Legit, if non-standard in many ways
It’s been a while since I ordered from Roucha but I Googled them today and came across these terrible reviews. I was surprised! I’ve ordered approximately $2K in Roucha clothing over the years and have firstly, found the clothing itself — especially items made in the Korean viscose — to be of exceptional quality. As for the issues with shipping: I’ve both returned and exchanged items and have never personally experienced any of the issues described here. Additionally, while I don’t know the company’s owner, I do know folks who have modeled and designed for them — they are real, living people.
I think the issue here is that Roucha is a small business that went all-in on Instagram marketing, which makes companies seem bigger than they are. Additionally, they do indeed have policies around shipping and returns that aren’t standard-issue. People are used to buying fast fashion and returning at will, in any condition. I don’t think Roucha can sustain that, as a brand or business.
The clothing is unique and the cuts are ahead of their time — they’ve been reviving the horseshoe leg for years. I own everything from sweatpants to gorgeous wool outerwear and I always receive commentary on their silhouettes.
Buy as you’d like but this is definitely a real, breathing brand.
Roucha is Exquisitely Beautiful
I see negative reviews coming from people who I believe don't regularly wear Roucha, nor have taken the time to learn about the company.
Roucha is a foundation in my daily wardrobe. I have over 30 pieces, and have worn their beautiful clothing for years. If the fabric of a particular piece can't be made in the US, it is from Korea, which has beautiful textiles that are responsibly made. When I've needed a return or exchange, it's been refreshingly straightforward. When I've had questions, I email (with human kindness!!), they are in touch with me right away, and the situation is easily remedied. This is a wonderful, woman-owned business, and Jill has been in touch with me, personally, on more than one occasion. She highlights international women as designers and collaborators in growing Roucha collections. This brand is all about being inclusive based on female intellect, intelligence, and creativity in being comfortable and elegant in daily living.
This is the worst online shopping…
This is the worst online shopping experience I have had, from the quality of their products to their customer service and return policy. I wish I could give less than one star. I feel like I threw so much money away. Just don't shop here. I wish I had researched before shopping from them.
I would give zero stars if possible
I would give zero stars if possible. I bought a good looking warm jacket from Roucha, on sale and after several attempts to zipper this jacket without success I resorted to only using the snaps. Realizing this zipper was never going to be functional I contacted their customer service and was told that since I had worn the jacket there was nothing they could do to help!! Too bad, this is a nice heavy metal zipper & will eventually work!!! And so, their defective product was now mine forever & they felt zero responsibility. BUYER BEWARE…..zero integrity…..
Terrible returns policy
Terrible returns policy. Dont buy from them unless you want a lot of hassle. If you buy with part gift card and part cc they just keep returning the gift card first and charge high return fees. Also takes forever to process.
Do NOT waste your money on Roucha
Do NOT waste your money on Roucha. I need to warn everyone about this company's shady practices and terrible quality. They advertise a "30-day return policy" but conveniently bury the fact that it starts from your order date, not delivery. I ordered during the holidays and basically got screwed - had to pay $40 in expedited shipping just to get my returns back in time.
The quality is a complete joke. Every single pair of pants I got had the labels sewn on backwards (seriously, how does that even happen?), and everything felt cheap and flimsy. Definitely not worth the prices they're charging.
This company clearly doesn't care about customer satisfaction - they just want to make returns as difficult as possible and hope you'll give up. Save yourself the headache and shop literally anywhere else.
I am dealing with a $40 return fee
BEWARE. Like many users below me, I am dealing with a $40 return fee, which is exploitative and is not properly labeled at ALL across their site. I was completely unaware I'd be charged this as they tout infinite easy returns. (Mind you, my items were returned within 5 days, unworn and in original packaging.) I'm deeply frustrated.
5 years of Roucha orders
I’ve been ordering from Roucha for about 5 years. I don’t want to minimize anyone who had a bad experience with them, and I’ve never returned anything so this if my perspective from the purchasing experience and the quality/wearability of the clothes.
I have found the size charts to be accurate, however I want an oversized look. Perhaps it’s better to size down if you want a closer fit. I am 5’8” and weigh 178. The size C has fit me in almost every piece I’ve bought. One jacket I bought I sized down to a B because I wanted a more fitted look.
The quality: I haven’t had any quality issues. I machine wash cold and hang dry. My items from years ago still look as good as they did when I bought them. I’m really impressed with the quality of the clothes.
One little thing I didn’t like with a couple shirts from 2019, they attract a lot of lint. I need to keep them far away from my cat.
Wearability: I have a couple pairs of linen pants that I wear daily. I walk miles through the city in them and they just get more comfortable. The colors are still rich and the only thing I have noticed is very minimal pilling is the upper leg area where my thighs touch.
If I make a return in the future I’ll update my review to reflect the experience.
Beware of this company
I purchased many items from this company. Then I paused. I recentley purchased a pair of pants that I wanted to return. I wrote to three times and DM’d. They did not respond to me. I find this is happening more and more with online stores that have no means of verbal communication, only online. I will never buy from this this company again and I am stuck with something that I do not want and have paid for. They do not honor their return policies and they do not get back to you.
I really want to help Roucha get this…
I really want to help Roucha get this star rating up. I’ve had a few experiences with them and they have been getting better and better. It’s clear they are listening to the negative reviews and improving. I don’t always love every item I order but they have some really unique cuts. Give them a chance. Read the return policy before you buy to know what you’re getting into! (It’s getting better!)
