I won’t be shopping here again

I won’t be shopping here again. I left work early and travelled over an hour to pick up a toy in store due to that being the only purchase option available, yet got sent away from shop saying item out of stock. This was despite your online service still saying you had two in stock well after I left. I submitted a complaint who said sorry you feel we let you down on this occasion 😳. Shocking response and absolutely no resolution to wasting my time, having no toy and a sad child also being out of pocket from leaving work early and cost of fuel. Im so disappointed of this system failure at their end and will be making others online aware!

Overpriced

Overpriced, refused to refund.
I mistakenly brought an item for £12.99, which was a duplicate of one I paid £5 for in Argos. Neither did what I wanted.
No idea if a receipt was given, by time cc statement appeared we were 4 days over 28 days.
Store credit useless to me.

Joie double stroller with MAGNETIC…

Joie double stroller with MAGNETIC clasp brought from Smyths

In brief this stroller was brought in good faith for 18 and 6 month old babies.
My 18 month old grandson opened the clasp in seconds. 3 separate videos were sent to Smyths showing this and they forwarded them onto joie.
This was only realised when baby opened the clasp and fell out onto the path causing injury.
Smyths requested the return of the stroller which we did the same day so they could forward it onto joie. it took several weeks for this to happen.
In the meantime an email from smyths was sent to me outlining their conclusions from in store regarding the clasp which read
FOR A MORE ADVANCED CHILD THE CLASP SHOULD BE COVERED WHEN OPENING!
THE CLASP IS FOR QUICK RELEASE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT!
I strongly disagree with the above statements. They refused to define a more advance child he his 18 months old. Quick release clasp is the cause of an accident.
I suggested that this should be in the product information so potential customers could know this information. Would we have brought this stroller definitely not.
Following JOIE examination of the clasp they phoned me and sAid the accident was caused by a BEHAVIOURAL ISSUE this was then confirmed by email from Smyths who informed us this was Joie conclusion and they agreed.
( I have all emails, videos and photos which I am happy to share)
This stroller was brought with a harness. Maybe we are NIAVE thinking a £200.00 plus stroller or any stroller in fact for a baby from birth to 4 years would be fitted with a CHILD PROOF SAFETY HARNESS! Not so maybe it’s not advertised S a childproof safety harness that however was our expectation . The conclusions from SMyths was never confirmed or denied by Joie they only confirmed caused by behavioural issue.. Please consider the quick release which was the cause of an accident. No words can describe how we feel over these statements. Also the refusal to amend product description and advise potential customers of these points. They are obviously accepting no blame for these magnetic clasps just the infAnt.
I am sure many have been sold and customers have been happy with this product but one accident to a 18 month old is one too many. The consequence have we have pointed out could have been so much worse.
We have given one star only because it was the lowest seriously they didn’t deserve even a zero.. Customer
Services have been unprofessional on every occasions. They have repeatedly mis informed us. They have ignored emails. This department reflects badly on Smyths TOys.
It was very difficult to get a refund which they got a credit note for from joie. The saga continues over a loaned pushchair.
We posted a review on Joie and interestingly they asked that we removed that we had a refund and £300.00 gesture of goodwill. They have not clarified what the goodwill gesture is for I can think of many.
Joie then put a reply onto the review apologising for SMYTHS TOYS again with no explanation why they are apologising for SMyths toys they are obviously unhappy with how Smyths has responded to this complaint. No apology from JOIE tho who actually supplied the stroller. We have never had an apology from Smyths direct to ourselves.
This is my second attempt to put a review onto SMYTHS.
I have many emails of concern but time is valuable to me. I am so outraged by this I will continue contacting all sellers of this pushchair. I am a grandma and I want my grandchildren to be 100 per cent safe ma with a childproof safety harness fitted. We have learnt a lesson we will check all products actually have a CHILDPROOF SAFETY HARNESS.
Thank you for your time in reading this review I hope it has been of some help.
Unsure of exact date without going through endless emails.

Searching for a childseat.

