2 weeks of no heating inside Pure Gum
For 2 weeks the heating in Swiss Cottage Pure Gym has been off. It's approximately 3 degrees outside and totally unacceptable to expect paying members to put up with arctic conditions inside the gym. It's so cold that people are even working out with winter jackets on. I'm fed up of complaining to management and am actually thinking of cancelling my membership as the conditions are disgraceful for a paying service. I'd like to say that this is the first time this has happened but it's not. There have also been occasions in the summer where the temperature inside the gym wasn't regulated properly making working out almost impossible as it was unbearably hot. Surely this is a massive health and safety issue?
I see many customers complaining to management and still nothing changes. Its very poor service that resource and money is not being prioritise to address these issues.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Alternatively, please get in touch with our team at member.services@purgeym.com where they will be happy to escalate these concerns for more information on your behalf. Great experience and I enjoyed the free trial they gave me for three days which gives you more time to understand and decide to move ahead with a membership. I also like that access is with a pincode which is quite straightforward.

No clear way to do an in-person tour
No clear way to do an in-person tour. The online tour was confusing and tedious. I had to press a button and then someone eventually came out but it was kind of awkward.
Eventually after awhile a guy did come out and was helpful but I didn't like feeling so annoying and it felt uncertain what to do.
Then signing up required a UK bank account and a credit card was not enough, or pay way more, which was not great. I am brand new to the UK.
So it was a rocky start and could have flowed better.
The gym itself is great once I got in!

We always advise that new members have an induction to ensure they are familiar with the lay out of the gym and understand how to use the different pieces of equipment. Inductions are usually placed on the class time table. You can also get in touch with the Gym Manager via email, and an induction can be arranged for a specific date and time. Alternatively, members are able to speak to the staff in the gym (if they are not on the gym floor, please feel free to knock on the staff room door) and have an induction. Simple, straightforward and stress free. Upon payment I was able to access the gym within minutes.

Pure gym, Swisscottage.
It is new, it is cheap and they have classes with excellent instructors! Often classes are cancelled or can not be covered that is the downside.
The temperature of the shower is quite cold and that could be improved. Overall it is a clean and friendly place.

3 day passes @ £12.99 sold for a branch that was closed from 4pm
I bought 3 day passes for Swiss Cottage PureGym for my daughters and me. We checked opening times on the website and it said the branch was open 24hours. But when we arrived there was a notice at the entrance saying the gym would be closing in 25 minutes. We couldn’t find a member of staff until someone came to tell us to leave. When I asked whether we could transfer our passes to another gym he told me I’d have to request a refund on the website. I asked how it was possible to book a day pass if the gym wasn’t open all day. He said “that’s the system and you’re not a member so you wouldn’t be told”.

I visited the gym at 6:30 am and found, yet again, no antibacterial soap in the male changing room. This has been an ongoing issue I reported last week, along with feces being left in the changing room, but nothing has been resolved. When I raised this with Sean, the manager, he rudely told me to “find another gym” if I kept complaining—in front of other members, leaving me humiliated. The soap situation is unacceptable, often watered down or missing entirely, and Sean’s dismissive attitude is unprofessional. I expect better hygiene standards and an apology for how I was treated.

Pure gym has all you need to workout
Pure Gym have all the necessary equipment you need for a good workout. There are lots of free free and fixed weights. The Gym is well managed and tidy.

Mostly friendly people and staff
Mostly friendly people and staff, machines are all matrix so aren’t the best but all do the job pretty well, weights go up to 50kg. Everything you really need in a gym for a lot cheaper than most places

Went downhill
The latest management is absolutely terrible. I was a member for over a year and cancelled my membership recently- there are other gyms around the corner so it's not a smart move for PureGym to act so nonchalantly. The classes timetable is now uneven in terms of cardio vs weight bases classes, classes often get cancelled as management seems unable to retain staff. There used to be really great instructors and classes - there are a couple left but they are clearly unhappy.
I somehow kept getting strikes and suspensions for classes I actually attended, and kept having to involve customer service to remove. I can't be bothered with this anymore.Hordes of kids/teens hog the machines and there is no staff overlooking this. Shame as the space is huge.
