Do NOT use this business. We paid upfront for 2 months, then they changed our contract halfway through to say they would automatically charge us an extra month at extortionate cost unless we contacted them many weeks in advance to confirm that we were still moving out at the agreed date (and with only one single email which went to our junk mail - apparently making this legal).

This company will change your contract with very little notice and charge you hundreds of pounds - seriously consider giving your business to any of the many other storage companies.

Let me start with i have used safestore for over 10 years on and off, changing to different storage companies when safestore would hike up the prices (like most storage companies do.... its always been an enjoyable expereince until now!!

i moved to safestore dixon blazes in glasgow in april 2023 (under the i would probably stay for around a year ) possibly more if everything was ok...but 4 months in we have come across a big problem with the actual area....right next door to safestore in dixon blazes there is a shiska Bar which is very roudy especially late at night. now this wouldnt be normally to much a problem apart from my staff who are mostly all female who have to go there late at night mainly at the weekends feel very intimadated with the crowds around the outside of the unit and driving around...

thats the background now getting to who i have given safestore 1 star (i would give less but it doesnt let me ) after speaking with the (i think manager or temp area manager) who had the worst customer service argumentative attitude i have ever seen from a manager i am left shocked with the attitude that his company holds, i asked him repeatedly to put himself in the situation of a20 something lone female...who has to get out her car ....open a padlocked gate then drive in close the gate again to then go to the storage unit ...i asked him to try and understand how intimidated these woman would feel....now he just didnt get it and his attitude was ...well you have a years contract ....so safestore really dont care about there customers safety (well at Dixons blazes in glasgow anyway) which is why i have now put this to my legal team to pick apart this contract and passed on all recordings of the conversations etc as i wont let safestore away with this attitude ...

I have rented a unit with Safestore for my business for over 18 months, intending to stay for years. At the start my rent was £150 per 4 weeks, then 10 months later it went up to £303, then 9 months later it went up to £602!!!! I could not understand why it would go up by so much over such a short space of time. I called around all other storage companies and typically getting quotes for £180 - £200 for the same unit size. I had to move out of my unit, my business was affected due to the disruption, not to mention the stress involved. A new customer was offered my unit for £180 per 4 weeks with 50% for the first 12 weeks!! Apparently this is standard practice for this company. They rip off loyal customers by hiking their rent up all the while offering cheap deals to new customers. If you are looking for long term storage DO NOT USE Safestore. Just want to add the staff at the store were great, shame their head office have such despicable business practices and treat loyal long term customers which such disregard.
