We found the experience of our son going through his ADHD assessment with Psicon a really positive and comfortable experience. The assessor knew exactly how to make our son feel comfortable and relaxed and the whole process was very thorough, professional and we felt at ease, and more importantly our son did the whole time too - I highly recommend Psicon

From start to finish the experience with Psicon was brilliant, my daughter was treated with kindness and was made to feel comfortable and at ease.
The process was thorough and support and advice was given with the diagnosis.

As much as I can say my wait was long, it wasn't actually as long as originally stated when being advised to seek GP assist for ASD assessment.
I was referred to piscon via the NHS, piscon made contact September last year then all went quiet.
I emailed only a few weeks ago, expressing my concern on the length of time and if I had been forgotten (it happens, lots of people in this country) and I was contacted, emailed and dated provided in no time at all.
The ease of the process was heart-warming. Certainly put any of my thoughts (multiple examples of them) to rest, with a pre tech call to make sure your comfortable and all set up for the assessment itself and to answer any questions I had.
I had the pleasure of being assessed by a lovely, calm, kind, structured lady, Olanike Etomi who kept me on track with her needs to assess me, with multiple questions and obvious analytical skills, the assessment was said to be 90 mins, I had heard rumours of how quick "they" like to assess people.
But, I can safely, with my hand on my heart state from personal experience that my time was well used, I had probably a few minutes more than 90 mins, but not everything can be scripted and timed.
I did not need to provide them with anything more than they asked for, every company is different, but most companies of this structure will not want what you have had before, it is of no relevance, they are doing what they need to under their own guidelines, policies and procedures.
Trust in the process, give as much information about client/individual as possible when asked, no more, no less and allow them to do their job.
I can't fault them, they have a set criteria under the NHS, we can't have anymore than what is available.
Having been through the process with someone very close to the family, with a private company.. yes the foundations are so much different, and a total of 9 hours in assessments, but the level of assessment granted under national health criteria, to that of what you pay every single penny for is worlds apart.
I highly recommend this company
Thank you for your help and assistance with what I deem as delayed but excellent service from all I have spoken with.
Olanike Etomi, thank you for making me feel, somewhat at ease, more than many do and have.
I'm very critical as a person, for self and for others. I'm happy, (and that's saying something 😆)

From the moment we received our NHS referral to Psicon, the entire process has been incredibly supportive. I want to reassure other parents going through this that you are in safe hands, especially if you have the pleasure of working with ADHD assessor Rakel Morenike.
Rakel was absolutely wonderful. She effectively put on her "6-year-old’s hat" to engage with our child perfectly, making the session so engaging for a child with ADHD. At the same time, she treated us as parents with immense empathy and knowledge. She didn't shy away from asking the difficult questions that every parent of a SEN child has to face, but she did so with the utmost care.
Rakel is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely empathetic. It was a complete breeze to interact with both her and the company. We couldn't recommend Psicon and Rakel highly enough!

Rakel was great, listened very well, talked us through everything wondefully and most importantly it was fun. She creates a great atmosphere.

All interactions with staff including those involved in the assessments were positive and supportive. The process was not at all intrusive. The only real downside is the wait times, but they are still shorter than NHS.

Fantastic, efficient service from start to finish. Referred via Right to Choose, we got the paperwork the same day and a clear timeline for what to expect. The whole process was surprisingly smooth.
The clinician was brilliant with my son during his assessment. We received a confirmation letter quickly with the outcome, which helped massively with his school and upcoming move to secondary. The full report is still pending, but we had what we needed when it mattered.
It took just over 4 months total. After hearing so many negatives about ADHD assessments, I’m so glad we went with PSICON. It took a huge weight off as a parent. Highly recommend.

Absolute scam of a company. These people are clearly only interested in generating revenue for themselves. Assessments are incomplete, rushed and evidence is not looked at by them. Huge waits and appointments being cancelled. Please avoid there are much better providers out there who actually care and support families.

