Awesome gym
Awesome gym, equipped with a wide range of machines to use; some that I have found to be unique for this gym are the (bending) Ab Crunches and the easy Leg Press (maybe not but I think it's unique, anyway) which are both at the end of the first floor.
The men's locker room is quite compact, but gesturing is key to prevent awkwardness. There are also warm showers - at this point in time many don't have doors, so not a problem unless you like max privacy and don't get the one with the door.

Never thought i would say this....
I have been using the PureGym at Southampton Central for a while now and have been impressed with its cleanliness and friendly atmosphere. It has lots of equipment and people don't mind if you ask how long they have left etc., so that we can all make use of the various machines. My favourite thing at the end of my workout is to use the spa massage bed! I have tried other commercial gyms and stopped going as felt 'judged' I don't get that feeling here.

I was well welcomed when I first entered the gymn and I also loved the equipment but the classes need to be done every now and then plus the trainers do not need to be asked for help but should be there every time to help.

We gave all of our staff 1 day off for the year on Christmas Day to enjoy the day with their family and friends. Majority of our gyms re-opened on Boxing Day. Posters were placed in all gyms advertising the hours at least 1 week before so members were aware of this.

Showers!
Love the staff and the gym itself. Sometimes equipment is out of order, which is going to happen, but most of the time fixed quickly.
I’m sure this has been said by many people but the showers are a major issue. Firstly it’s rare that all 6 in the male changing room are in order and on top of that they are cold! I know this is an issue that is trying to be addressed however it seems to be fixed temporarily then reverts back to cold after a week or 2. This problem seems worse in the winter, however this has been going on for years

Great Value for money
Great Value for money, and very decent equipment levels in all gyms. Staff and members are friendly and atomesphere is always great. Only issue recently has been hot water. I use Portsmouth North & Southampton regulary and 90% of the time showering experience is a miserable one as water is tepid (temperature has been turned down) or regulalry there are signs advising there are hot water problems. Please resolve this problem PureGym hot showers are a basic minimum :(

The water in southampton central is barely warm, despite constantly telling them, the toilets stink and everything looks like a bottle of disinfectant would be useful.
Ok, it’s not the price of David Lloyd but even so, just make the water a decent temperature so I can have a shower. PLEASE.

The new equipment they have isn’t…
The new equipment they have isn’t great, preferred the old ones, they’ve also got rid of some cardio machines. They could have sent round a video on how to use the new equipment as it is confusing

NO HOT WATER AGAIN!
I am having to write a review again because it seems like this is the only way they will fix things. The showers have been out of order for few weeks due to a hot water issue. They have said this issue has been resolved last week but when using the showers the water is ice cold and now there is barely any water pressure at all and instead it's gone worse. People that use the showers in the morning like myself have work to go to after and this is a huge inconvenience as I am paying for my membership and not getting the full amenities. Also this problem has been going on for a long time over a year and especially gets worse in the winter as it seems like they are trying to skimp on the hot water as in the summer it is always hot?

Barely carabiniers for the cable…
Barely carabiniers for the cable machines. Seem to be less and less each week and not being replaced (hardly expensive). One of the lat pulldown machines downstairs has a pin missing from the leg cushion meaning it can't be adjusted at all.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can.

Good value for equipment level
Good value for equipment level. However some equipment is starting to look tired.
Pet hate is when handles etc are taken from machines and not returned leaving the donor machine useless. Other than that equipment availability is good with very little waiting.

Been going to this gym for few years…
Been going to this gym for few years now and have seen the downfall of the management here, have told managers for the last few weeks that the yanga water which I pay for has no flavour as they are to lazy to refill the liquid, the male manager rudely says that I am just trying to get free drinks rather then being helpful when I am paying for this service. Machines are out of order for weeks and don’t get fixed, water pressure in the showers are always low and cold water. Overall bad experience since the last manager has left for the last few months

Staff refill items, and equipment is repaired as soon as safely possible. Sometimes there may be a delay as we wait on parts and/or engineers. If you have any concerns you can speak to the Gym Manager on site, use the feedback box available which is regularly reviewed, or contact Member Services.
We have recently made slight changes to the shower temperature, looking to control our energy usage, and also to reduce our carbon footprint. Our showers are now set at a temperature of 33oC and have a flow rate of 5 litres per minute. These parameters are regularly monitored and we also have regular checks carried out on boilers and associated equipment to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms.
On occasion, we can get faults on our water system which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner.
We really appreciate your feedback, and hope you're able to make the most of the gym and reach your personal fitness goals. Thanks, PureGym

Faulty equipment is not fixed for long periods of time despite telling staff about it.
Changing rooms stink.
Assistant manager is extremely rude and not helpful at all.
Manager is not helpful either.
Staff overall is rude.

Absolute waste of time signing up to this gym unless you go during the day, can't get on anything Ridiculous size changing rooms/ toilets for the size of the gym. Go elsewhere
