Great visit, although I’m a member for a couple of years I haven’t been for 9 months. My passion is road cycling but I was knocked off my bike last year and haven’t been to the gym while recovering. I booked a 30min session for familiarisation, a good decision as the layout was recently changed (no notice or info from the club!!) and the machinery is new too so it was a good visit. Some good tips and info from Dejon too.

It would be nice to get more plates in the free weights section and more variety on leg machine’s especially the smith machine leg press as there’s only one and as a heavy leg lifter theres not many opportunities for it when its always in use when i want to use it

We visited the gym for the first time and were made to feel very welcome by a particular PT named Josh and we now attend the gym at least 4 times a week and have 2 personal training sessions a week with him and he also guides us when we are there without him. He encouraged us so much even when we are convinced we cannot do it and made us more determined to continue and achieve our goals. He has to put up with our moans and groans and does it with total professionalism without any discrimination at all. He is a very likeable person and will do very well with his career as he gains more experience. As an older person who has not been inside a gym for maybe 30 years, he has encouraged and supported me...The gym and the clientelle are very welcoming so thank you...I hope I continue to enjoy my time there and achieve my goals.

This gym is really good and has amazing instructor's. My favourite instructor is Stephen clarke who goes above and beyond in every class he does. He's very motivational

The fact that it's closer to my home.
It's awesome clean and enough equipment's for all, I'm happy to be a member

The good: facilities are generally clean, people are generally pleasant and help each other out if needed, I would say this gym is aimed at beginners.
The bad: not the best for more long-term lifters. Although it may seem like there's a lot of equipment e.g. dumbbells and plates in the free weight side, there just really isn't. If you've got a few people on the benches and a couple in the squat racks, then you've got no chance at getting the weights you want. You may be able to get a bar, but you'll be building it up with random 2.5kgs you can find on the floor! Even if you time it on the app so there's around 70-80 people in the gym, you'll still struggle to find equipment free. Imagine what it's like when there's around 150 people in peak time! For this reason, I usually try to go in after 10pm when it's quieter, but that isn't always possible. This gym needs to invest in more plates so that the handful of 20s or 15s etc. haven't got to be shared between around 10 different bars/pieces of kit.

Descent sized gym, most of the PT are helpful and knowledgeable. Some machine very stiff and need oiling and some are out of alignment, not great from a safety point of view. We all aware people leave weights etc all over place and is a broth hazard again and I’ve read as back as 2021 that pure gym are finding ways to police this…. Who knows maybe we’ll have a religion by 2030. Ok onto the main point… people having to train in coats, hoodies and hats as it’s so cold… again we will be told to take it up with the manager when they fully aware how cold it is but very slow to act if they ever will. Even the staff who work there and it it’s cold( more than one). I’m having a day off today and looking forward to not seeing people wipe there noises and with tissue from their pickets and having to wipe mine with blue roll. The members are friendly and the changing rooms way to cold to get changed in or to shower. Like a member told me, “it’s warmer outside than it is inside” think that sums its up! It’s a shame PG not responsive to customers as it’s them who keep the gym open.

How can the gym advertise its opening hours as 24/7 when they pick and chose when they’re open? Surely this is misleading advertising or even false advertising.
Will you be compensating members for the cloisters over the Christmas period?
It’s never been closed over the holiday period previous so why now?

Requires a number of machines updating. Machines are tired, out of balance or out of service.

App is annoying as QR code to access takes a while to load.
Deadlift equipment and bumper plates severely lacking. Benches were all wobbly in free weights section by dumbbells. A lot of the equipment seems dated.
Lots of cardio equipment available and the rig for freestyle training is cool, but the sleds are a bit rubbish as they don't glide unless you put a lot of weight on them.
There's a lot of space which is good.

Heating not working, has been 'freezing' in the male changing room since the refurb. No one seems to care 'not my job, ask the manager'
Club needs a refresh of equipment, this continually is promised but never materialises.
