Back in the gym after 10 years and felt it could be intimidating. However, the staff made it easy to ease my way into it. I appreciate the friendliness, non-judgement and their great equipment.

Everything is great but one thing is…
Everything is great but one thing is that on the Saturday morning class at 8:30. The lady puts the music on way too loud. I know it has to be a good volume but I have my headphones in and on the treadmill and I can’t hear my music at all. I would expect her to shout for motivation but a bit quieter would be great.

Clean but frustrating
The gym itself is clean and friendly however the water fountain has now been broken for nearly 2 months now and when equipment does break its takes a long time to fix. Considering the size of the business it blows my mind at the length of time it takes to replace/fix equipment.

3 months of a broken water station in Knaresborough gym means free members now access premium member hydration station but dont pay extra...not really very fair.
2 broken machines since I started that took a long time to fix
NEVER any leg extension attachments on the cord/resistance area which is a bit frustrating.

It's very hard to book for class you…
It's very hard to book for class you like at specific times because if u don't pay premium u can book just one week or if u pay premium u can book just two weeks. The classes most popular is always over booked so regularly is hard to attend.

Always clean
Always clean, lots of machines so plenty of choices, down side drinking water is broken and has been for over two weeks!!

Turn the air con on and sort your class booking system
It would be a 5 as this new gym is great apart from the air con being non existent and the difficulty in booking classes. If you go into the app to book a class it puts you on a waiting list and sometimes you don’t see you have been accepted for the class until the night before or that day. It’s not a great process and if you don’t keep checking you could
Miss that you’ve been accepted into the class and that’s a strike against you. Please revert to what other pure gyms do… release so many places for each class so you know if you are in or out

No Air Conditioning
No Air Conditioning. After 2 weeks it started leaking from the ceiling across the gym and now after less than 2 months is not working at all.
Roll on November when the gym at the new pool opens 🤞

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers.

The gym as a whole is great
The gym as a whole is great, cheap and cheerful but the cleanliness needs improvement. For instance I have been going since the gym opened and in the early days there was an uninvited guest in the ladies changing room of the 8 legged variety.. RIP Mr spider, but the stain from said spider is still on the changing room floor 6 weeks later which makes me question if the floor has actually been cleaned? The showers in the ladies I feel should be cleaned on a daily basis, not sure how often they are done but when you use the same shower everyday you tend to get to know it well! I would not shower now without my trusty flip flops. The machines also could do with a regular wipe down.. I'd be happy to do this myself (as I'm sure others would) before I use a machine if there were some wipes provided. The location of the gym is fab as is the amount of parking, my only real issue is the cleanliness, sort this out and it will be 5*.

The value for money is great but cleanliness not a priority
The value for money is great. However I do question the lack of paper towel for cleaning the machines. In such a busy gym with so few staff many of the machines are covered in sweat - this is not hygienic. I have mentioned it before and was told it was partly to help with the environment and stopping waste. Surely recycled paper towel could be sourced. Sorry it’s my only gripe but quite an annoying one as when I use the gym it’s very busy!

PureGym prides itself on being able to offer state of the art fitness facilities to our members in a safe and welcoming environment. We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment.
