Skip the SolarEdge battery
We contacted a local installer to install a home solar array and battery backup. After a bit of research and a recommendation from a friend, I chose to go with the SolarEdge system. I liked that it is one of the few systems that wasn't constantly switching from DC to AC and back again with inverters at the panels, between panels and the backup battery, then from the backup battery back to the house.
Other than our local utility provider's glacial approval process, the install of the system went well. Our installer was knowledgeable and professional.
The 10kWh battery has been a problem from day one. Once it was installed, a software glitch prevented it from being recognized by the system. Our installer, did multiple visits to our house and hours on the phone with SolarEdge to diagnosis and fix the problem. It was determined by SolarEdge that our battery wasn't functioning. That was October 2025. Here we are at March 2026 and we still don't have a replacement or any idea when/if one is coming.
Our installer has copied me on the weekly emails asking for updates on the RMA for a tracking number. SolarEdge's response is something to the effect of, "We will be in touch next week with your tracking number." After 6 months of waiting and already paying for a $41k system + battery, my patience is at an end. Now, comes the "fun" of trying to get a refund for this bricked battery sitting in my basement.
The app so far has worked most of the time. There have been some bugs a few days with reporting but nothing of note. The array works well.
If you are considering SolarEdge, my suggestion is don't get their battery. Everything else is fine.

We had a problem with one of the strings of 17 panels, which refused to pair. Support engineer Theju was extremely helpful. Spent over 3 hours determined to get it working. Today the sun is shining. All the 17 panels are spitting free electricity. Thank you so much Theju.

Avoid this company
Anyone considering solar panels CHECK with your supplier if they are using this company. 16K I spent on panels and battery, 2 years in, on second battery as first one was broken. TERRIBLE customer service, hard to get hold of and slow. If you want to make an expensive mistake, use SolarEdge.

Would not recommend Solar Edge
We installed a SolarEdge system approximately eight months ago and unfortunately it has never functioned properly since installation. Despite multiple service attempts, the system is still not operational.
To date, the backup interface has been replaced three separate times and the inverter has been replaced once. Even after all of these hardware replacements, the batteries have still not been commissioned and the system has never operated as intended.
What has been most disappointing is the lack of direct support from SolarEdge. Despite the ongoing issues and repeated hardware replacements, SolarEdge has not sent a company technician to inspect the system directly. Everything has been handled through the installer, which has made it difficult to resolve what appears to be a deeper system issue.
At this point, the situation has gone beyond inconvenience. My wife no longer feels comfortable having the batteries installed inside our home given the ongoing malfunction and lack of resolution.
After eight months, multiple component replacements, and continued uncertainty about the system’s safety and reliability, we are still waiting for a definitive solution. We hope SolarEdge will take greater ownership of situations like this and send qualified technicians to fully diagnose and resolve persistent system failures.
Until the system is fully operational and properly inspected, it is difficult to recommend this product or the support structure behind it.

Constant issues
Constant issues, unreliable performance — stay away from SolarEdge!
I currently have a 3-phase inverter with backup unit, battery, and car charger from SolarEdge. I’ve had this system for the past two years, and honestly, it’s been a frustrating and exhausting experience from the very beginning.
The system is full of bugs and random failures. Instead of having a reliable solar setup, I’ve spent these two years dealing with error messages, unpredictable behavior, and endless small issues that add up to a big, expensive headache. A product in this price range should work consistently — instead, it often feels like a beta version that was rushed to market.
The installer was a disaster. Most of the time, they were hiding, not replying to messages or calls, and making it extremely hard to get any kind of support or accountability. It’s incredibly frustrating to invest so much money into something and be left completely on your own when problems start showing up. On top of that, most of the time they were clearly uneducated about the products they were installing. In the end, I had to read the installer documentation myself and search for solutions online, just to get basic things working. That should never be the customer’s job.
The mobile app is another weak point. It’s buggy, slow, and often gives incorrect or incomplete data. Sometimes it shows wrong production values, sometimes it doesn’t show anything useful at all. For a system that should help you monitor your energy production, it feels unreliable and unfinished.
The EV charging station is another major disappointment. It simply doesn’t work as advertised. One of its key features is supposed to be the ability to use excess solar energy to charge the car, but this function does not work reliably at all. Even when I explicitly select the option to avoid drawing power from the house battery, the charger still does it. In practice, all the smart features that are supposed to make this charger different from a basic EV charging station just don’t work. What I’m left with is essentially an expensive standard charger that ignores the very settings it is supposed to follow.
Customer support has been just as disappointing. I opened several support cases, and some were either ignored or closed with the claim that I was not responding — which was not true. I always replied and provided the requested information within an hour. It often felt like cases were being closed just to clear the queue rather than solve the problem. What’s even more frustrating is that under negative reviews they claim they contact customers to clarify issues, but no one ever reached out to me.
To be fair, the only thing I actually like about the SolarEdge system are the optimizers. They really do help the panels perform better and maximize production, especially in less than ideal conditions. If only the rest of the system were built with the same quality and reliability, my experience would have been completely different.
Unfortunately, everything else around those optimizers — the inverter, the backup unit, the app, and the installation process — has been a long chain of disappointments.
In short: if you’re considering SolarEdge, my honest advice is don’t. I regret choosing this solution, and I strongly recommend staying away from SolarEdge if you want a reliable, hassle-free solar system.
SolarEdge warranty RMA == long delays
SolarEdge's warranty process really isn't great. System installed September 2020, inverter failed on 6th Feb 2026, I had to raise a support case myself as the installer went into administration a couple of years back and SolarEdge monitoring didn't pick this up automatically. An RMA was raised on the 12th Feb 2026 BUT no progress since. Good luck trying to contact someone as everything goes through their Chatbot OR the WhatsApp UK number +44 7360 261181 where you chat to someone who is really friendly but doesn't have access to logistics, and the only response I'm left with is "Logistics will be in touch soon with a shipping date as your inverter is currently out of stock" which is the answer I've had for over a month now.

