Good location for me with a good range and availability of kit. Disappointing to see members use blue card parking spaces who do not have blue cards, denying people who need them. Suspend their member... See more

Temperature control and rules
Today, the gym was far too hot. The weather had been bitterly cold last week and the heating/air con was fine. It would appear that no changes were made given the rise in temperature outside. Also several weeks ago a young member was exercising without a top on- a clear inability or willingness to follow gym rules.

From a space perspective this must be one of the best Pure Gyms around; ground floor and first floor. How many gyms have that kinda space and can offer an affordable monthly subscription. The space can definitely help you just do my own thing without feeling overlooked in any way. On the first floor, there are many of the same and different weight assisted machines so there’s never any waiting around /queuing for same machine issues. Maybe a little on Mondays but not much. I’ve treated myself to a personal trainer at Pure Gym and I am so enjoying the whole experience. Acknowledging myself as I get better at certain exercises is giving my ego a much needed boost but then the exercise changes and you move onto the next level up /challenge. Yep loving it especially seeing changes within me. But also beginning to love the changes made to the exercises / activities which are definitely keeping me interested and focussed
My favourite gym, with some excellent instructors, and fun and friendly classes
Gym is clean and well-equipped and feels welcoming.
Very friendly atmosphere.
Several of the instructors have worked there for nine or ten years, and are very skilled PTs and class instructors.
I love the classes - particularly the 30 minute ones. There are lots of them, the instructors are mainly great, call us by name, give us lots of encouragement.
Ideally I like to attend a 30 minute class every day.
I am also a member of the much more expensive Nuffield gym, but prefer the friendliness and support I receive at Puregym Edinburgh West
Overall great
Overall, the place is good. However, there are some small pieces of equipment that must be replaced.

Cables on equipment are stiff and caused an injury in my shoulder.
Especially the large cable crossover on the top floor.
Improvements required!
I’ve been training in this gym for around eight months. I’ve been in many PureGyms, including in England, but this one is definitely down on the list.
1. There is a lack of equipment, e.g. handles and some machines. Upgrade is necessary.
2. Hygienically, this gym is the worst, literally. Toilets and showers can be left extremely dirty for number of days and weeks - this standard won’t even meet a standard of a public toilet located in a third world country… The cleaners used to be actively cleaning (3-4 months ago), but now you will barely see anyone cleaning anything due to lack of staff. I think there is only one person who is responsible for cleaning the whole/massive gym.
3. The temperature of a changing room literally replicates the temperate of outside/street. It is extremely cold, and you can hear people entering the room and saying “oh my God, it’s so cold in here”. I am not sure what is the intention: a) either discouraging people to take a shower, and then clean for them b) saving the money by avoiding the heating. This never used to be the case pre-increased cost of living (few months ago).
4. Parking, generally, is fine, but some disrespectful members can park outside of a dedicated parking space e.g. on a road/driveway. It seems to be a normality when someone is blocking the road. And you can see it’s the same members.
5. The good thing about this gym is that it’s the only local 24h gym.
6. Finally, staff seem to be nice, although I never had any proper interaction with them.

I’m very happy and impressed with the gym with equipment and how the gym is set up, only giving 4 stars as always room for improvement
Great all round gym and staff

First time back since March 2019 - shielding.
Aircon occasionally blasting out hot air. Not a good idea I don't think.
Some members not wiping down kit or wearing
Mask when moving round. Not sure how you police this.
Otherwise all good

Great gym and equipment
Great gym and equipment. My only complaint is that there's a prominent and growing minority of people who repeatedly don't put their weights back/leave them on the bar. I'd appreciate it if PTs took notice and actually engaged with these people because it is very frustrating.
