very high transfer fee
i bought a house with solaredge system installed. had to pay a 100€ fee just to get access to it. not even close be value for what has to be done (prob it just happens automatically a database entry change). not reccommending such a closed greedy system.
2 years in and very dissapointed
We’ve had our solar system, consisting of SolarEdge Battery, Inverter and individual panel optimisers using JA Solar panels, for approximately 28 months.
We’re now experiencing our second battery failure, the original was replaced after 8 months and are now awaiting the third battery to arrive. In addition to the battery failure we’ve been told some of the optimisers have water ingress and the inverter may also need to be replaced.
Due to the warranty small print we’ve had to pay for the system investigation, scaffolding and lost the advertised savings for the last four months while we wait for the issues to be resolved.
When the system works, it’s great, but at this rate of failure and the costs of resolution (even with the hardware being free) the system will never represent a return on investment. Very disappointed.
UPDATE 14/04/2026. Following the above post Nikolay from SolarEdge contacted me and our installer and expedited the replacement of the battery and inverter. As of today the system is working as intended. Whilst I am still disappointed that the failures occurred I’m prepared to chalk them up to bad luck and hope that the system continues to work from now on! The after-sales support offered by SolarEdge in this instance has been excellent and deserves credit.

Great service from Likhith today sorted everything out with no hassle.
Extremely Disappointed
Extremely Disappointed. I invested thousands of dollars to install a solar system through SolarEdge, expecting energy savings and reliable service. Unfortunately, the system has not been working at all.
There is no communication to the monitoring website, no energy is being exported to ComEd, and my ComEd electric bill continues to increase. At the same time, I am paying approximately $500 per month for the solar loan. I am essentially paying double — a solar loan and a full electric bill — with zero benefit.
I have repeatedly attempted to contact SolarEdge for assistance, but there has been no response. The lack of communication and poor customer service is extremely frustrating.
This has been a very costly and stressful experience. I would not recommend this company based on my experience. If I can give a 0 star I should do that. No one should get this company service.

Chatting with Swaroop calmed me down immediately as I been concerned about the system being defunct. There was no BS it was direct and professional all the way. Hats off to Solaredge for employing a most professional person on their team.

We've been having issues with our 10kWh battery since install now but recently it has completely died.
SolarEdge have been claiming a new one will be sent out since January but communication is now non-existent, support is impossible to get through to, and we have been left in the dark on a claim for the most expensive single item in our house!
If it was a TV or washing machine it would be unacceptable but we'd probably end up sucking it up and replacing it. This is £5000 battery that we're being fobbed off on, it's unacceptable.

Second inverter failure, and warranty restrictions
My 3.68kW inverter has failed about 18 months after installation. On the plus side, SolarEdge checked it remotely very promptly, decided it needed replacement and are sending one out under warranty. Another plus: the front line staff are friendly and try to help.
BUT - big but - the terms of the warranty are that I have to pay for the callout and installation costs, which is £450. To put that in context, it's near enough the same as the entire benefit of my PV since it the inverter was installed. If the inverter can't do better than that, there is no payback and investing in PV is a complete waste of money.
This is my second SolarEdge inverter: it was a replacement for another one which also failed. The same terms applied to that, as well - I had to pay the callout and installation charges - but that didn't feel quite so ridiculous as it had lasted about 5½ years in use.
So, helpful staff notwithstanding, I'm not impressed by the reliability or warranty of SolarEdge inverters.
UPDATE 09March: SolarEdge replied (as below) asking for more details. These were given just over a week ago. Zero response. So is their standard request for details just window-dressing rather than a prelude to action?

Solaredge app has a core manual control fault
Solaredge app has a core manual control of battery function. This should allow schedules with 3 charging and 3 discharging periods to be set. This worked for 2 years without failure. For the last 5 months these schedules have had a 20-30% failure rate. This has been reported on the internet as a World-Wide problem. The response from Solaredge has been that it is a known problem and they are working on a solution. It is not a hardware problem, the installer cannot solve the issue. It is not my wi-fi. It is an app communication issue. I have decided to replace the system and take Solaredge to the small claims court.
Full details of this protracted issue are fully detailed on open case 6110498. Solaredge last response said that I was not using the manual charging setting correctly. The reply baffles me as the core manual function SolarEdge documentation states 1. Manual battery control function is supported in UK 2. Schedules should not be overlapped 3. 3 charge and discharge schedules can be set. There are no other restrictions. This worked for 2 years but from 5+ months ago setting the schedule encounters up to 30% failure rate. The recent solution suggested is to change the tariff that I am on to one where Octopus are in control. This to me is an admission that the CORE manual function does not now work. I bought the system that advertised itself as having a manual control function. The app is supplied “Free and as is” the installer cannot solve my problem it is a glitch within the app. Under the Consumer Protection act the product must be as advertised and fit for purpose. The core function of manual battery control is not “fit for purpose”.

