Absolutely the worst experience I ever had with any trades person in my home. He measured and received deposit. I was told ten days lead time. Weeks later and several calls later he arrived. Drilled holes in window frames the decided to drill the walls instead as the blinds did not fit properly although he had measured the windows.
All rubbish left behind, did not even pick up screws that he let fall. I had ordered blackout blinds for bedroom. There was a gap at the top of the window of about 5 inches which allowed light in. I said I wasn’t accepting that and he said that he could not hang correctly and told me that’s the only way they could go. I advised that I was not accepting that and he drilled more holes reluctantly and hung the blinds higher up the window.
Today what prompted me to review is the fact that the sitting room blind actually fell off the window today. The screws fell out of the wall. Never again would I order from him or allow him into my home to make a mess.
The worst experience I have ever experienced
I purchased day-to-night blinds from Shades of Dublin, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The initial installation was problematic; the blinds arrived unfinished, with broken parts and missing material. During the installation, the fitter was in a heated argument on the phone with Darren about the issues, which was quite unprofessional.
After the installation, two of the blinds were sent off for repairs, but the fixes were poorly done, with bits of material glued on. Darren also took away the cassettes for replacement but never returned them. To make matters worse, when he came back to my house, he was aggressive and even blew vape smoke at me. He insisted I owed him €90 despite having paid the full balance, claiming the original quote was underpriced.
Since then, Darren has not returned to repair my blinds, and my calls have gone unanswered. Overall, I am very disappointed with the service and quality provided by Shades of Dublin and would not recommend them based on my experience.

If I could give 0 I would Darren needs to see a professional therapist....he thinks he knows better than everyone else.. shocking customer service and couldn't hang a blind properly... I ordered a small bathroom blind 7 weeks ago. I explained to Darren I would not be at home Monday to Wednesday but would be available on Thursday and Friday he gave me 3 different appointments and never turned up...apparently his time is more important than everyone else's. Darren arrived to fit blind Thursday...Was not happy.. the blind DOESN'T sit right it's smaller than the window, I told Darren this and he 100% said it was my "windows fault" 🙃 he then fought with me over the price he gave me...he said 195 euro when I ordered it he then forcefully told me I was wrong about the price..he said he told me it was 180 euro!!! Why on earth would I have 195 euro ready instead of 180 euro. Makes no normal sense

After install one of the front plinths on the venetian was missing. Two years, over 20 calls and all the promises later still not delivered. It's been ordered apparently 10 times and will be personally delivered out but still nothing. Showroom has moved since but I'd recommend going somewhere reputable as I've given every opportunity for it to be resolved.

Shades of Dublin are the worst company I have ever dealt with. Darren was rude and uncooperative, he refused to take my calls after numerous texts. Refused to exchange shodden badly made blinds, kept saying he will get on to the supplier but never did. Now I'm left with broken blinds plus one pane of shutter windows not fixed properly. Please DO NOT BUY from him. Never came across anyone like him. I paid a lot of money for window shutters. Sent him a registered letter which was returned to me unopened.
Un professional install
I have had a very unpleasant (for the lack of a better word) install of my blinds. one of the installers was very unprofessional did not have a step ladder and stood on my sofa, I gave him a kids chair to stand on, he then preceeded to stand on my radiator With his full Weight and I had to ask him not to stand on it. Then after the installation, I was using the large blind in the living room and it came out of the bracket and hit me on the hand. I rang the installer to return and on his return he said it was beacuse their was a slant in the wall and that he should of seen it when instilling the first time. I emailed Darren and never even got a reply or a call to see if I was OK. Not even an apology for the awful experience. I wish I would of read the reviews. I would not have gone with shaids of blinds dublin.

Guys please don't use these no care for the product or the staff can't even provide a payslip against the law that and offer a salary you won't receive and the customers for repairs get the run around I will put one up every day folk and just to confirm the review from the 11th of October 2024 is not a.correct review it is the bosses partner that should be taken down Ashling
Avoid this company at all costs
Avoid this company at all costs. You will spend your day's constantly chasing them up, getting half an apology and shoddy work. They do not know how to provide a professional service. The two fitters I had in my home provided very low quality work, blinds not level, one fitter didn't even bring a ladder to put the blinds up, had to use my kitchen chair and then fell off and dropped the blind and cracked it. They did offer to replace the blind but at this stage I had them out twice already and had nothing but problems and terrible quality work and promises they never kept. Promised delivery dates that dont come, excuses about drivers being sick and they lost my ventian blind another time.The cords on their blinds are cheap and completely unsafe for children. They claim they have a snap cord mechanism but even with this the cords are extremely long and still a strangulation hazard, anyone with children would agree.
I brought them to the small claims court and they never showed up. The court awarded in my favour and they haven't paid or made contact with the court since. Don't make the same mistake I did and go ahead and order with them, they are lovely to start and so accommodating, and as soon as the deposit is paid that all goes out the window.
***edited to say- still no payment, and last Friday evening 22-11-24 the venetian blind fitted by shades of dublin came crashing down on top of my shoulder!! Luckily my 2 year old was not underneath it as it could have killed him, PLEASE avoid at all costs it is not worth it! These blinds are NOT SAFE!!!!!! **

