Value & First Impressions
At £10 (discounted down from £20), this knife delivers exceptional value. While it's part of ProCook's entry-level range, the solid single-piece construction and overall build feel far more substantial than the price tag suggests.
Weight & Balance
Compared to a traditional lightweight Nakiri, this model has a chunkier feel and a noticeably thicker spine. The extra weight actually works in its favor—the weight distribution is exceptionally well-balanced, giving you comfortable control and letting the heft of the blade do the work when chopping through dense vegetables.
Blade & Maintenance
Because of the thicker blade geometry, skip the honing steel. A traditional pull-through sharpener or steel will only chew up the edge; taking it to a proper whetstone brings out a razor-sharp, durable edge that holds up very well to heavy prep work.
Verdict
A brilliant, budget-friendly workhorse for everyday vegetable prep. If you don't mind a slightly heftier blade and maintain it properly on a stone, it easily punches above its weight class.