I've had my system 10 years and the inverter went out....solaredge was prompt getting me the new inverter and I had to pay a tech to install it BUT....they absolutely make it impossible to get the app up amd going so I can see what's going on. I try to call them but they have it set up to AVOID human interaction. YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT get a human on the phone....GOOGLE does the same. I simply want to use my solaredge app folks.

Deeply deeply regret choosing solar…
Deeply deeply regret choosing solar edge inverter. On paper the optimisers and inverter work well and the payback period and projected production all compare very well. HOWEVER. You need to factor in that the inverter will, not may but will fail in 2 to 4 years. I have had the system since 2019 and have had 2 inverter fails. They will not pay for installation and for not provide the replacement in quick time. Expect at least 4 weeks to get the warranty replacement Inverter and your installer booked to fit it. 4 weeks minimum lost production and YOU pay for the swap out. Solar Edge pretend (policy) the RMA will be dispatched in 48 hrs. Some people are reporting months of delay to get producing again and when an install costs you 300+$ your payback sums go out the window.
The first two inverters were made in China and the latest in Israel. Poor quality components make the ten year warranty a joke and the cost of several replacements inevitable. I am now 7 years in and 3rd inverter. I expect at least one more under warranty and the 25year life expectancy of the system to need a new inverter for the last 15 years. I will replace with a Fronius or SMA but NEVER Solar edge, ever again. DISGUSTED.
edit following the reply from solar edge.
they state they have requested further information but have not requested any from me. This is classic diversion tactic when faced with a poor review. pretending to be interested and doing nothing about it. this is exactly what you can expect from this company.
2nd edit.
Solar edge appear to have some trick to avoid addressing this complaint. They keep posting they are concerned and seek further information. When I attempt to respond it states I have missed the 2 day deadline. These Customer Service tricks do not alter my very low opinion of the company, their service and their equipment. Id Solar Edge genuinely wants to recover their increasingly poor reputation they need to listen to the customer, not just finds ways to avoid the real issues.
3rd edit
The solar edge reply is incorrect. My email is registered with trust pilot so their statement that they cannot contact me is not true.
Solar Edge use every trick they can to avoid dealing with issues.
Edit 4. Noone in their rght mind is going to put their contact details in open forum.
This issue is the subject of a support case [CASE:6486007] in which I learn you refuse to pay for the installation of a RMA unit and the costs involved due to, in my case, 2 replacentd in 6 years plus the time it takes to get an RMA in place and the lost production income and the lost electricity savings are all valid comments on your company's policies.
My review is explaining to consumers exactly how poorly they will be served by choosing a Solar Edge inverter irrespective the projected system economics and payback period.
You could respond in open forum confirming the veracity of my review and admit to potential customers they can expect A. At least 3 failures in the lifetime on the system, and probably within the 12 yr warranty period. And B. They can expect considerable delays in obtaining an RMA unit and can expect to be considerably out of pocket as a consequence.
My review stands as a valid experience and any research into the experiences of others confirms this is not an isolated incident.
If I could give -ve stars I'd give -5
Now how about address the issues publicly?
Edit 5
I can report Solar Edge have re-engaged very positively with me,concerning these issues, and have proposed some valuable support proposals. Once these have been implemented I will review accordingly.

excellent
The staff interacting with me was always helpful. The problem needed to be addressed by back office people. My impression is that may case was not classified as top-priority. It took several weeks to get the problem fixed.
Again, the staff interacting with me was always excellent - thanks especially to Boyan Penev
Had a solar edge inverter put on 2018
Had a solar edge inverter put on 2018. About 3 weeks ago we had trouble with no solar being produced. Found out from solar Hub that it was the inverter which solar edge said they would replace under warranty. Told about 2 weeks ago that it was in the warehouse house waiting for a tracking number. Rang Solar Hub to see what is happening and even they can’t seem to get any answers. Have emailed Solar Edges customer service and other areas with not even a reply. No phone number that is any good to get anywhere. Not able to talk to a person. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. We paid more for our solar system because of the service and warranty and now when we need them no response. We are pensioners and instead of not costing us at this time of the year with our solar panels to be able to put the air conditioner it is costing us out of our pocket. When the inverter finally arrives we then have to wait for a technician to reinstall it.

Happy camper. I purchased my solar system in July of…
I purchased my solar system in July of 2023 after a review of local installers. Seams like most wanted nothing to do with the system after the installation. The installer I chose said he would service the system after the sale that’s why I chose him I believe that is as important as the quality of the hardware that happens to be solar edge. There were a couple of software issues within a couple weeks I didn’t even know about as the installer monitored the system from his office where he received alerts when something wasn’t right. Solar edge has been the perfect choice for me because the controls and inverters squeeze every watt out of my snow covered panels in the winter. Everything has been preforming flawlessly sense the install what a blessing the right contractor makes. They even stock all parts used in their systems so if there is an issue it’s resolved quickly.
Happy camper