I would like to highly praise Mr
I would like to highly praise Mr. Brajan, a technician from SolarEdge. He helped me a lot remotely when I had a problem with the communication between the app and the inverter. Step by step, he explained to me what and where to set, and now everything works perfectly again. Excellent customer approach, quick and very friendly service. I highly recommend them!
Poor performance of the App
The App is good when it works. However, more often than not it does not work properly or is down or gives inaccurate readings. Usually it does not work on most weekends. Gives inconsistent information between page1 and page 2 on the App. This has now been happening for several months and I have made several phone calls to try and rectify the issue. As yet, the issue remains unresolved. Would not recommend.

The solar app does not show correct info
The solar app does not show correct "instant" data lately. (It does, but very occasionally)
There seems to be some serious problem here. Either the backend does not update the DB correctly that provides this data, or there's a communication issue between the app & the server.
The graph is OK, but the top part of the app shows bogus information or at least very-very outdated information (at least half an hour late).
It also does not refresh said information. ( you can tell when it's working; it updates the info every few seconds )
And to add insult to injury:
I could not find a way to send a support email or contact. I'm getting AI blocked, or getting a form that cannot be submitted.
Bravo.
They either consciously planned for support to be impossible to reach or someone is really poor at his job with UI/UX.
Not happy either case.
Edit;
Clearly their response was a marketing / human relations exercise.
To date, no-one has tried to contact me, and their support availability is what it is: a big fat zero.
Luckily, the data has started refreshing correctly, but the support problem is a big worry.

unreliable, installer useless but SolarEdge ok
So this is an update. Turns out I didn't get told about the failure in the monitoring app because the installer didn't enable that option - they were being told it had failed but didn't bother telling me. They also fobbed me off with getting it replaced. Not happy SolarNova.
SolarEdge organised to get the unit replaced as a show of goodwill. Process went smoothly except at the end it couldn't connect to the wifi which took some stuffing around to fix. At the moment it's working but complaining about the external antennas not being installed (which they are).
If you're getting SolarEdge installed make sure you choose a good installer and get them to set it up so you get problem notifications as well as them.

Original
have 2 x 5kW inverters installed 5 years ago. First one died after 4 years, second after 5.
Original installer isn't interested in changing the second one so SolarEdge have told me to sort it out myself with no clear guidelines on who is going to pay.
The monitoring app knew the inverter had failed both times but didn't tell me - I had to notice that solar production was down (which I initially thought was because it was overcast for weeks)

Jahanavi at solar edge support great
Jahanavi at solar edge support was really helpful, got my system up and running and identified the problem with one of my solar panel and a part is being sent. Quick and efficient support!
SolarEdge not customer focused
18.2.26 6 yr old Inverter under warranty fried. Original installer wound up. Transferred system to new installer & engineer spoke to Customer Support.24.2. Replacement inverter sent from Hungary Fedex economy lost/stolen in Germany 27.2.26..provided evidence to SolarEdge but from 6th til 17th March stuck "Inverter pending shipping". Very stressful experience dealing with bots/customer support. Even installer couldn't progress. Took awful review to resolve from 17th March & replacement inverter fitted 1st April. A very expensive experience. Polite staff members at Tier 1 level but no ability to refer problems up the management chain. Case no's 6505824, 6542939. Why do warranty replacements not come from Heathrow warehouse? Why does it take terrible review to get action. Still licking my wounds...
