Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 196 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the customer service to be extremely poor, often encountering automated responses and bots that failed to provide actual help, making it impossible to speak with a real person. Customers frequently reported issues with account access, especially concerning two-factor authentication and old email addresses, leading to being locked out of their accounts. The support system was criticized for closing tickets without resolution, blocking users, and repeatedly asking for information already provided, creating a frustrating and unhelpful loop. Some people were dissatisfied with the product itself, noting persistent bugs in games even years after release and a lack of updates for certain online modes. However, some reviewers were happy with the support they received, stating that their problems were resolved quickly and efficiently by staff.

My Epic Games account is wrongly linked…

My Epic Games account is wrongly linked to someone else's Rockstar account (email: fifalov@**********). I never linked this. I just installed GTA V recently.

I opened multiple support tickets and each time Rockstar asks me to verify the email/account that isn’t mine. I can’t do that. I’m just trying to unlink my Epic account from an unknown Rockstar account.

I can prove ownership of my Epic account.

Rockstar support is stuck in a loop. Can anyone from the community or staff help escalate this?

Decided to write this review because I’m pissed off at this company’s response. Judging by other reviewers they’ve all had the same issues as me. My old email account which has been erased and gone linked to my steam account with gta v and red dead 2 online. Tried telling rockstar that I can’t access my account. They told me to tell them a date when I did this made the account told them i couldn’t is their another way what did they decide to do? Close the ticket absolute bastards

Very disappointed

Very disappointed - Paid for games that don’t work

I bought GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (Original/Classic) on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher. I paid 615 MDL (~30 EUR) expecting to play the classic versions of GTA Vice City, GTA 3, and San Andreas.

But only San Andreas works (barely). GTA Vice City crashes with errors like “Cannot find 640x480 video mode” or “unable to launch gta-vc.exe due to lack of privileges.” GTA 3 starts, but menus are missing and the screen is broken.

I tried everything Rockstar Support told me: reinstalling the launcher, changing compatibility settings, running as administrator, verifying game files – nothing works.

I contacted support but haven’t received a useful response yet. I feel like I wasted my money, and I want a refund.

Please fix your launcher or give players the chance to get their money back.

– A very disappointed paying customer

This game is bad

This game is bad. I bought the game and shark card then I get banned for breaking the rules. How is buying the card that they sell breaking the rules? So I got banned and reset for buying their product. This should be illegal and they should refund my money for the game and the cArd I bought. They take your money and they banned the account. I even bought the GTA v +. I even been taking to their support team with game issues I been having to play the game. And they banned my account for what? They won't even tell me. I want to warn everyone to not support a game company who is abusing the player, taking the money then banning them.

Shit Customer Service.

So recently I tried recovering one of my Epic Games GTAV accounts, I installed it, waited for rockstar games launcher to boot up, and a weird email appeared like it was already registered like Irvzuac at uniromax.com. I've went ahead and investigated a bit into namesilo and searched for the uniromax.com website and it came to an address in the US. No company is listed there, just some banks and a cafe. I then went ahead on their website which is uniromax.com and it is just a plain, 2 minute HTML page made for the lolz. It is absurd that all of this hustle from my side which could be done from the Rockstar Games Support personnel itself and realise "Hey this thing is a scam, and this acount is hacked". Well, people with a big enough brain would realise it. Waisted 3 hours of my time into going back and fourth with support and nothing ever happened to it. This is the original owner of the account, I changed the email address to another one on Epic Games and that is it (Kind of irrelevant)

Unable to run Red Dead Redemption 2

Among the many others complaining about this, due to my Steam account being linked to some old email address from many moons ago, I have been unable to play Red Dead Redemption 2, a game I paid for with money I worked hard for, I'm also unable to refund it via Steam.

Due to Rockstars rigid and frankly ridiculous policy, I'm also unable to unlink this from my Steam account.

I have raised numerous tickets for this with these references:
#33305968
#33305988
#33306003
#33306007
#33306023
#33306033

Despite being open for all of a minute on every single one of these they've seen fit to mark them as resolved despite doing absolutely nothing!!!!!!

Company is clearly happy to waste peoples time & money and should frankly be pulled up by trading standards, not that they will

Honestly some of the worst customer…

Honestly some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my short time dealing with Rockstar.

I've raised at least 5 tickets all because of GTA online in as many months now to find inexplicably that my online account "doesn't have permission to access GTA online". No reason why, no way to resolve and every time I raise a ticket which they have a cap of by the way regardless of whether any previous ticket issue was actually resolved; then I get an automated message saying they'll look into this and respond within two days only to then get another auto reply 24hrs later saying "as we've not heard from you we're closing your ticket".

What a piss take, I'm still locked out of my account, can't raise a new ticket because theres a cap and they'll just resolve a ticket without ever reading your email or looking into your query so ive literally wasted countless time, money and energy to a company that will gladly take my money but never actually try and help customers when the product they've sold you doesn't work.