Searching for a childseat as Grandparents we found to be a bit bewildering. It was 30 years ago we had to buy one and now. . Oh how things have changed. The issue was finding one that would suit our smallish car. The maker called Joie had a model specifically designed for small cars so off we trott to the Norwich Smythes who were showing stock.
This is where we met Stephen the child seat specialist. He was brilliant.
He took the display seat out to our car, fitted it, showed us the do's and dont's, allowed us to have a fiddle and see how it all worked, took us through all the regs of how it needs to fit and then answered all our questions without any hesitation. He knew exactly our problem with the choices and settled our minds into making the right decision. So top marks to Smythes and to Stephen.
Would definitely recommend them for making sure you are in the right hands when it comes to your little one's safety.

Employee Rob Drogheda store

Employee Rob (as per my receipt) from Drogheda store is an absolute breath of fresh air. I am frequently in Smyths (toddler mam) and he is incredibly, helpful, patient and has an amazing way with children of all ages. He goes out if his way to have a pleasant interaction with my daughter every time we visit. Makes the stress of toyshop meltdowns that bit easier! Ha!

What a legend Joseph is!!!

I went into Smyths Toys yesterday for a new bike for my daughter. We found the one we wanted, then went to find someone about making the purchase to which we found Joseph.
You have the option of building it yourself or having it built, which we did want it built but was a 2-3 day turnaround. Joseph then asked if we could come back in a half hour he would have it done for us! What amazing customer service, what a credit he is to your store. Going that extra mile like that was incredible. Thank you so much, and my daughter was absolutely made up with her new bike. Thank you again.

Misinformation and badly designed website

The website is really bad to use. It offered me a 'choice' of Mario Kart toys, so I chose the one I wanted. I was sent a different one. The person I contacted said it 'wasn't possible to choose' and if I wasn't happy I needed to return the item. However, the website did not recognise my order number, making returning almost impossible. After many emails later, I did manage to get my return label, but misinformation on the website, a confusing system, and a website that does not work means I will not be using Smyths again.

Ordered a pool for my daughter

Ordered a pool for my daughter, it was shipped very quickly and delivery instructions were given to DPD to deliver the parcel to the inside of my porch. The parcel was left outside on the path and apparently this is acceptable by both Smyths Toys and DPD. The parcel was in full view and was subsequently stolen. Proof of delivery shows the parcel is left outside on the path in full view. Smyths refuse to refund or resend. Utterly disgraceful. Customer service is awful. Nobody willing to speak on the phone. Will not use again in the future and would advise anyone I know with kids the exact same. I have very disappointed 5 year old who hasn't got their pool which was bought with their birthday money.

Disappointed with Quality and Water Issues

Purchased the 9ft foldable pool from Smyths Toys and have only had it up for 2 days (26 May 2026), but we’re already needing to patch it. We didn’t notice any obvious holes when setting it up, and the kids have only used it normally — no rough play or anything that should have caused damage.
On top of that, the water turned green incredibly quickly, and today the kids complained of sore eyes and a bitter taste from the water, the sides are made of some sort of thing board and are the cause of the green bitter taste. Over the two days use it has been maintained properly. Really disappointed overall, especially considering how little use it’s had.
Wouldn’t expect a pool to start failing after just a couple of days.

AVOID AVOID THIS STORE Would rate this company a zero if I could. After a rude member of staff took my money and then proceeded to tell me the item was out of stock without checking the stock first was not all apologetic, so I spoke to the manager Lacie who was just as bad and felt it was appropriate to roll her eyes at me after I told them I had used the money to buy a out of stock item which was for my children's present and as it was a card payment I would have to wait for the money to be returned for there mistake, there was no apology just a lack of manners and eye rolling.Disgraceful behaviour unfortunately with so little time a friend sent me the money to buy another trampoline and another member of staff brought the trampoline out shoved it in front of me didn't ask if I would need any assistance and walked away. The rude teenage girl who served me originally then drove past me in the passenger seat of a car and politely in front of my children and grandson gave me a rude gesture which the manager was not bothered and basically looked more bothered because she had to come out of her office. This is the store in Lincoln at Valentines retail Park AVOID

Terrible service dont but from them

My Daughter ordered £99 trampoline on the 18.5.26 for her daughters birthday it stated it would come on or before the 21.5.26 we received half of the trampoline on the 19.5.26 which we thought was the hole thing so you can imagine the granddaughters disappointment and the tears we had to put up with. so my granddaughter birthday as been and gone and were still waiting on the 28.5.26 for this to be delivered and to top it of it as now gone down to £85 daughter as emailed with no reply yet received phoned every number we can find to no avail absolutely disgusted