We had the assessment with a lovely lady called Raquel, from the very start of the appointment Raquel was very personable and brilliant with my 10 year old son. It was a very thorough session and at the end we got the diagnosis we were hoping to in time for our son to start secondary school being understood and making the transition smoother.

Easy initial forms to fill in and shorter wait times to be assessed.
I had an appointment with Dr Khalid, who was wonderful and made me feel at ease.
Wait for medication has been over 3 months now and I have had limited communication despite emails sent to them. Up until this point I couldn’t fault Psicon.

I have had such a good experience with Psicon. Dr Nabil who did my assessment was so kind and warm and really put me at ease. She was so good when my mum couldn't come and re-scheduled within a few days. I am so grateful that the process was straightforward. Albeit nerve wracking.

Had my son's ADHD assessment with Rakel Morenike this morning and she was absolutely brilliant in her assessment. Adapted her style of questions and methods to assess my busy 9 year old son. Gave plenty of advice afterwards and a debrief

We had an overall great experience with Psicon. The people we dealt with at every step we wonderful and polite. The Basingstoke site we visited was a calm and peaceful location for our visit so despite a long journey once we arrived we both felt very comfortable. The Dr we spoke to via video call was brilliant with his explanations and advice. The service was really very good. I would and have recommended this service. There are long wait times but you are treated very well.

I was seen by Dr. Demilade Agbeleye and she was absolutely fantastic, really reassured me and took time to understand and clarify everything during my appointment, absolutely fantastic experience especially after much anxiety awaiting this appointment she completely put me at ease and the whole experience was very relaxing, couldn’t recommend or praise her enough! I am very grateful to have been seen by her as her whole approach definitely helped me with the whole diagnosis process even after she confirmed my diagnosis she gave me time to ask her questions and also gave me reassurance and pointed me in directions for support groups or ways to access other information! Thank you very much to the whole pscion team and by Dr. Agbeleye.

We accessed Psicon through the NHS Right to Choose pathway for autism and ADHD assessment for our daughter.
While the autism assessment itself was positive and resulted in an ASD diagnosis, we were left concerned by aspects of the ADHD assessment process.
At referral stage, Psicon agreed to accept multidisciplinary professional evidence in place of a school report because our daughter had only just moved schools. We therefore submitted detailed reports including NHS community paediatrics, extensive educational psychologist report, SEMH outreach support and SEND services input. However, during the ADHD assessment process, we were later told by the clinician that these reports would not be considered and were neither relevant or important and that a brief school report was required instead. We then had to arrange for this to be done and wait two further weeks for the ‘conclusion’ meeting.
Because schools questionnaires offered so strongly to ours, I suspect through masking, we were told that where parent and school reports differed significantly, the QbCheck became the “deciding factor.” This was concerning given that the QbCheck was completed at home at my kitchen table rather than under clinical conditions, and additional observer comments regarding fidgeting and movement did not appear to have been meaningfully considered.
Concerns regarding masking, particularly in autistic girls, also did not feel fully explored with situational hyperfocus being completely dismissed. During the consultation there was repeated implication that the ASD diagnosis should effectively be sufficient in itself, alongside questioning why we would seek an ADHD diagnosis if we were not pursuing medication.
Our concern is not simply that our daughter was not diagnosed with ADHD, but that we left the process without confidence that all relevant evidence had been fully considered or clearly explained.
We subsequently submitted a detailed formal complaint regarding the assessment process and handling of evidence. Unfortunately, rather than addressing the concerns raised, the response focused solely on the appeals process and appeared to assume we were simply disputing the diagnostic outcome, despite our complaint being specifically about process, fairness, and evidence handling.
When asking for our complaint to be acknowledged we have been repeatedly ignored for some weeks now.
Maybe the appointment being done at 5pm on a Friday night was part of the decision making criteria. It certainly felt as such.
We feel Psicon could improve by:
* ensuring multidisciplinary evidence is consistently considered throughout the process
* recognising the differing presentation of ADHD in girls and autistic children
* improving transparency around how evidence is weighted
* and responding more effectively to formal complaints raised by families.