I lost access to my Rockstar Social…

I lost access to my Rockstar Social Club account only because of the 2-Step Verification code being sent to an old email I no longer have access to. I still know the password and provided:

My original and current emails

My Social Club nickname

The official Steam receipt (with transaction ID and date)

Approximate dates of email change and account linking

Full explanation of the issue

Despite sending all the correct information, Rockstar Support closed my tickets with generic replies like “we can't confirm ownership,” without explaining what was missing.

I even created a detailed PDF with all my evidence and asked for escalation to a supervisor, but received the same copy-paste messages.

This is not customer support — it's neglect.
I’m locked out of a legitimate account that I paid for, with no fault of my own.

Rockstar needs to treat players with respect and actually read what we send.

Days ago

A few months ago, my account was hacked. After recovering it, I played GTA Online daily for over a month — grinding money, buying high-end vehicles, properties, and the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack. I spent millions of GTA$, most of it earned through hard work.

When I bought the GTA V Enhanced Edition to migrate my character to PS5, I found that the hacker had already migrated it — back when the account was a low-level with nothing. I contacted Rockstar Support, and they said they could undo the migration.

After they reversed it, I re-migrated the account and found the same low-level character again. Rockstar only gave me level 50 and GTA$10 million — nowhere near what I had earned. I also noticed I lost the 1 million bonus from the Starter Pack.

Worse, my PS4 character was now wiped and overwritten with the low-level version. My account was essentially deleted. I’ve reached out to Rockstar multiple times for help and have been brushed off, ignored, and had my tickets closed with no clear answers.

All I’m asking for is a fair resolution. I invested real time and money into this account. Losing it all and getting told nothing can be done is incredibly frustrating.

Unfair Account Lockout – No Real Support From Rockstar

I've lost access to my Rockstar Social Club account because it was linked to an old iCloud email I no longer have access to. I provided proof of purchase, Steam profile, and all requested info multiple times. Yet, every time I open a ticket, I get copy-paste responses, and my tickets get closed without proper review.

I’ve owned this account for years and spent real money on GTA V. I’ve done everything possible to prove I’m the owner, but they refuse to help unless I access the old email—which I clearly stated I can’t.

All I’m asking is for a human to review my case and help update my email so I can play the game I bought. This level of support is unacceptable from a company like Rockstar.

evil treatment of disabled customers

hi i bought the original gtav on steam years ago and made an account with my email at the time. unfortunately i havent had access to this email for a couple of years now and i can no longer play gtav or the enhanced version which i really want to try because as soon as i hit play in steam, im prompted to verify the old email. i have tried repeatedly to speak with customer service to get help and they keep closing the tickets.  i've included my receipt of the original game purchase multiple times as well as offer to show proof of ownership of the linked steam account and provide photographic id. all of which have been completely ignored. customer service keep copy pasting the same replies, they refuse to ACTUALLY speak to me and then keep telling me to give them more information but they lock the tickets so i cant reply. this is absolutely appalling treatment and seems very much like a scam to get people to pay for the games again since i can see from many many many online posts, this has happened to lots of people. im disabled and have barely any income so i cant afford to buy them again, nor should i be expected to. if this isnt resolved, then you're pushing me into pirating the software THAT I PAID FOR in order to be able to use it. this is absolutely shocking treatment and frankly puts me off ever purchasing from you again because you can't be trusted to provide adequate customer service.

Lost access to over £200 worth of games…

Lost access to over £200 worth of games because of their ridiculous "Social Club" (AKA passive-aggressive DRM).

I had made the mistake of using an old, throwaway email address to create an account, a long time ago, thinking "who cares, I have already bought the game on Steam, and that's where my proof of purchase is, I don't care about this extra marketing nonsense". I now no longer have access to that email and can't log in. I thought this won't be a problem, I can just prove my ownership and get the licenses transferred over to a new account, like you do with any other company... and that would be possible, if they weren't too cheap to employ actual humans for customer service.

So I tell them I can't access my old email address. They reply "that won't be a problem, just log in to your old email address and show us the email that PayPal sent you". Clearly this is an AI. It takes days of back and forth before the chat bot finally realises that you can't access something that you no longer have access to - and yes, for whatever reason, there is a simulated 24hr delay between responses. Then they ask me "what was the exact date that you first installed Max Payne 3?", and then they immediately close the ticket. And I mean immediately - I was at my computer when the email arrived, and the ticket was closed by the time I hit reply.

I tried a few more times with them, opening a new ticket each time this insane chatbot suddenly decides that the issue has been resolved. Eventually I gave up, installed cracks for all of the games I bought, and resolved to never buy another game from this company again - if I want to play one of their games, I will pirate it just like I did with the ones I purchased legitimately.

I changed email's and the old one no longer exists. I spoke to Rockstar support and they asked me when I linked the game on Steam. I still have Steam so I checked and gave them the exact date. They closed the ticket.
Given the other replies here it seems this is a deliberate strategy from Rockstar, if you want to play the games you'll have to purchase them again.