Had previously purchased blinds from this company about 6yrs ago and they were great, that's why I went back to them this time and now kicking myself I didn't read these reviews before ordering. Ordered the exact same blinds as I had previously purchased only in a different colour. Paid deposit of €450. Fitter arrived and the minute he hung the first blind I knew it wasn't what was ordered. Darren was obnoxious and rude when I called him to explain & tried to make out it was my fault, but I now see from other reviews that this is his MO!!! Like another person said the material that arrived on blind was not the same as material picked. The blinds looked like something from Shein! Save yourself the hassle and loss of deposit and stay well clear of Darren. Horrible experience but now I see he's done the very same to others ,making them think it was their fault, I realise he is the problem as we can't all be wrong!!! Must say though Tracey in the office & the fitter, Chris, couldn't have been nicer and were extremely understanding.

It was not the agreed fabric I had asked for the same blinds I currently had just in a different colour. Videos were sent to you of both blinds and the difference in same. Judging by others reviews I'm not the first to say you said one thing at point of sale and something different after complaint. Seems to be your MO. I am out of pocket €450 for deposit paid and then you wanted the balance of €900 owed for blinds I didn't order and then on top of that thought you were doing me a favor saying you'd replace the material at cost price!!! Replace with the material I had ordered in the first place!! As I said I don't seem to be the first person to have had a similar experience with you so we can't all be wrong.

The most pathetic blind company and the highly unprofessional people and big time liar. I don't know where to start.
I ordered the blinds, they delayed the installation for 2 months and then blamed me that I didn't called them to chase up. Took all the money.
Then when darren came, he never came to site to measure and during installation did half work as he said he didn't have the stairs, then again we waited for 1 month.
We ordered 2 remotes, with which he only brought 1 remote and blamed on me that I didn't remind them, highly incompetent people.
After the installation, the blinds are not working as the solar blinds battery is discharging too fast and they were not coming for call outs neither getting the phone.
Someone in the office picks up everyday and says darren ( always sick and on leave) will come back and he is not there.
It's been months now and no solution.
Then I broke the remote screen, which they said they shipped it, but was never shipped, big time liars again lying.
Also, the blinds are not working. After 2 months I bought the remote and paired the blinds, which they said you are not allowed to touch which was complete contradiction that they showed us to pair the blind with the remote.
Now it's been 9 months, the blinds have been ordered, and they are not working. These were freaking 600 euros for 2 fakro blinds, and they just took the money and sleeping.
Just don't even think of getting work done from these people. Darren is the owner and acts as if he is an employee and always on leave or not available.
Complete disaster. And this is not a unique or one off situation, this is persistent with them.
I am talking to my solicitor and will take strict action, no matter how much money I have to spend on this.

Well where do I start the worst experience I have ever had. That man Darren came out to my home 22nd Feb I wanted a shutter blind guaranteed me it will be ready within 4-6weeks 1,150euro I thought that’s bit high but he gave me the speil about inflation and how everything Is gone up nowadays. I am just raging I ever went ahead with it. I paid using humm so this conniving person got the money straight away. I just happen to check the reviews an my heart sank they are total scammers. At 3weeks I called to see was my blind ready I mentioned about the shocking reviews online and that I am now worried about my shutter blind I was assured by Andrew that it’s ordered (even tho he could not see it been ordered on the system) an will be ready in timeframe 6weeks. On the 7th week I get a call from Darren asking can he come out to measure my window again… He told me it’s because he’s changed manufacturers. It’s been back and forth ever since I am asking for my money to be refunded and he just ignored it saying I need to come out and measure. Then I txted on 18th of April saying just fit the shutter since it’s already ordered at this point I felt defeated and he said it will be ready when it’s ready haha haven’t heard anything since. It is now coming into May and still no shutter blind I just want my money back and still nothing. They emotionally abuse their customers and make it out like it’s their fault. You cannot treat people like this.
