Joined the gym in Muswell hill
Joined the gym in Muswell hill, cancelled membership after 3 months due to over crowding and equipment not being available in good time. I attempted 3 various times of the day. 11:00/15:00/20:00. This location was busy during all times, which is not unexpected when you pay this price. Unfortunately in this particular location some other gym users were not willing to share the equipment which made a decent workout run into 90/120 min which I don’t have.
I have reverted back to home workouts with basic equipment which gives me what I need so no big loss.
However it would have been nice to workout in the right environment. Just be aware this might not be the location for you if you’re looking to get your workout done in good time or meet friendly people.

No response from membership team…
No response from membership team regarding my Direct Debit Payments. I have been a member at PG Muswell Hill for a couple of years. I made an email enquiry several times to membership team in December 2025 regarding a double hiking of my membership fees. This comes as surprise to me, considering your marketing line of 'no surprises'. Instead of gaslighting me, and responding via no response email please respond promptly to my query.

Left stuff in a locker overnight with a…
Left stuff in a locker overnight with a padlock- assumed this is something I could do as there are so many lockers and they’re always empty. Fair enough that it’s a rule that you can’t leave stuff but I didn’t know this! I was ill so couldn’t come to the gym for a few weeks and I had no idea that they cut the lock and throw your stuff away after 7 days. 7 days is a bit of a short amount of time considering people might be sick or away etc. I can understand all of this however I had just lost all of my gym gear which I was not expecting. The gym manager (short brown hair and glasses) was quite rude about it… I didn’t make a fuss about the fact my stuff had been ‘destroyed’ and she spoke to me in a very belittling way asking “is there a reason why I left it” in the most sarcastic and rude tone. I gave her absolutely no reason to speak to me this way as I didn’t question what was done with my things- I was just confused. Considering the lockers are always empty and I pay a lot each month to use the lockers I’d expect my stuff to be kept for longer than 7 days. My trainers, a pair of leggings a tshirt and a bag have now been discarded of. It was almost like the gym worker took it personally that I was asking about my things which I have a right to do.

We are sorry to hear this. However, ss per the gyms rules stated on the website which we ask all members read before joining:
- Members are asked to only use the lockers for the duration of their training session. Lockers will be emptied at night and members items removed to lost property. Padlocks may be broken to gain access and will not be replaced by Pure Gym.
- Although we will always endeavour to return any articles of lost property to the owner, we do not take responsibility for any item held in lost property. Such items will be kept until claimed, but for no longer than one week after which time the items will either be donated to charity or destroyed. In Scotland, and to Comply with the Civic Government of Scotland Act, valuable items of lost property will be passed to the local Police Station at the earliest convenience and all other items of lost property will be taken to the Regional Custodiers Department in bulk.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Tiny and stinky changing room.
The men’s changing room since the refurb is tiny and too crowded if there’s more than 4 people in it. It stinks to high heaven’s also. There must be an open sewer exposed somewhere-Smells really rank.

The manager is rude and aggressive
The manager is rude and aggressive. The music in the classes is too loud. One of the male pts tries to interfere with female members while they are training, chatting them up even though they are not interested.

I joined to do some exercise but it’s not possible. One of the male pt’s the older one with ginger hair who plays loud music during his classes always creeps around the younger female members trying to chat them up and finds excuses to touch them by pretending to help. Ewww!!

Accessible with a lot of options
Easily accessible, plenty of popular equipment so having to wait is rare and also some more niche stuff if you want to do some specific exercises.

Generally good, room for improvement

The men's toilets had broken seats for months and the managers seem to be unaware. There are no longer tissues or antibacterial sprays on the gym floor or on the massage chairs. The body composition machine now charges 3 lb whereas before it was free, and this is a shame.

I froze my membership for January 2025
I froze my membership for January 2025, I did the freezing early enough, two weeks ahead, yet Puregym went ahead to debit my account.
Also, when I emailed membership there was no response.
Also there is no cleaning stuff downstairs in the main gym ,I mentioned this to the managers who said they only keep them upstairs . This means equipment and benches downstairs are full of sweat and no means to clean them . Unhygienic Puregym.
