Terrible, full of scammers, and ripping sellers off.

Terrible, and full of scammers. I had someone click the 'buy now' button for piece of jewellery then they sent a phishing link to my mobile pretending to be from Ricardo and wanting me to enter my bank details to receive payment. I sent Ricardo a screenshot and they confirmed it's a scam and now they want me to pay their fee then make a claim to get it back! What the f%*k!? They should sort this out on their end within minutes by deleting the buy request and re-listing the item which is still showing that it has been sold. Seems to me that Ricardo as scammers just as much as the fraudster.

Am with Ricardo since the year 2000

Am with Ricardo since the year 2000 - that's 23 years now. Selling pretty much all my old stuff via Ricardo. So .. kinda fanboy. Well, pricing has gone trough the roof - paying 12% is too much, my sold items have gone down and the number of cool items sold on Ricardo is in a decline. So - old days good - now, not so anymore.

Not bad but weird policies

Overall good product and experiences, but my account got blocked for no apparent reason.
On a separate occasion, I wrote a neutral (not positive) review about a seller that was sub-par and it was removed for reasons I don't understand... In other words, they keep only the good reviews, so it's hard to know if a seller is really trustworthy or not.

Avoid this website at all costs!

ARNAQUE! This platform is a huge SCAM scheme.

This platform is a big trap. They do not to protect the buyer or provide any help nor customer service. There are people selling the same products, SCAM. Many sellers having more than one account and using one of their accounts to display their contact numbers for the buyer to call on the description, it's a trap. Not to mention that the platform is just in french, italian and german. They make that ORANGE bottom like a click bait, because that bottom looks like you're contacting the seller and not making a bid (FOR English speakers that doesn't know none of the languages)

Stick with using EBAY, AMAZON and sites where you know there are a trustfull customer service. Plus to call ricardo customer service it's a paying line 1 franc per minute. have that in mind.
NOT TO MENTION THAT to call them you're charged much higher than the normal charge!!!

I double this other customer words:

"Ricardo doesn’t act as an intermediary for the transactions, as opposed to other platforms; private data are disclosed and/or exchanged at the time of transaction, annihilating any form of privacy in case the buyer/seller deals with a scammer;
no control and no action (i.e. no protection policy) on shill bidding, rather frequent among some ‘pros sellers’ boasting 100% excellent reviews. It suffices to check & cross data to see the mechanism in action. Reporting (as already done from my side) brings no action from Ricardo to curb this practice (legally speaking this can be considered as a fraud) … at Ricardo they keep sleeping;
No gray or black list for fraudulent activities. I reported some obvious fakes on sale (replicas of expensive calipers, .. also in this case the selling of fakes is legally prohibited) but no action was taken on Ricardo’s side… ‘pecunia non olet’.

It could be a serious on-line bidding marketplace, but as long as the ‘easy business’ mentality prevails also on Ricardo’s side, the utmost cautionary approach is necessary if you decide to participate. Hope it helps.

Erratic moderation

They took down my offer, although my account had been validated. They demanded the invoice of the product I wanted to sell. Having received that, they started asking for further personal documents ignoring the fact I had already passed the validation process. The moderator seems to fail some basic reasoning in her work.

4 points you should be aware of

1-Ridiculosly expensive commissions on sales for no special service offered in exchange;
2- laughable buyers’ protection (max 250.-). Ricardo steps in only after the buyer has insisted, without success of course, to find a settlement with the seller. Needless to say that the initial hassle is on the buyer’s (or also on the seller’s) side.
3- As for the above, Ricardo doesn’t act as an intermediary for the transactions, as opposed to other platforms; private data are disclosed and/or exchanged at the time of transaction, annihilating any form of privacy in case the buyer/seller deals with a scammer;
4- no control and no action (i.e. no protection policy) on shill bidding, rather frequent among some ‘pros sellers’ boasting 100% excellent reviews. It suffices to check & cross data to see the mechanism in action. Reporting (as already done from my side) brings no action from Ricardo to curb this practice (legally speaking this can be considered as a fraud) … at Ricardo they keep sleeping;

horrible

horrible! I was scammed on Ricardo 3 times with fake items! and they do nothing about it. Just best to stick to ebay - at least some buyer and seller protection. Avoid dealing with Ricardo - full of fakes and staff of ricardo does not care of his customers.

SCAMMERS

SCAMMERS! The team at ricardo are absolutely terrible. They dont care if people sell fakes. They don’t care if you report that someone sent you threats messages. And they blame everything on the customer even when the customers give them proof of the misconduct of the sellers.

Beware that there are plenty of fake products sold on the platform. And you cant do anything because ricardo.ch say they are just the platform to connect sellers and buyers and they are not responsible of anything else.

Never felt so ashamed pf a service and the people working there. They are very rude and disrespectful. I contacted 5 different people by phone and email amd they didn’t help in anyway.

So be very careful when selling and buying using this app. I absolutely do NOT recommend it.

Bidding

I made an errant bid on Ricardo for a particular collectible. Mea Culpa, but an assistant with Ricardo corrected my bid.

An honest review from a 15+ years user...

I have been an active user for almost 15 years and I have seen all colors. I am not liked what it is becoming in recent years.
It has always been a servants centered on users, buying and selling and exchange.
However, it has recently evolved into something different and users have turned into numbers for them.
Here are the 2 changes that got the service worst for me (I am a user since 15+ years on ricardo):

a) Do you believe that globalization has not arrived in Switzerland? Recrende yourself, Goldbach, Ricardo's mother house who acquired it, has dozens of famous sale and news sites. It's a global company now that completely lost their mission, values and user-centric vision.

b) His assortment began to fill up with users who make drop-shinging, publishing new and poor quality products from China on the portal. Certain with many negative reviews. The waiting times to receive the article clearly are Chinese ... or 15-30 days !!!

I denounced all this to Ricardo's support, also because there is a question of personal data as the dropshipper must make a command from Aliexpress and communicate my name, surname and address !!!

But their answer was "that's ok for us, we accept the publication of Drop Shipping Products... you can choose not to buy them from the article page".
And HOW DO I KNOW that it's dropwhipping!?!? How do I know that the seller gives my data to china? How do I know that I need to wait for 30 days to receive my good??!? It's up to ricardo to filter that stuff, otherwise if I want china stuff... I go straight to aliexpress or alibaba isn't it?

Ricardo's support has worsened a lot: in addition to the response times that have stretched, you have the impression of being a number ... regardless of how many yearsi of history in the portal you have.....
