shocking unprofessional need i go on
Personal trainers don't stay long, they are either fired for the most ridiculous reasons or move on as they cant afford to pay pure gym fees! A group of us would go to do late classes due to work. Most of the trainers are good & correct you especially for lifting weights. A few are so unprofessional dancing etc. at the front of class no cool down only offering if wanted?! Very dangerous as muscles not cooled down leads to injury.
Seriously thinking about changing gym.

Decent gym
Decent gym could do with an update, Vertical plate loaded bench machine would be a good edition, shortage of plates for such a big gym. Parking is great, A separate room for classes would also be good, instructors/pts and musuc is very loud with it all being one open space.

Good first impressions.
This was my first time at the Sunderland gym (as a guest). I visited during an off peak period around 12:30 pm, so not too busy. The facilities were spacious, clean, & well ventilated.
I got the impression the humidity might change for the worst once it got full as would the wait for machines?
Talking of machines, these were of a high quality although I was disappointed to discover there was only one leg extension machine in the whole building. On the other hand, I thought there were too many of the same machine for the same body part. Will definitely bring my ear buds next time as I found myself being distracted by the noise from the cycle & aerobics classes. Don't get me wrong, these are not criticisms, just observations. The overall vibe was excellent & the other users were really friendly. Once I got used to the layout of the gym I thoroughly enjoyed my workout & I will definitely be going back.

At times the gym is very untidy with…
At times the gym is very untidy with equipment left lying around. I know that that is the fault of lazy gym users but more could be done to put weights, bars etc back. Plus what happens to all the carabiners?

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this.

100% top notch
There isnt really anything bad at all, it was my first time going to the gym, and i really enjoyed it.
They have good facilities, good hygiene, lots of space and a plethora of work outs to do.

Beware scammed by PureGym
Totally scammed by PureGym, do not trust them. Joined up for the most expensive membership because it said could bring a named friend with me UNLIMITED times. Weeks after I joined it changed to bring a friend 4 times a month. Totally dishonest and sly, both myself and my son paid for the best membership because we were interested in the bring a friend unlimited deal. We are going to cancel our membership and join a different gym! We will never use this gym again. Emailed them but not helpful at all.

There was a class on and just for once…
There was a class on and just for once the sound system was turned lower so it meant my ear drums not bursting whilst using the main gym area. Sometimes the music in the classes is way far too loud

You definitely need more machines in…
You definitely need more machines in the gym, especially leg extension machines and machines for shoulders and a bent over row machine, far too many exercise bikes, apart from that the price and overall experience is great!
