Late Certification

My current certificate was due to expire on 29/0I/2026. I submitted my self-assessment for approval on 19/12/2025.
A Technical Support Officer contacted me on 22/01/2026 asking for further clarification, which was duly attended to and resolved within an hour.
From first thing on 29/01/2026, my company was inundated with requests from our major clients to provide them with a new updated certificate. A number of them suspended all activity with my company until a new certificate was forthcoming.
We chased Safecontractor to find out what the heck was going on. We were told that my assessment had been forwarded to an auditor for checking and appraisal. Meanwhile I had field crews on several sites suspended by the client.
Eventually, at 3:00pm on 29/01/2026 a new certificate was sent to me. It was immediately downloaded onto all of my clients' portals and the 'suspend' notification was lifted.
Safecontractor were given almost six weeks notice of my submission before the expiry date, yet allowed the date threshold to be breached.
Why?
The stress and anxiety of having to explain this to my clients (and my field engineers) was unnecessary.
During the course of this transaction, I spoke with three Safecontractor operatives, each of whom were most helpful and accommodating. However the unacceptable delay in the process leads me to conclude that the root causation is likely down to systematic issues.

very streamlined

very streamlined, fast approval when you have the correct paperwork, preparation is key in order to complete this accreditation in a timely manner, but if you have everything in place the process is very simple.

Long progress - lots of evidence

Long progress, a lot of documents required, also waiting on internal staff providing evidence, I find the process quite ridgid without flexibility

Over complicated onboarding process

Over complicated onboarding process. Payed for a speedy two day turn around. Only to be told once we had payed they had a backlog due to Christmas. Never offered any type of discount. Another company I have we went with Chas. Will use them in future. Much more efficient and personable

Every year

Every year, the renewal process surprises us with inconsistent pricing, lacking clarity and justification, as it seems to be arbitrarily set. Recently, our charge increased by £200, and when we sought clarification on this amount, we faced evasion and a lack of transparency in the pricing details. It's best to disregard any prices mentioned on their website. Although we qualify for the deem to satisfy discount, they consistently bill us the full amount, only applying the discount upon reminder, which feels quite deceptive. If an overpayment occurs, refunds are difficult to obtain. We encounter these recurring challenges annually, dealing with staff who are not particularly helpful.

The Safe Contractor team is easy to reach and will take the initiative to resolve queries. They establish clear two way communication & give simple clear instruction concerning requirements. Being able to easily answer a query or put our question forward via email or phone does make a big difference and simplifies achieving results.

SCAMMERS

SCAMMERS - they are refusing to delete our payment information from their file and plan to charge it despite us not authorising them to. That amounts to fraud. What an unprofessional desperate bunch of grifters, AVOID at all costs, in particular the very unhelpful and ill-informed account management team. What a shameful bunch.

Decent Performance

Liked the process & communications, liked the availability of the on-call support team.
Disliked the delay in obtaining the certificate, when it was promised to happen earlier. They just have too many clients to deal with, I guess.
