Poor quality
Brand new in ground pool with Pentair equipment installed. Heater does not work. Pool installer came to service, changed 10+ parts of the brand new heater, had Pentair tech on phone for assistance. Still not working. Ow waiting for Pentair tech to visit and service. At what point should a new heater be installed? Also. After 1 week, light circuit breaker in Pentair panel went bad. No lights. Still waiting for replacement breaker to be installed. After $100k+ I’m disappointed in Pentair products and response. Is going into 3rd week of problem.
My broken pool pump is less than 8 months old…
My pool pump is less than 8 months old and has stopped functioning completely. The pump is still under warranty but after not responding to emails and messages to begin with ( for over a week) they then direct the complaint to a local subcontractor who will take 5 business days to respond. 2 weeks without a pool pump in Queesland is a long time!
Pentair Intelichor Salt Cell dead after…
Pentair Intelichor Salt Cell dead after only 2 years and 4 months old! POOR POOR product! Purchased and installed by authorized dealer.
I would give it a zero if I could
I would give it a zero if I could. Worst pool equipment I've ever owned in my 30+ years as pool owner. I bought the timer/ pump combo fall 2023 and had it professionally installed. A year and a 1/2 later (out of warranty) the timer quit. This is a very expensive piece of equipment!! And it's a POS! Lessons learned 1. NEVER buy pentair again! 2.buy timer and pump separately not as a combo unit so that way if one breaks you have a much less expensive repair cost. 3.buy Hayward. Never had a problem with Hayward in all my years of pool ownership.
New Sta-Rite Pumps Failed--Double Installation
Purchased a new Sta-Rite Pump (owned by Pentair) through a local parts store for my Spa. Paid to have it shipped to my house and installed by a professional. The pump did not work so I had to take time to make a warranty claim, loss the use of my spa for over a week and then had pay the installer again to replace the non-working pump. The second pump worked fine. I wrote Pentair customer service to ask for them to reimburse the $100 additional installation fee. I got an email back that simply said, we do not do that. No reason, no apology just "No". I have a pool and will stop replacing parts and pumps with Pentair and go to Jandy since they do not stand behind their products and have terrible customer service. I wish I had visited this site before I ordered the pump.
Called Pentair technical support to…
Called Pentair technical support to answer various questions I had for upgrading pool equipment on a new home purchase.
Waited on the phone for over 20 minutes when a lady said thank you for calling then without hesitation she disconnected the call.
Now being upset with Pentair I said I will not purchase their equipment.
I then reached out to a well known pool supply company in my area.
After lengthy discussion on the pros and cons of both Pentair and Hayward equipment they agreed that Hayward was much better than Pentair.
Thank you Pentair customer service for hanging up on me as If I would have spoken to you I probably would have made a huge mistake costing me thousands of dollars for buying inferior equipment.

$1,000 pool light lasts 5 years. No response from customer service. Total piece of garbage!
Pentair won't help with NEW broken heater
We hava a new Pentair heater within the three year warranty. We have not used the heater much and it's already broken. Pentair will not replace it because they say the warranty is only two years if your other pool equipment isn't Pentair. Also, they will not even send a technician out to help. No help at all. Our contractor went out of business, so going to Pentair was our only option.
I do not recommend Pentair Intellibrite…
I do not recommend Pentair Intellibrite pool lighting products. In the past 10 years, I had to replace 2 Intellibrite 5G lights. The latest only lasted 3 years. I had 2 Master Electricians verify that my electric and wiring is ok.
I will not invest another $1,000 in this defective product knowing that it will very likely fail again. Pentair Customer Support is not helpful and not empowered to make decisions outside of their warranty terms to retain customer loyalty. I will be in search of a higher quality light solution than what Pentair has proven as a low quality product.
Worst customer service
Bought an expensive pool heater - Gas/Heat pump Hybrid UltraTemp. Worked fine for 4 years. Then ist started to trip the circuit breaker. Customer service demanded serial number, not able to help where it is located and telling me to search in a wrong place for it. After I found it (disregarding their advice of it's location) they just informed me that it is out of warranty. Did not connect me with ant Pentair technician for repairs. I ended up fixing it myself for cost of 20 dollars of spare part. Worst customer service ever. Will never buy another Pentair product if I can avoid it.
