Terrible
Terrible.
All went ok.
Then when I got home they said there's a scratch on the edge of the door. Which I didn't not do.
Now they want £280.
Disgusted
Sixt Cambridge
Sixt Cambridge. The best rental. I rented with them 3 times in the last 6months. They always helped me last minute, offered the best cheapest deals, always checked in with me in a very friendly and warm way. The pick up process is super easy too as well as you can bring the car after working hours and it's not a big deal. Really really good experience.
Pickup and return was easy peasy
Pickup and return was easy peasy. Car was immacculate. Will use SIXT again!
DO NOT GO TO SIXT !
DO NOT GO TO SIXT !
I received a different van than on my rental agreement and then received a fine for the van that I didn't drive. Customer service is appealing as no one on the phone can resolve the issue and no one reply to the several e-mails I send. Never go to sixt !
Customer service is so important and…
Customer service is so important and here's why. The service desk guy was brilliant, he did up sell us but that's fine it was good advice and it is a hilly island so having a more powerful car was good. From that point however it all went downhill.
We walked out to find the car, it was a little confusing to find the bay as parts of the bay system are really clearly marked but the higher numbers are not. We tried to ask a Sixt member of staff and frankly they could not have been ruder, they simple ignored our question and walked off. The car was in a terrible state damage wise all over, it was also dirty and the link to my phone did not work although it appeared if you have an iPhone it would so we navigated by map and my wife holding her phone. I looked up the car on the internet and it should have talked to my android without any issues. The service warning light flashed for the whole time we had it as did a warning light for an oil change. So we spent quite a lot of money on a car that was obviously bottom of the their list in terms of care. Would I use them again. maybe, but there not top of my list anymore.
Be careful when traveling to Nice…
Be careful when traveling to Nice Airport Terminal 1. The Counter staff try to upsell you with free upgrades that end up costing you money. Do fall for it.
Great service
Great service. Rented a car from Jersey airport. Welcomed by Francisco, so friendly & helpful. Would use again in future .
Easy to return just parked and posted keys.
Good service and Car but unexpected charges
I was happy with the rental. The given car was above my expectations and the Personnel was professional and polite. The car was returned while the office was closed so I had some trouble finding a free space to leave the car in the indicated zone. What I disliked is the fact that while i was fined because as a tourist i did not know that i had to pay online the tolls for crossing a toll service, Sixt paid the fine and charged me an additional £40 administration fee , more than the fine itself, without leaving me the option to pay it myself. I find the fee excessive and an accounted excess.
I rented a van from Birmingham ladywood…
I rented a van from Birmingham ladywood branch and upon return they claimed i damaged there side mirror with inconsistent scratches. The van was badly damaged from the roof with loads of dents and scratches before my rental which i had to take pictures of myself when they should have shown me a damage sheet and did a walk around the van with me before rental. They also charged me extra £43 for fuel when the lady said its ok if its slightly under, and they said i only used £8.74 of fuel but charge me £43. Never rent from Sixt. Awful company
I use this company on a regular basis…
I use this company on a regular basis and have had no issues with them at almeria airport friendly staff cars very clean booking online very easy to do would recommend
I rented a 9 passenger van over two…
I rented a 9 passenger van over two months ago with Sixt. A week before I was to pick up the rental I changed the pickup time by one hour. They responded by providing a 5 passenger car at the same price. Not what I wanted or needed. Several emails back and forth they kept telling me they trying to resolve it. They never did. I had to cancel it as there was a penalty if you did not cancel within 48 hours of picking up the car. I had no choice as I had to book with another company. Sixt told me there was not a vehicle available then they said there was but would cost me double what I had prepaid. After cancelling they then charged me a €99 cancellation fee. Unbelievable!!!
Beware being charged twice
Booked with booking.com, paid in advance. All fine when picked car up but charged the full price on my AMEX by SIXT despite prepayment. 3 emails later trying to get a response from SIXT, nothing expect please review us. Now in the hands of AMEX.
Shoddy and ruined an otherwise good experience
Excellent service at Malaga airport
Picked car up from Malaga airport. Car pre booked was not available but very good alternative provided. Excellent customer service at counter. Was offered upgraded car but declined due to additional cost.
Return was handled very efficiently and final invoice provided.
This experience was totally different to one of their competitors who on my last four hires have added unjustified additional charges on return. - all four were refunded after raising complaints on return to UK.
I will definitely be using Sixt from now on in Malaga.
OK but ….
Pick up arrangements satisfactory. Staff very efficient and friendly. Car ordered not fully functional but alternative (upgrade) provided at no extra cost.
