Pellys are great
Pellys are great. They handled my mortgage (I was a first time buyer) in 2020 with no issues. They have since been really helpful with outstanding queries. Highly recommend. Thank You Pellys :)

This morning I had an urgent query on a property transaction that Pellys Bishop Stortford branch handled for us five years ago. I was dreading making the call as I thought given the timeframe it was going to be a painful experience. However within minutes Pellys we’re able to access my file electronically and provide me with all the information that I required, very impressed ! Thank you Andrina, you were very responsive.
Conveyancing recommendation
We used Pellys (Saffron Walden) for our conveyancing and found them to be helpful, courteous, thorough and speedy. We couldn't have asked for anymore and wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend them to family and friends.
Poor
I have also had concerns regarding Pellys compliance with Data Protection legislation. After they used my personal details without approval, I raised a Subject Access Request. This was sent to their Data Protection Officer and. Managing Director. Despite promising to respond, they never did so. I then raised my concerns with the Information Commissioner, who directedpellys to respond; again they never did so. I then wrote again to their Data Protection Officer, pointing out they had been required to provide advice in accordance with their legal obligations. All I ever received was a further e mail promising a response the next day - some five months later I have received nothing further and find it difficult to understand why a legal firm will not comply with the law.
Pellys Hitchin Acted on my behalf
Pellys Hitchin Acted on my behalf - there were issues outside of their control so not too much of a concern there; delays happen. However, I have afterwards attempted to obtain some correspondence that they submitted on my behalf and my request was passed to their Data Protection Officer, Ian Kettridge at the Bishop Stortford branch.
I strongly believe that they have been intentionally misleading with me and dishonest in an attempt to avoid providing me with my information. Mr Kettridge even claimed on one day that he had my request printed off and he would be replying within 1 working day, and then several days of chasing later, he finally returns my call and admits he has no idea what information I was asking for.
I have submitted complaints to the Information Commissioner's Office, to Pellys themselves, and reported them to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
I am not sure what they're trying to hide but they're approach and lack of explanation for the same has left me seriously concerned.
One of the employees admitted that they have no training in the GDPR (data Protection) despite training being, as I understand it, a requirement for businesses in the UK - and I would have thought data protection compliance should be important to a law firm.
I will willingly remove my review of their service if they comply with my request for information.
Lazy, frequent mistakes
Used Pellys for conveyancing. The conveyancer was generally slow, required prompting many times to answer simple questions, frequently got documents and dates mixed up.
