Christmas gift

I used QRStuff to create a single code for a Christmas Card. I did not realise that the free version would cease to work after a few days during which time I had had
100 cards printed. I was initially unable to recover the code but then Annette in customer care stepped in. She not only found the code but explained that by taking out a month’s subscription the Christmas Card code would work over the festive period. She then helped me cancel my subscription when no longer needed
Excellent customer service, my emails answered personally and promptly. Thank you so much

QR code Xmas Treasure Hunt

I used QRStuff service to create a series of QR codes to be found as clues in a Christmas treasure hunt. I did it for my family because I was going to be on the other side of the world at Christmas and the time difference was 11 hours. What I didn't realise was that my codes would time out. When I contacted their support, even though I had used a free account, they very kindly reactivated them for me and now my family can go back to the hunt! Fantastic! They are loving these clues and the QR codes can be cut into pieces that need collecting and reassembling to trigger the video messages I made. Great fun. Thank you QRStuff.

Fast & efficient!

I thought I was getting a free QR code but I wasn’t. I had already put the code on a card when I got a text saying my time was up. My own fault for not reading more carefully. Anyway when I realised I had to pay their service for sorting everything out for me was fast and efficient. I will be paying more attention in the future!

Choose any other site!

I strongly advise against using QRStuff for any business-relevant QR codes.

We created a QR code through their platform and printed it on hundreds of professionally produced folders. Without any clear warning during creation, the QR code became inactive the moment the subscription expired — turning all printed materials into waste.

QRStuff deliberately generates dynamic codes that depend on their servers, and once your plan ends, they simply break the link. You must then pay again just to keep the already printed code functional. This is a highly misleading and customer-hostile practice, especially when used for business materials.

When contacted, the support confirmed that the only way to reactivate the code is to buy a new subscription, even though the code already exists and was created in good faith. Converting the code to a static version — something many other providers offer — was refused.

In my view, this is not a service but a trap: the moment you rely on the QR code in physical materials, you’re locked in forever, or your codes simply stop working.

We have forwarded the case to EU consumer-protection authorities for review of their transparency and subscription practices, and I strongly recommend others to stay away from this platform. There are many better, fairer, and more transparent QR code providers out there.

Later edit because of the reply of the company: I specifically offered to pay a one-time fee to change the dynamic QR code to a static code, as it was mentioned in another one of their replies to yet another 1-star-review. This was refused. It is most certainly techically possible, yet they won't do it, because this is their business model!

Reply from QRStuff

I’d like to clarify how our system works so that others reading have the full context.

QR Stuff offers two types of QR codes:
• Static QR codes, which are always free and remain active permanently.
• Dynamic QR codes, which rely on server-based features such as destination editing and analytics, and therefore require an active subscription to stay enabled.

When a dynamic code reaches its scan limit or the subscription ends, it pauses until the subscription is renewed. This is not a case of intentionally disabling a QR code, but simply how dynamic QR codes operate across all platforms.

It is also worth noting that after an email exchange with our support team, you chose to sign up for a Full Suite monthly subscription last month. The subscription page explains the differences between Lite and Full Suite, including scan limits and the time-based nature of monthly plans. Because of this, the scan-limit behavior should not be unexpected, as it is part of the plan you selected.

Static codes remain free and never expire, and many customers choose them specifically for long-term printed materials.

Worth noting, you cannot directly change a dynamic QR code into a static one because they have fundamentally different structures. A dynamic QR code contains a short URL that can be edited, while a static QR code embeds the final destination URL directly. To achieve the effect of a static QR code, you would have to generate a completely new, static QR code from scratch.

I've been using QRstuff since 2022

I've been using QRstuff since 2022. I've received excellent service and have trusted the company as a teacher, year after year. Although this technology has been outside of my comfort zone, I have managed to do things I never thought I could. When I have a question or an issue, the support staff at QRstuff is friendly, patient, and helpful. I have referred anyone who has asked to QRstuff! You won't regret it!

Good experience

Updated - turns out you need to create an account, apply for the free plan then use the automated support tool to transfer the QR codes to the free account. This worked really well so I'm happy. Their online support tool is very smart.

Really poor experience so far
Unfortunately didn't realise that these guys would charge a whole year subscription for a single QR code placed on a birthday invitation.
Their "monthly" plan is actually an annual plan

QRStuff.com does not clearly state that…

QRStuff.com does not clearly state that their free QR codes without signup stop working after 10 scans. Instead, the scan tells users they have to create an account and takes users elsewhere, not the link I intended. This makes these codes of very little use. I found the 10 scan limit after-the-fact in very small font on the FAQ page. This is not the proper way to keep users informed. I would never have used them if I had known this, and it seems deceptive that such an important aspect of the functionality is hidden in the middle of the FAQ's.

There was a little catch

There was a little catch, as the page offered me monthly payment, but when I clicked on it, it wanted to charge me for the whole year. But the support helped me with that and also made my previous, non working qr code, work again.
