I’ve been going to pure gym on and off for years and always worked well for what I needed, 24 hour access is great! A variety of classes are also accessible. Pure gym in the city could do with a few gum equipment replacing (squat machine) it’s also very spacious with 3 floors
I’ve also been to pure gym at kingsway and they have new equipment and changing rooms. A 2nd pure gym in derby was definitely needed.

Been a member of this gym for 8 years, and have seen a steady decline since Covid, with a lack of investment and good staff leaving. The gym goes weeks waiting for equipment to be fixed. The lift has been broken for months and has stopped disabled members from accessing the gym. Staff are difficult to retain, and the ones left now work so hard to keep it clean and fix equipment when they can. But the gym needs a massive refurbishment plan, new equipment and better management of the clientele (we have a lot of Derby College kids that abuse the membership by sharing access codes).

Maintenance of equipment takes ages. Leg press on top floor has been out of order for months. Dumbels slip as your lifting them, cleaning solution could be more alcohol based to avoid this. Too much cardio equipment that never gets used. Better selling half the unused treadmills and getting in more weight equipment. Weight area overcrowded, never any benches free until later in the evening. 11pm onwards...

I've been a member of puregym at this site for 7/8 years now and have always been happy with it.
Unfortunately over the last 8 weeks or so the standard of everything is slowly deterirating. Music is very intermittent over the last 2 months front doors not operating properly temperature inside the gym is usually cold ( even had to borrow a hoodie to wear on one occasion).
The worse thing though is the standard of hygiene in the showers and changing room. Dirty most the time and disgusting on occasions. I've now bought some flip flops to wear when in the shower.
On the plus side the staff are friendly and helpful.

Very nasty gym!
The Staffs are so unprofessional, uncivilised, jealous and racists toward people of colour. I've seen many white folks workout with bare foot and nobody ever told them nothing but when I did,it was a problem. Go back to school you mf uneducated poor things!
Would you worked out with Alexander McQueens shoes if you had one?!
You guys are same as police officers, whenever they see a black person drives a good and expensive car it's a game!
So your policies have to be followed by certain groups of people only, innit?! Strange!
Listen yeah! I said what I have said due to my experience!
I have things to do in ma life either Mr/Madam! And working out is one among them!
My time is golden to just go gym and start arguments with strangers! Huh!! I'm not that kind of person at all!
I'm the one who was been picked on and harassed by your staff at d first place. We all know exactly that people like you, always look for a chance to act accordingly plus I'm not even your gym member anymore!
There are plenty of nice gyms out there for me rather than being in yours that makes feel attacked, disrespected and harassed...
I literally do not tolerate disrespect and embarrassment! I take that sh** seriously either!
It was only my second week since I joined. But because of the worst experience, I immediately removed my fat ass out of it and not interested at all Love!!Ngl
It's the nastiest gym in Derby!

PureGym Derby showers are substandard. They are not cleaned often enough and usually smell like rotting cabbage! This is unacceptable. An otherwise decent gym is spoiled by dirty showers and changing rooms in need of refurbishment.

spacious, reasonable amount of equipment, good staffs and variety of optional activities.

My main issue is the atmosphere. I feel as though gym users are quite guarded, particularly female gym users, I've noticed the poster campaign around the gym around harassment, so I assume there has been issues there. It doesn't feel like a community, or perhaps it's just not my type of training environment.

Poor and out dated equipment. Try to change most of the equipment.

Convenient location. Unfortunately the air conditioning doesn't seem to work through most of summer every year :/

I like the opening hours and the range of equipment. However, the variety of classes that are available at the times that I am able to attend is limited and I fear getting bored and with not attending any. It would be nice if there were more options, not only for the choice but also the social element.
It is always clean and tidy, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Use it 5-6 times a year when on holiday. Easy to access at any time. Equipment excellent and spotless. Credit to staff.