Will never buy Pentair again
Bought a $800 pool pump and it lasted 2 years. Should have been under warranty for 3 years but customer service refused to honor it.
Pentair sand filter disaster !!
I bought a Pentair sand filter for my below ground swimming pool in June 2022. It worked well for two years and then this year, developed a leak between the valve collar and the filter tank.
With the help of my pool installer, we examined this area and found that the collar would not Tightly fit against the tank in a 3 inch area. This allowed the O-ring to bulge out and the tank to spray water.
My pool installer tried a new O-ring and O-ring bulged out, causing a leak. We tried epoxy to the O-ring and this still did not work. In fact, the entire valve assembly blew off from the tank.
I sent pictures of this to Pentair claiming that it was a manufacturer defect of the dome of the tank that is causing the problem.
I have placed numerous phone calls with Pentair. Every Pentair representative said that the tank is no longer under warranty and there’s nothing they can do.
My argument is that this is a manufacturer defect in the tank that will not allow the valve assembly collar to securely fasten to the tank. Because it is a manufacturer defect, I think they should replace the tank.
Pentair refuses to help me.
Disappointed in Pentair's Customer…
Update: Pentair Finally Honors Pump Replacement
After multiple complaints and threatening to switch brands, Pentair agreed to replace the faulty pump—just one month out of warranty.
They still refuse to cover the heater’s broken LCD and denied the 3-year extended warranty, saying my three product purchases didn’t happen on the same day.
Glad they stepped up on the pump, but it shouldn’t take this much effort. Still disappointed overall—and reconsidering future business with Pentair.
Disappointed in Pentair's Customer Service
I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Pentair products and support. In May 2023, I purchased a Pentair pool pump and heater. Just over two years later—in June 2025—both failed: the pool pump motor died and the heater's LCD stopped working. I also bought a Pentair pool light June of 2023. (which if you buy 3 products your warranty is then upgraded to 3 years) They denied my claim and said for the extended warranty they have to be bought on the same invoice.
While I understand warranties have limits, both products failed just one month past the two-year warranty. My pool company confirmed the pump motor was faulty, and I contacted Pentair to ask for a goodwill replacement. Unfortunately, they denied both the warranty claim and the goodwill request.
It’s incredibly frustrating that Pentair won’t stand behind their products or consider loyalty and proximity to the warranty window. I expected more from a brand that positions itself as premium. After investing in multiple Pentair products, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere—clearly, customer satisfaction is not their priority
Choose another company.
I had a whole home water filtration system installed by this company in April 2022 to combat undrinkable well water, and my experience has been incredibly disappointing from the start. I was told someone would return after two months to test the water and ensure the system was functioning correctly—no one ever showed up. I made multiple attempts to schedule the follow-up via phone call, text messages, and emails, all of which were ignored. The salesperson vanished immediately after payment was made and never responded to a single message after that.
The customer service number I was given "if I have any issues at all" went straight to voicemail every time I called, and I never received a callback when I left a voicemail. I tried reaching out through Pentair's official website regarding a question about the tanks drain lines - which were simply buried into the dirt nearby so I now have a hole in my yard the size of a large watermelon where there were numerous gallons of water pumped into the dirt every night - and was told "yeah, that doesn't look right," but offered no actual assistance and told to contact the original installer. Unfortunately, the installer—who called me the day after install and admitted to installing the system backwards!!! —was also unreachable after he fixed his initial screw up.
Since installation, the system has had numerous problems:
- Many times the water still has an odor which was 50% of my main concern for installing the system in the first place: the odor and debris in the water
- An injector piece broke after about 16 months and I had to use Google, YouTube, and other sources to figure out how to fix it myself because I was unable to reach anyone to help
- The water frequently turned a dark gray color, requiring several regeneration cycles to clear up - IF it cleared up - after several days
- A constant brown tint that no amount of regeneration seems to fix.