Return would have been difficult as staff wrongly claimed that the car had been damaged … however, not an issue as I had paid for the absurdly expensive “no excess” insurance.
Generally, Sixt expensive as a result of extra charges for facilities provided by others as standard … eg use of satnav / Apple CarPlay.
Marylebone, London, UK
Picked up the car from Marylebone/London (as I've done many times before). Agon and Beata (as always) very helpful. The car (Mercedes CLK) almost brand new. A very convenient location for central London. Pricing from SIXT seems to be demand driven (I must have picked a good/slack week as the rate was very competitive).
Two very different experiences
I have had two very different experiences with Sixt. One experience I would want to give 5 stars to, the other deserves less than 0.
Firstly, the 5 star experience. I hired a car from Jersey airport. The staff there were fantastic. Really good fun, really friendly and very good at their job. The car I hired was great and I was delighted with the whole experience. There was a little mix-up with receiving the deposit back, with Jersey being a franchise of Sixt, so it took a while and a bit of chasing for the money to come back...then I got double the money, so I had to chase them again to give it them back. However, despite that, for the service I received and the great experience in Jersey 5/5.
On the other hand, I hired a car for just over 24hrs in Birmingham and this is possible one of the worst customer experiences of my life. I would avoid the Birmingham branch at all costs! Picking up the car was ok, but it did not feel very professional and the young employee who organised the car for me asked for me to review him with 5 stars so he could get a pay rise. I picked the car up on a very busy day and it was evening, so I failed to take photos of the car prior to driving it (also, I felt rushed out the car park as they were about to close). On returning the car the following day, which was easy. I received a note saying they had noticed a scratch on the boot/back door of the car (I had not gone near the boot during my use) and they were charging me £700 for the repair! The repair costs included a replacement badge, a new light and a number of other excessive costs. In addition, this survey was made well over 24 hrs after I had dropped the car off. I tried to politely address it with the Sixt team, who did not budge. I escalated this to the BVRLA (who investigate unfair hire car claims). Sixt, promised to stop chasing me for the money whilst this invesigation was ongoing. However, they did not. They began to threaten me with debt collection agency. I eventually managed to get through to them and make them understand that it was with the BVRLA and they relented from chasing me.
The outcome of this situation remains in this position...awaiting the BVRLA's decision.
I think overall, Sixt are a decent company. However, this experience, has made me to never consider hiring a car from the Birmingham base and possibly across the whole of England!!
Very professional staff and quick hire process
The staff were very professional, polite and understanding. Firstly we were late picking up car from cruise ship, but when we arrived it wasnt a problem and our car was waiting for us. We had to change the car after a small accident and again this was no problem and they dealt with it quickly even giving us an upgrade so we could get on our way as we had a long drive, When we took the car back, this was also dealt with quickly, we had left our charger in the first car and they managed to find it for us. Brilliant Team
Sixt are an awful company. Will never use them again. They falsely accused us of damage and then rip you off
Sixt are an awful company. We hired a car and they accused us of damage. No time stamped photos taken and only sent photos with a report dated 8 days after car was returned!! Butt despite much backwards and forwards emails with Sixt Austria saying we had no incident and did not see any damage, after they threatened us with debt collectors we had no choice but to pay. The car we hired already had lots of minor damage on it and they’re quite clearly do not repair. They just falsely accuse people of damage and send ridiculous quotes for repair. They never sent pictures after alleged damage was repaired or an invoice for works. Just a damage report & quote.
Also when we collected the car at Salzburg airport (booked via 3rd party) they told us car we had rented was not big enough and so they gave us upgrade for extra £140 approx to do so. Travelling with our family hiring 2nd car who were told the same thing and having young kids we just wanted to get on road quickly. Reading reviews on this site this is something Sixt have done with many other people - upgrades required & false accusations of damage. Buyer beware and do remember to video or photo car before and afterwards. Our fault we didnt do this!
Great experience from the start... exceeded my expectations
Great experience from the start. Easy to use online booking system and regular/appropriate communication and updates. Daniel and the team at the Edinburgh office were awesome! In fact, it is fair to say that there wasn't anything else Daniel and the team could've done better. They really did exceed my expectations. I would absolutely rent a vehicle again from SIXT and would recommend SIXT to family, friends, and colleagues.
Terrible after sales service
Rented from Sixt in Switzerland. Paid extra for roadside assistance insurance , car broke down and phoned company and they weren’t bothered , rude and hung up several times . It 3 days of phone calls and complaining before they came out . No apology , no compensation and top of that I get back from holiday and see they have charged me an extra £200 pounds than I was quoted . Avoid this company at all costs