Different Experience than Others—GREAT!
I don’t understand the negative reviews. Roucha is legitimately top notch! I’ve purchased six pants, one top, one belt and one bucket hat from Roucha starting January 2023. The products are uniquely designed and expertly constructed. I’m 5 feet tall, 120 pounds. The AA size is perfect for me. I’ve received several items (socks and leather wallets) using my Roucha rewards points. I’ve exchanged one size A pant for the AA, then ended up returning them after all. I’ve returned one pair of denim pants. The process was smooth and I received my refunds promptly. I’ve purchased sale and regular priced items. I look forward to continue buying Roucha’s artfully designed clothing!
Not a scam, got the clothes, but...
I don't think this business is a scam like others are claiming, but I do think their returns are a bit bad. I was recently charged $30 for a return, but then I was charged only $10 for another return. I've ordered from Roucha a few times and been happy with the clothes. The cuts are really unique and the fabric is decent quality. I like to wear loungewear all the time because I work from home, and their stuff is a perfect mix of slightly dressed up sweatpants for me.
Worst company ever
Worst company ever. Literally impossible to get any customer service. Horrible return policy. No recourse available. No questions answered. I lost $500 bucks on items because they made me wait for responses for returns and by the time they answered the window closed and they wouldn’t accept returns. Don’t buy this junk.
Buyer beware
Buyer beware! The side charts are grossly misstated and when I tried to send my return they charged me $60(!!!!!!!!!!) in return shipping. This feels insane for a company that mistakes sizing and has no retail footprint. Scam!
Very Pleased
A couple of weeks ago I ordered three pairs of pants from Roucha, and ended up keeping two pairs — both were nice, hefty fabric and seemed well-made. After reading these reviews, I was concerned I might have trouble receiving my refund for the third pair, but I received my refund about 8 days after returning the item. I was very pleased with my dealings with Roucha, and with the items I received.
Faith restored!
Edit: after writing this, I heard back from customer service. They had been inundated with requests and were very apologetic and helpful. My faith in the company has been restored and that is great because I am really enjoying the pants I had kept from them. They are fun, high -quality, and are holding up to quite a bit of wear. Thanks Dessa and ROUCHA for resolving this issue for me!
(Old review below)
As a new customer I ordered several items in a different size, intending to try on and send back. Unfortunately there was an issue with shipping which Roucha DID resolve by filing a claim with the shipping company, but when I wrote back to them requesting some further help to return the items, I was met with no response. I politely explained that I had generated a return label for three items, gave them the order #, and said that the generated label was not valid in Canada (where I was stuck with the items - I had them rushed to me in the U.S. intentionally so I could try and send back but because of shipping issue I ended up having to rush AND pay customs on them in Canada). It was a complex situation but I gave two easy solutions - asking them to help me by issuing another label, OR extending the returns window. I emailed them about six times over the next weeks, always politely restating the issue. I received absolutely no reply nor acknowledgement, only an auto-reminder that my return was about to lapse, and promotions trying to sell me their items nearly every two days. It was frankly infuriating. I was happy to use the excuse to do an "infinite exchange" but now I have read the fine print (should have done this in the first place but assumed a small, female-owned business would stand by their customer care and help when contacted), and the items can't be exchanged if they were purchased on sale apparently (?!?) even though the company is STILL selling the items and they are still being sold at the same price. Now I have lost several hundred dollars, have no way to contact the company so that they will actually reply, and am stuck with clothes that don't fit. I worry that if I try to just send them back at this point, they will resell them but not ever acknowledge my return nor give me any sort of refund nor exchange. I no longer trust this company at all. What a waste and what a disappointment.
Nonexistent customer service - company feels like a scam - buyer beware
Much like other recent reviewers, I ordered an item from Roucha, it was too big, I returned it and it was received unworn and in perfect condition within 30 days of order, and (after inquiring about the refund delay) they’ve only written me back once to tell me it has been flagged for further delay. Since then I’ve written them 3 more times over the past two weeks with no response. The customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced and the company feels like a scam. I almost never write any kind of review, especially bad reviews, but this is the first time I’ve experienced something like this from a “legit” company.
I’m genuinely just bummed and disappointed as it seemed like a fun company, with a cool founder (loved Totokaelo), carrying unique and great products. Beware.
Update: without any response they returned the item to me, stating "excessive pet hair and lint" like other people have said. It's literally covered in lint and maybe cat hair? I don't own a cat and it definitely wasn't covered in lint when I sent it over. Laughable.
Now convinced this company is truly a joke and I hope they fail. I can't believe they're able to get away with what they have.
Scamming customers, fraud, horrible service
I am having a similar experience to those written below. I returned a bunch of items (worth $910) and my return was not processed when it reached the warehouse. After two weeks in their warehouse I reached out about my refund and was told my return had been flagged and they couldn't give me any other info. This was a month ago and I have written every week trying to understand what was going on. Today I received a box with my original order shipped back to me and a note that my items could not be returned due to "excessive lint and odor." All items were returned in unused condition with tags on them, in original packaging. This claim about lint and odor is an extreme lie and it seems like the company is doing anything possible to deny customers a refund for returns. I have photos of every item in their bag with tags and the items are clean and unused. They are just lying to keep their money. Don't let people return things if you don't want to deal with returns, but don't scam people by having a return policy that you then refuse to follow. Absolutely horrible experience with no customer service to help.