Now, the chemical tank appears to be malfunctioning - there is algae is growing inside, and the bleach/water level hasn’t changed in almost a year other than slight evaporation!
At first, I thought the system wasn’t using much bleach due to reduced water usage (my household went from 4–5 people to just myself), but the algae growth proved something was wrong.
I followed all maintenance instructions I was given to a tee — adding bleach and salt, draining the retention tank monthly, checking/changing filter as necessary, etc. — yet my water now looks like something out of a dirty lake which, you guessed it, I could've gotten for free.
I spent thousands of dollars to ensure clean, safe water for my home, and instead, I’m stuck with malodorous, discolored water whose safety for ingestion is questionable and no support from the company.
This level of service and product performance is abysmal. When the system was under warranty, I would expect someone to stand behind it and make this right. Now that it's been years, I'm approaching the point where I am supposed to replace the large filters that I was told have a shelf life of about five years, so I am going to have to dump more money into this system that doesn't even do the basic functions I need it to do.
I regret trusting this company with such an important investment for my home and I would advise anyone to carefully consider their options when choosing which company to do the same.
I would give ZERO STARS if an option
I would give ZERO STARS if an option. You can find terrible reviews everywhere about their low quality pool products.
We have a 3 year old ichlor-30 that has completely broken and no warranty. The first one came broken… you’re better off spending less. You’re paying for a make that no longer stands behind their products.
Warranty Claim for Salt Cell - Horrible Customer Service
I flied a warranty claim on my Salt Cell After 2 years of it not working on a brand new pool. Claimed file November 2024, no response, followed up multiple times in April 2025, with run around. They then assigned to a approved warranty company whom put me off for 2+ weeks to find out they didn't know when they could come out. Upon letting Pentair know this they stated they would send me the salt cell over night on June 3. On June 6, I call and they have not yet processed and Skyler the Warranty Coordinator told me the system changed it and now shipping on June 9. In the mean time I have spent close to $1000 to get my pool chemicals balance while we waited. I would have been better off getting another manufacture salt cell like Hayward.

Have a Pentair heat pump for my pool
Would give 0 stars if I could.
Have a Pentair heat pump for my pool.
Just after the warranty expired (2 years) the control panel failed and had to be replaced. Just had another big repair bill because the heat transfer coil developed a leak. Both repairs cost in aggregate what I paid for the unit in the first place. I’ve only had the unit for 4 years. When I asked about replacing the unit, I was quoted over $11000.00. I won’t be buying any more Pentair products.
Third Protocol Adaptor In Only 7 years...NO THANKS!
In just seven years of pool ownership, I've had two Pentair ScreenLogic Protocol Adapters fail, both becoming completely unusable after losing the ability to obtain an IP address. Despite the high cost of this device (nearly $500!) and its clear design flaws, Pentair has repeatedly refused to offer a warranty replacement, providing only excuses instead of solutions.
Now, if I want to control my pool without having to walk around the side of my house to use the control panel, I'd have to purchase a third protocol adapter, which I can also fully expect to fail within a couple of years, just like the others.
No thanks!
I've read numerous accounts from other pool owners experiencing the exact same issue, so it's clear that the problem isn't isolated. The real issue here isn't just the faulty adapter, it's Pentair itself, a company that refuses to stand behind its products or support its customers. If they truly valued their customers, they would replace these defective adapters at no cost, and correct the obvious defect in these devices. This lack of quality control and short-sighted customer service are exactly how established companies like Pentair simultaneously create opportunities for their competitors and lose previously loyal customers...FOREVER!
Would leave them 0 stars if I could
Would leave them 0 stars if I could. Purchased a pool heater from them and after 2 years it's not working. They sent a warranty guy out and they told us it's because of improper chemical balance so not covered. We have a pool company come weekly and have never had any issues bad enough to cause the damage they claim we have yet no pool companies in town see. Horrible company that can not stand behind their products. May as well throw your money in the trash since that's where it will be in 2 years anyway.
