Be aware that Prestashop official marketplace of modules DOES NOT mean it's legit. I still own a shop with Prestashop platform, but there was occasions there you would buy modules which are not working. You would get NO Support from module developer neither from Prestashop it self. They would simply ignore you. In fact most of the developers are there to take money and pretend they have working modules, but they don't. If you willing to pay double for something you already paid than this could be your platform.
Customers support phone number - Been ringing them 4 days straight ( in the morning, afternoon, evening ) no answer. Email? Forget about it.
It's their platform and they do whatever they want.

Also, they are probably selling your information of newly opened stores so you will get plenty of messages regarding google rankings, marketing and any other spam messages.

Verdict? Go with different platform and just hire developers to code stuff for you as modules are mostly waste of money and you will not achieve anything from Prestashop.

Privacy clarification
Whether they deserve more or less, I rated with 3 stars to be a bit fair.
The platform is friendly, fast and it has many functions... that's good BUT after one hour installing it (Only one hour) I got a marketing spam email from a company team (israe....ting.online) offering their services.
My website is just launched, nobody in the globe know about it else my wife & me
The message received on my email which's defined as a contact email in the contact form, even the email address isn't listed anywhere on my website
What a coincidence!
For me I consider that selling contacts information is a crime

Bad "software", buggy and code is a mess rather use wordpress and do it yourself.

Is very customizable website that you can ether download and use it offline and then updated on a serve, or use directly their own server and you are ready to go

If I could give Prestashop 0 stars I really would! What an awful platform this is! I'm currently trying to help my client's business on this terrible clunky and deceptive platform. Stay away! You have been warned.

The website was developed by someone else, I'm looking after the SEO and digital marketing It's taking an age to set up basic SEO and external extensions to social media! and their terribly designed modules cost an arm and a leg! - Now I can see why my clients wanted to give up on their business.

I've been an online business owner and e-commerce specialist for 10 years, please take my advice and choose Shopify which is by far superior to all other platforms!

I'm also looking after a Wordpress/Woocommerce website for another client and again, clunky and far more complicated than it needs to be, missing some basic functionalities. If you are struggling with Prestashop, don't waste another minute and switch over! I literally feel like I've stepped back in time trying to use these other platforms!

This is not a fake review - you can find my Shopify business; The Real Human Hair Company and you can find my small digital marketing service on; Dulwich Digital (both are dot com), where I offer consultancy to small online businesses to help them achieve success online. Yes, I am plugging myself here because I feel very strongly that there are developers out there charging high amounts for Prestashop only to leave small businesses on the worst and most costly platforms in the long term. It's hard enough to survive online without having a nightmare getting anything done on your website. Please take my advice and stay away from this backward platform.

After i bought a theme from PrestaShop Templates i have try to contact both seller and Prestashop and none seems to have any interest in solving this case.

The theme don't work and Prestashop is not responding or do anything.

If you want to have support and also think that you can get a refund don't use Prestashop as a place to get theme or module

Today when i open my shop, the bought theme WAS GONE!!!!!!!!

NOBODY have been giving any access to my shop (backend) so there must be a backdoor in PRESTASHOP/THEME for who want to have access. I belive this is illegally and might be a issue for the Police..

How to Prestashop:

- Spend X months fixing bugs it comes packed with

- Throw your computer in the can
- Lose a client

Possibly the worst e-com platform i ever had the unpleasure to work with. Baffling spaghetti code, ZERO DOCUMENTATION, toxic forum community unable to help at all but always eager to send you off if you say anything bad about PS, overpriced and crapfilled marketplace, mindbending database structure, antiquated and horrendous templating system, i could go on for hours.

Stay away from this piece of crap.

PrestaShop is a greate free ecommerce solution, but unfortunately the official marketplace behind has one of the worst customer services and terms of conditins that I have ever expired.

A wide range of the modules that is sold on the markeds Place is of so pure quality that is really wondering how it can get past any quality control (not even follow PrestaShops own development standards).

To even try to get money back you would need approval from module developer and long discussion with the markeds place sales persons. And this leave you no where. Only option is to fight with the developer to fix the problem with their modules. (documentation and demos is pure or none existent).

My last purchase contained 3 modules and costed 224 euro - I spend more than 100 hours over 2,5 months period to bug fixing the modules with the module developer (many bugs was just solve by removing functionality in the modules).

It is completely incomprehensible how a professional business can tread their customers this way.

Be aware purchasing modules from the PrestaShop markeds place! Better terms can be found elsewhere for some of the same modules.

The PrestaShop CMS is good, it's fast and it has many many functions that are very hard to do in almost all other systems.

But prestashop the company is rotten to the core.
Every single time i have an interaction with them it leaves me feeling like crap and like i've been scammed.
There's always a problem with modules (i have bought 25 modules there) and most of the time the developer will help you fix something, if its a little more complicated then they'll just spend a month trying to understand you problem and then demand more money the try to fix the problem.

Just this year i've lost 350£ in modules that i've bought and that never worked.

Prestashop customer service? They don't do anything.

Site does not work with HTTPS. Tried so many things to fix it without a success. Don't waste your time.

I bought an Addon. I paid immediatly. They denied delivery. I got a notice that something wasn´t right with my PayPal account. They asked me to send some very personal information by email. I never do that as most emailconnections simply are not safe enough.
Finally I got the addon. Took a lot of trouble to get it installed.
And then it showed up that it doesn´t do the job. Of cause: you don´t get your money back. Not to speak of how difficult it is to get in touch with customerservice in the first place.

I'm amazed how you cannot add negative reviews to their official addons marketplace, the reviews are moderated by the developer not by prestashop, and your opinion will never be heard. This platform needs a small change because it's pretty nice working with it and doing almost anything with your shop.

AVOID PRESTASHOP!!
I was a new user and having a technical difficulty uploading my products.
They wanted me to purchase one of their support plans for over €200 for them to solve a problem occurring on their system!! Absolutely ridiculous customer service and no support whatsoever!!

We use Prestashop for our ecommerce Habitium.fr and we are happy with Prestashop. Big module marketplace, good documentation and forums. It is a good option.

Stay away at all costs!!
Prestashop customer service don't care about your needs. Themes are buggy even if you buy the premium themes. Themes developers from India takes your money and run away, from you the customer!! Prestashop couldn't care less and don't even bother to get involved. Bunch of crooks drooling when they smell money. I hate to see you in my situation, please stay away at all costs!!
Also, never ever buy themes from any external websites, it's even worse!!

Pros:
- lots of plugins
- convenient
- Cheap
- quick customer service

Cons:
- useful plugins are paid
- bad SEO
- ugly templates

It is almost as if prestashop is broken on purpose so that they could sell you plugins. Every time you stumble across a problem you are offered a paid plugin to fix it. The biggest disaster however is their url rewrite system. Choosing a product variation changes your url. So you end up with a duplicate page for every possible variation. Google does not like duplicate content. And guess what? They are trying to sell you a canonical url SEO plugin as a fix.

1500 sql queries per page it is normal for prestashop.

Gavno.

This has got to be the worst user experience for a platform I have ever used. I have tried many platforms from Woocommerce, BigCommerce, Shopify, OpenCart etc and PrestaShop is slow, cumbersome and a generally awful platform for users to work on. It's also a freemium platform, so although it's free for the basic platform you will end up paying lots of money for plugins. It's difficult to operate and a challenge for training new people to e-commerce to use. The product pages will look awful unless you pay for a page builder or a web designer who knows html and css. Don't bother wasting your time with this outdated system.

I thing this is the best ecommerce platform for stor (if you have VPS server). I use this script for 3 shops and they work good.
