Got trapped inside the building, nobody was there to help. My phone died so I could not leave the building. No emergency exit, it is a FIRE HAZARD

You can also read about unstaffed hours and safety and security in the gym on our website for further information if you are ever unsure: https://www.puregym.com/landing/safety-and-security/unstaffed-hours/ The gyms are always watched over by our 24/7 CCTV team who can be reached via the emergency buttons if an issue were to occur and they are there to ensure all members are safe during their visit. Stale equipment + too busy!
Stale equipment, no age verifications means they let people clearly underage come and take up space (not actually working out, sitting on machines browsing phones)
Don't bother paying extra for things like hydration station, It's regularly not filled up so it just pours metallic tasting water.
On the plus side, Staff seem helpful and always busy!

Hygiene challenged
Decent gym, value for money, it’s cheap and it’s a gym. Decent vibe. But…and this is a big one, it’s soooooo gross. Like if you want to use the toilet be prepared for the stench of urine, wet floors, no hand soap, possibly no loo roll etc. like worse than a busy bar on a Saturday night. I’ve heard the showers are gross too but luckily don’t need them so I can’t comment but based on the toilets I would be surprised if they’re not filthy. There is never anyway to wipe down equipment either the spray is missing or it’s empty. Which means no one wipes anything down 🤢. I’ve taken to bringing a hoody to cover machines I use to protect myself and not sweat directly on the machines. I would also say there’s a contingency of folks here with bad gym etiquette, like holding machines when they’re not using them, borrowing equipment without asking if it’s in use, and there’s a fair bit of staring from some of the male gym goers. But over all the crowd is okay and I don’t feel bad working out solo as a woman. But the lack of cleanliness means I’ll be shopping around for an alternative as that’s a deal breaker for me.

Lovely experience
The staff were extremely helpful especially Eve she was always friendly and her cycle class was amazing, would recommend to others.

We were approached by a member of staff…
We were approached by a member of staff and told us 'its twice now that you haven't put the weight back, can you go and put the weights back' - not even approaching us with 'guys would you mind putting the weights back' or ' guys just to let you know after working out can you just put the weights back' - we left ONE machine with weights on however, we thought it was ok as we found the weights from other equipments that weren't being used. I am uncertain if this is a level of laziness from staff or whatnot. Eventually we put weights back from machines we didn't use and weights we didn't even put in, while he proceeded to chat with his mate. This level of customer service is unacceptable in an environment like the gym. The standard and level of approach is appalling. I hope he does not talk to other customers like this.

I’ve been trying to cancel this subscription down since December. Payments are still going through and we’re in March. You can’t call, no one responds to anything and the link provided to specifically cancel the subscription does not work.

We are sorry to hear you are looking to cancel. If you pay monthly you simply need to cancel the direct debit with your bank at least 4 working days before payment is due. Once your bank notify us of this, your account will begin to cancel down.

Difficult to buy day pass
I just wanted a day pass for another gym and it wouldn’t let me use the same account without upgrading. I’m not going to upgrade for 1 time. Had to use a different email address to pay and get access

If you already have an active membership you will be unable to purchase a further membership, including a Day Pass.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment are fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Good atmosphere, needs more exercise bikes
I liked the atmosphere, the fact you can go 24 hours a day and the accessibility. I haven't given it 5 stars as there were only 3 bikes outside the spin area which were all being used so I had to wait. 3 bikes in a big gym like that is not many. Also, it could do with another bin by the door. Despite those things, I will definitely go back.

Value for money. Disappointed though at the lack of cleaner to sanitise equipment, especially for vulnerable users when winter viruses are about

Recently rejoined the aylsham rd
Recently rejoined the aylsham rd, Norwich gym. And as I am well aware it is an affordable gym, it is a shame that equipment is not kept in full working order. A treadmill I used had a deteriorated digital data screen and a spin cycle had a broken pedal strap. I understand these may not be major defects but paying members deserve their equipment to be in full working order! Also not many sanitising sprays around and on my most recent visit, the only spray bottle I could find was empty so I was unable to clean down after a spin class! So please do better!

Locating stuffs was difficult
Locating stuffs was difficult, opening and closing the doors is difficult because it asked for number instead of qr code.

We always advise that new members have an induction to ensure they are familiar with the lay out of the gym and understand how to use the different pieces of equipment. Inductions are usually placed on the class time table.
You can also get in touch with the Gym Manager via email, and an induction can be arranged for a specific date and time.
Alternatively, members are able to speak to the staff in the gym (if they are not on the gym floor, please feel free to knock on the staff room door) and have an induction. Thanks, PureGym
