amazing gym
So much equipment, everyone minds their own business except from a few creepy men which as a woman alone can be quite scary but overall a really safe, fun experience every time!

Great gym but if possible would like…
Great gym but if possible would like some 4s and 6s weights in kettle bells as they only start from an 8. Would be great to have more of a selection for those who find the heavier weights to much for them.

Great clean facility with plenty of…
Great clean facility with plenty of space, this is not one of thoes gyms where you feel judged, access was simple for my first visit and people of all abilities are able to enjoy a session.

Large, well appointed, friendly gym.
Large space, very well equipped, high quality machines and free-weights, plus floor space for classes.
For me (65yrs old), thumping music too loud and annoying. Very busy during my one-day pass visit, but provision made for training at quieter periods. When busy, far too much distraction for me. But I imagine many younger people require a busy gym for motivation. I train at home in my garden on purpose built callisthenics bars and find this more to my liking than a chaotic gym, with all the noise, but I could adapt if I had to. Great to see so many people working out in a friendly, high quality gym. Good that there’s no contract involved.

Night visit
Night visit; all equipment available when required.Gets a bit cold for me, even without the air conditioning on.
A bit messy as people use weights and drop them on the floor and leave them.

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this.

It’s just a good gym with good…
It’s just a good gym with good facilities.
I always see the manager and her team cleaning the equipment and keeping her team busy.
The staff seem nice and I enjoy the flavoured drinks I get with my membership.
After being away from the gym generally for some time and recently joining this one, I could’ve felt intimidated but I wasn’t.
The membership price feels fair and I like the app that comes with it.
I’m thinking about attending classes next.
If the Portishead PureGym is representative of the other branches, then I can’t recommend highly enough.

Really friendly gym
Really friendly gym, with helpful and professional staff, who really know their stuff.
Their classes are run really well, and push me to achieve my fitness goals.
There is a real mix of people who go there, and everyone is welcome.

Happy to have moved to Puregym.
The staff are pleasant and helpful. Plenty of mat room and lots of equipment - I never have to queue for anything. Lots of car parking space.
I was a long time member at another local gym, never got this sort of experience. Very pleased to have moved to Puregym.

Sweat30 with Alex is a great class
Sweat30 with Alex is a great class. He's well prepared with the class set up and on time for an 0630 start, creates a challenging circuit and pushes you to make the most of 30 minutes.

Takes time to get on kit
Well facilitated gym, it's just frustrating waiting to get on equipment. Especially when people sit there on their phone. Gym staff could do more to encourage people to not hog the kit.

Car parking charges
Car parking charges. I’ve recently just joined and just received 8 parking charges. I’ve tried to get to speak to someone at PureGym about it and there’s no phone number. I believed it was free onsite parking at Portishead. Is this not the case?

Being able to get a full hours exercise…
Being able to get a full hours exercise before leaving for work at 7pm is a great way to set you up for the whole day.
The Gym is never completely empty and whilst few people chat there is still a friendly atmosphere.
Weekend visits are busier but plenty of equipment to ensure a full work out is available.
