My experience of Mark from Solid Rock

I hired Solid Rock IT UK to clean my elderly relative's computer after they fell victim to a scam. Mark quoted £150 per hour. The work took four hours, bringing the total to £600, more than the replacement value of the computer being cleaned. No invoice was offered when the work was complete and payment was requested to a personal bank account. When I asked for an invoice, VAT was added, bringing the total to £720. When I queried this, the VAT was removed. I was then asked to make payment to an entirely different company called Marcomz Networks Ltd. As Mark left, he text me, asking me to leave a review, with the specific instruction not to mention any names, and to use terms like "the engineer," "the company," or "the team." Mark was the only person I dealt with throughout, though the company's website and all communications use plural language. I requested a job report with a time log to understand what had been done. Mark's initial response was: "There will not be a breakdown of time taken as this wasn't part of your initial requirement… Next time, it's best that you request this from the outset so activities can be tracked and timed appropriately." After repeating the request, a report was sent. The company's liability terms, which disclaim responsibility for data loss or hardware damage, were never shared at the point of booking. I only found them via a small link at the bottom of that report. Reply to Mark: Thank you for your response. To clarify, I was not the direct client; the service was carried out for a relative, which explains why I may not appear in your records.
It does not make my account inaccurate. You say this is "not completely true", I'd welcome you pointing out specifically what isn't, as I have photographic evidence to support every point I have raised. I'll leave the readers to draw their own conclusions from your response.

Email and contacts support

I needed support moving my local email client from a POP to an IMAP account. Also, I wanted to understand how to export contacts and diary. The team responded to my request almost immediately and the work was both done well, as well as helping me learn how to do some of the work in future. The support staff was expert, friendly and helpful. I'd recommend Solid Rock IT to anyone.

Excellent service …

Excellent service from the engineer who recovered my laptop and also sorted out e few issues with my desktop. Reasonable price and whole job completed within a week of my first call.

Great Computer Services!

Great Computer Services! Very thick walls in our house with two home working offices had made it seem impossible to get decent Wi-Fi in much of it. Installation of an extra router caused a new problem I couldn't solve. A local company came to 'fix it' at a seemingly competitive rate. But it was a 'programming problem' which the chap they sent couldn't do. Solid Rock's highly pro-active and personable professional not only solved the initial problem but set up a new system that provides 70 Mb/s of Wi-Fi throughout the house. Solid Rock may not be the cheapest but they are the most cost effective and best that I could find.

Calm, thorough and helpful

The engineer was calm, friendly, thorough and patient from first contact. It's a great gift to not make a non-computer expert not feel like an idiot! After isolating the issue (a dodgy MS update), he then did a thorough MOT on my laptop, and offered advice that was clear and simple about improvements I can make. It is my second time asking Solid Rock to help. My partner has also used them. Highly recommended!

First Class Apple Support

I was really stumped trying to set something up with all my Apple gear. I reached out to Solid Rock IT and within 24 hours Mark had responded to me and solved the problem. He work at the right pace for me and answered questions along the way.

I’m so glad I bit the bullet and looked for help, I would have driven myself over the edge and probably stamped on my laptop. Would reach out again if I need to and would recommend. Thank you Mark!

My 8 unit NAS unit crashed

My 8 unit NAS unit crashed, went offline & was undiscoverable. I was really lucky to find an engineer from Solid Rick IT UK. He was onsite quickly and knew my Mac setup ... I'm up and running again, no data loss.

Solid Rock IT were engaged for an installation of a new HP Omnibook X Flip 16" Next Gen AI Laptop -AMD Ryzen™ AI 7, 16GB, Touchscreen

Solid Rock IT were engaged for an installation from our old laptop to the new laptop. Mark was highly knowledeable and took time to explain pertinent issues to us, and importantly, how to gain the best performance from our new laptop going forward.
Mark was punctual and professional throughout and we will be using his services in the future. Recommended.

I had already researched my problems…

I had already researched my problems with music streamer and TV. I explained the issues and the engineer came up with the solution I was expecting. He installed a new WIFI 7 system which solved the problem.

He set up the mesh system in a much better way than I could. Resulting in a more stable system.

A few days later I found that my note of the router password was wrong. He was very helpful and patient helping me to reset the password over the phone.

Highly recommended

Brilliant IT help at home.

Solid Rock IT UK were brilliant at helping us through it a domestic laptop crisis after liquid damage. The engineer came the same day, managed to retrieve all my data, and then set up a new laptop. All done very efficiently and intelligently.

The engineer is a great guy and a consumate professional. He responded immediately, and did the job on site. Thanks to the engineer my MacBook is alive again. I could not be more pleased. Highly recommended, and would use again.

Great service

I Iiked the IT guy who came help us a lot.
He was on time, quickly identified the problem and did all that was required to sort it out, plus doing extra enhancements. My old Apple wasn't as rotten as I thought. Just needed a big service and upgrades !
I am very happy with it now.

I was really impressed by Solid Rock…

I was really impressed by Solid Rock from start to finish. Responsive, clear communication throughout, and incredibly helpful. I was happy to read the many five star reviews online - the engineer didn't disappoint. I would highly recommend this company for your Mac repair needs and anything else offered on their website.

Absolutely perfect experience

Absolutely perfect experience. The engineer fixed my entire wifi network by installing meshes all over my property. The engineer was really polite, efficient and patient. Complete life-saver because our network was down for a few weeks and some internet providers are not great with customer service and call outs. But Solid Rock saved the day! A prime service.
