Avoid at all costs! Absolutely terrible.

We booked a cottage based on Skye cottages advertising a property as 5*. However, when we arrived it clearly wasn't 5*. The property had been renovated to a very low standard and as cheap as possible. Very poor quality kitchen, bathroom, furniture and terrible beds. The exterior was as bad. Skye cottages refused to accept this and even though they hadn't actually visited the property as they claim they do. They are still advertising the property as 5*. I guess by maintaining 5* in description the more money can be charged and the the more money they make. Very disreputable and dishonest. Avoid them, there are much better alternatives out there.

If I could give it less than one star

If I could give it less than one star. I would shocking customer service. Preying on people that are too ill to take the date. If they want to cancel lose more than £600 if they want to change the date they want another over £1500 pounds. Would not let us split the date or change it too less time avoid using them.

The Worst Customer Service I have ever had Used Sykes for many years and have been…

Used Sykes for many years and have been very happy. 2020 though was a totally different experience. Had to cancel due to Covid Restrictions and Wales was closed to tourism. wrote many time with no replies just one phone call asking for full payment. Still not had our refund. They were quoting English law/rules on Covid and took no notice of Welsh rules. Will never use them again. All they were interested in was getting the money.

Skyes Cottages are CROOKS!

Absolutely shocked at the lack of customer service and complete run-around from this company. Very responsive when they are wanting and demanding your money, yet a complete lack of response when they have taken your money!

We are a group of 20 (including 7 families) and booked a cottage in the Lakes for the end of Feb 21.

Prior to booking last May, we checked what would happen with reference to Covid-19 and were assured that they had refund policies in place for if we were unable to go.

Our final balance was due on 15th January so we spoke to them with our concerns as to the fact that we live in a tier 4 and would be travelling to a tier 4, along with discussing the previous ruling of 'rule of 6'. Skyes Cottages response was: It is not illegal for your group to travel and therefore we must pay the remaining money due - in total we have now paid them over £2000 knowing full well that we will be unable to travel.

I totally understand that we must not cancel and must wait for the holiday company to cancel, however it is totally illegal for us to travel in such a large group and they certainly should not be stating in writing that it is not illegal for us to travel.

Additionally, the property we booked was for 20 people however it has now been relisted for only 18 people. Their T&C's state that if any change in the description which would alter our experience, we must be advised, however we have not been. We have spoken to them about it in person and via email and at this point ...... complete silence!!!

They now have over £2000 of our money and are not responding with reference to either the change in description nor the Covid regulations. I would strongly advise anyone not to book with this company of absolute crooks!

Stay clear of this money grabbing company

Please stay clear of this company, they are absolutely ripping people off!!

We had a first family holiday booked in March in wales but due to COVID-19 we had to change it to September. At the time we was ok with that and was told we didn’t have to pay anything more. Then 2 days ago they tried to take another £189 out for admin fees, so I tried to ring them (on hold for 2 hours everyday) but nothing at all. Then today they have cancelled the our holiday without any warning and now It’s not showing in my Skye account and yet again the money grabbing d*cks have closed the phone lines down AGAIN!!!!

This company are making it impossible to get through and will do anything to take your money. My wife is a nurse and has been working her ass off in this lockdown doing 15 hour shifts and for skyescottages to treat us like this is a joke.

We have lost £780 now and for us with a 1 year old, that’s a lot of money. We are so disappointed but hopefully they will get what they deserve soon.

I had cancelled my holiday booking…

I had cancelled my holiday booking online 12 weeks before the start of my UK holiday (due to COVID). I received a message on their website that the booking was cancelled and I would receive an e-mail confirming that, also that no further funds were going to be taken out. They then took the funds out anyway (over $1,700). I e-mailed but only got an automated message in return stating they were very busy at the moment. Seriously? I'd give them a 0 star rating, but that wasn't an option. In the middle of a global pandemic they are money grabbing. Disgraceful.

Republic of Ireland quarantine

I have previously used sykes to find a cottage in Ireland. I was looking at that property again and have been plagued with emails since trying to encourage me to book. When I did phone them they had absolutely shocking poor and incorrect info with regard the gov.ie quarantine regs and the passenger locator form for visitors arriving in the republic particularly travelling via northern Ireland, but coming from the uk. They said ..." oh no quarantine required " but thats for when you get back to uk...not when you get to rep of Ireland...asked who would be responsible for accepting a passenger locator form given you did not arrive via Rep of Ireland port or airport...well no clue!
Possibly probably property owners!!.BEWARE. please check out Gov.ie first

Appalling and uncompassionate service.

Appalling and uncompassionate service.

My wife had a brain haemorrhage and stroke followed by two life saving operations at Addenbrooke’s hospital and I phoned Sykes for advice about my up and coming cottage booking.

I was advised that no refund was to be offered and that I needed to cancel and if anyone else booked my slot they would then refund. With the coronavirus pandemic there was unlikely to be any chance of this.

Sykes Cottages took full payment for no service offered. I’ve had previous holidays with Sykes and certainly will not be using them again.

RIP off..as keep your money

Ok. I booked a cottage in Cornwall 10th june 2020
Paid in full
By the 17th received email from.skyes saying owners have cancelled
An email, no phone call
In my skyes account it said the funds are there for a next booking
Okay, so what if I don't want to book again I thought

It took 90 mins to get through on phone
The lady said I can't have money back

Wow..
So, I had to book somewhere else, not even near the area I wanted, an hour drive away in fact, plus this one was cheaper, and now I have money sitting in account towards another booking

Very bad business indeed
