Brilliant customer service !…

I booked a cruise with sea scanner yesterday . I managed to book the wrong cruise to my absolute horror. I filled in the form you fill in on the sea scanner site to inform them of my predicament. It said it could take upto 3 days for someone to get in touch . However after about an hour my phone rang , a lovely lady said don’t worry I can see what’s happened , I’ll ring p&o and see if they would be willing to amend it . A little while later the lady rang back had got it all sorted out , I didn’t have to pay anything at all to amend the booking which really I should have had to . Not only that but she also linked our booking to my dad’s for us . Absolutely brilliant customer service and I will be using sea scanner again .

Best cruise comparison site

Seascanner is easy to use and always quick in responding to our inquiries or bookings.

However, we had a 10 Euro credit from a previous survey and even though I requested it be used toward this cruise, it did not transfer.

Don't use SeaScanner, book with Cruise company directly

I would like to share our experience with SeaScanner.
In summary, very poor customer service and we would be able to avoid 1350 EUR loss if we didn't use SeaScanner. If you expect any changes with your booking, it will be very inconvenient to use SeaScanner as it add one extra layer between you and Cruise company. In addition they are German based company which may have language and communication barriers for non German people.

We booked a cruise on SeaScanner and paid 20% deposit(1350 EUR). Recently we found on the cruise official website(HAL) a much lower price (60% of our price), not to mention extra 200$ on board credit.

When we asked SeaScanner for reprice(since the final payment is still months to go), they just told us no change can be made within 90 days before departure. However when we called HAL customer service, they have no problem to reprice us to the new fare, but when HAL customer service tries to make the change they found that they don't have permission to do that in their system due to that we booked from a travel agency(SeaScanner) with German office.

We had no idea it was a German based company and we are very unsatisfied even HAL offer to reprice SeaScanner just refused our request with zero intention to assist us.

Since the new fare is even much lower than the final payment, it makes no sense for us to continue with the purchase. We paid about 1350 EUR as deposit to SeaScanner, which is a big loss.
It's is also uncommon as a travel agency, they don't even provide a phone number to call, just a tax number and email contact.

Thank you very much for your quick answer to our inquiry. First of all, we are very sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our customer service and booking with us.

We are an online travel agency with many years of experience and a specialization in cruises. We are based in Germany (https://www.seascanner.com/company-details) and book with the German office branches of our very well-known cruise line partners. Our Seascanner.com emails are all translated into English, but some cruise line documents may still be in German as we are booking through the German branches of the respective cruise line. If it is possible with your selected cruise line, we will request the documents for seascanner.com bookings in English and we are also always glad to assist with translating from German to English to make sure that you get all relevant information.

In general, we as your booking travel agency are taking care of your questions/requests, forward and clarify these - if necessary - with the cruise line and make sure that all of your topics related to your cruise are answered before you join the respective voyage.

In your case, as you found a cheaper rate and price for the cruise on another website, the request regarding the price adjustment of your booking was beyond our control and was surely forwarded and clarified with the cruise line as requested. Unfortunately, this requested change was denied according to our partners' terms and conditions for the German market (which are presented to you while booking and which need to be accepted in order to be able to place the booking). These state that it is not possible to make price reductions within 90 days prior to departure.

Please kindly note that there might be different terms and conditions as well as sometimes also rates for the different countries/markets available and only the respective terms and conditions of the market that you have booked in apply to your booking.

Furthermore, a cancellation free of charge is not possible at the current time according to the terms and conditions. We as a travel agency don't have any influence on the terms and conditions of the cruise lines in any way, e.g. cancellation policies or price adjustments. Also, we do not charge any additional Seascanner.com fees to our customers.

We hope that these explanations were helpful in answering your requests. Ying Wang, all in all we still absolutely understand that a huge price difference between the time of booking and the current prices leads to your displeasure. Please be assured that we are using every possibility that we have to in order to achieve a more satisfactory solution. We are still in talks with our partner and will get back to you via email as soon as we have an enhanced offer for you.

I was disappointed that I was redirected to a website in another language

I was disappointed that I was redirected to a website in another language that I could not understand. With the current amount of phishing and online crime I did not feel comfortable paying this way and would have preferred to pay the agent.
Due to concerns with this process we elected to cancel and book via an agent that we could talk to in person.

Seascanner is a German company and everything will be written/sent to you in German

Seascanner looks great in English. It's a great website. The problems start once you make a booking. It is done in Germany. Everything comes to you in German. You cannot then contact the cruise line in your own country. The cruise line apps will be in German. The people sat at your dining table will be German. Etc. Etc.
