Absolutely horrific. I signed up to PureGym because I have vitality rewards and get 50% off. I can’t begin to tell how terrible the customer service is. You can only email or message on Facebook. My membership got cancelled thanks to stupid finance checks (both mine and my husbands were coming out of the same account so they got suspicious and cancelled). I can’t ever find a manager in the gym to talk to, and no one is answering any message I send. So I’m locked out with no membership and no way to reinstate. I absolutely detest PureGym but it’s the only way I can afford a gym.

I have been trying to contact Puregym member services for a pin and have had no response from them. Its becoming a nightmare to reach them as I cant access the gym without the pin.

It didn’t work for me and kept making me call customer service

Have been a member for a while now and have noticed the standards have slipped in the last 6 months
- Equipment availability has decreased since they "refurbished". Fewer bikes, fewer cross trainers, fewer decline benches, etc. Then when one of them is out of order it makes it even harder to actually get one, even at non-peak times when I go. The cross-trainers are particularly bad since there are only four of them now (assuming none are out of order..) so it can be difficult to get one.
- Annoyingly it seems like some people are able to blast their music through the speakers. Has happened a few times when a group of three or four people play music so loud that I even struggle to hear the music playing in my headphones.
- Access: there have been a couple of random closures recently which are quite frustrating and never used to happen and you just get an unexpected email with no details on when they will reopen and telling you that you can use other gyms "nearby" which is no help to people who don't have transport to get to the other gyms.
- Space: seems to be a lot of empty space which could be used for other machines that there are not many of (as mentioned above), but then other parts are so full of equipment that it is cramped (particularly the free weights area)

Easy to join, good instructions. Equipment and machinery good, good range of classes, nice atmosphere at the Gym I use in Charlton. Clean. Changing rooms could be bigger and more paper towel and cleaner to be provided

Charlton gym are is alright, plenty of machines but the men’s bathroom is tiny!!! Very small. Lockers are always broken and there is an uncomfortable que for the showers
But over all it’s good value for money

I like that its not pretentious, but would like some lower impact classes or maybe a masterclass on the functions of the treadmill.
I know the instructors are amicable and open to questions, but if there was one who was stationed for specific questions, I would more than likely approach him/her.

I recently joined PureGym UK in London Charlton and I'm really pleased with my decision. The sign-up process was quick and easy, and I found their website and app user-friendly. The gym offers a great range of equipment and everyone is focused on their own workouts, which made me feel comfortable as a newcomer. It's true that some guidance on the first day would have been helpful, as I was a bit lost at first. The gym can get a bit crowded, which limits the variety of exercises I can do at times. However, the facilities are clean, with plenty of lockers and cleaning stations, and I love the convenience of their water dispensers. Also, I had a fantastic experience in Ify’s Step class! Overall, I'm enjoying my time at PureGym.

Beware of parking fines, PureGym Charlton advertise 'free parking' for up to 4 hours but I went and stayed for over 90 mins (I was shocked I stayed that long) got a lovely fine in the post a week later. I investigated it a bit further and found that I was stupid enough to go on a match day... unbeknown to me as I don't follow Charlton as a rule, didn't check if they were home that day, Pure Gym, where are your signs to say 'EXPECT A PARKING FINE IF YOU WORK OUT FOR MORE THAN 90 MINUTES ON A MATCH DAY'

My daughter joined on a special offer as she wanted to improve her strength but, as a graduate, gyms are expensive. She booked an induction but it was very basic and the gym was being refurbished. We had some family loss so she forgot to transfer funds to her account of £27 in time so her bank returned the amount the next day. Usually a gym will re issue the payment but instead:
PureGym suspended her membership immediately and said she would need to pay £47 to cover fee and admin charges. What a rip off and really doesn't encourage you to continue. Thankfully she's going away in panto so they can stuff their admin fee as she's cancelled.
So they replied with the same answer they gave my daughter who has dyslexia. I can understand they have to be strict but maybe if they had a proper reception area instead of relying on scanning in and out to save money of staff this would not happen. Many people are self employed so get paid at varied times. I belong to another gym so I changed my payment date. In these difficult times they need to look after the customer. As a previous assistant manager and instructor in a private gym, we always believed in customer loyalty. It's all about getting as many to sign up as possible and then if they want to learn how to use the equipment they have to scan a barcode. Health and safety goes completely out the window.

At its prime, Puregym was legendary. Now, it's just a cesspool. Members don't adhere to rules. Bags are brought on the floor, machines are not wiped down, weights a dropped. I guess once you have reached your peak, it's just money-grabbing from there on. Charlton facilities are clean, staff are ok. I would recommend if they didn't charge that ridiculous joining fee.

I was scared to go to the gym because I thought people would judge me and I would embarrass myself because I wouldn't know how to use any equipment but I finally took a leap and went for the first time and it was amazing, they had all the equipment i wanted to use, everyone at the gym is minding their own business and sometimes even help you out if you are struggling with particular equipment for example telling you how to use the equipment properly there is even instructions on the machine.

So far I’ve been loving the experience and diversity amongst us! But I would’ve preferred if there was somebody at the gym to do orientation and probably show newcomers like me because on my first day I barely knew where the female changing room I was about to change at the front locker room😭awks but yeah it’s fine and I kinda like it there aside of it being tooo packed and can’t do too much haha. Oh I also love the fact that you guys provide some sort of water dispenser thing the best thing ever! Thank you
