For several years, my wife and I have been loyal customers of Southern Ukulele Store. Whether we stop by the shop, order online, or call them, the service is consistently top-notch. Their five-star support never fails to impress. Truly a business you can rely on.

I visited the store today (30/12/25) after researching the potential purchase of my first Ukelele. I had checked out these guys on the web site and on YouTube and decided to make the journey to Bournemouth.
On arrival I was welcomed by Romeo, who took the time to listen to my questions and guided me through the minefield that is the multitude of Ukuleles that they have in stock. After looking at and having a good hands on feel of several different ones, I opted for a Kala KA-SDH-T salt and pepper, Dog hair tenor, a beautiful looking instrument, that just seemed to fit me perfectly.
Now my journey of learning and playing has begun, I'm so excited 😊.

I purchased my third Ukulele from The Southern Ukulele Store yesterday, This time it was a Flight Aviator Baritone, what a lovely instrument and sounds great and plays well,.

Started learning Ukulele on my step daughters charity shop instrument last week and decided that I actually really enjoyed it so thought I would treat myself to a “real” one. I Bought my first Ukulele (used) and it arrived very quickly and was in excellent condition. Very pleased with the service and deff recommend. Will use again if I ever learn enough to warrant a better Uke.

We visited the store having travelled from Essex for a road trip to Bournemouth . I wanted to buy a solid body uke and bought a lovely Kala prototype . The staff were very welcoming and helpful. When I had a small problem with strings and the peg after getting home , these were sorted out free of charge

Ordered without trying as the pan pacific kalas were flying out of the door. Id intended to travel in to visit SUS.
They made the process easy and said I could return if not happy. Received the ukelele v well packed and quickly. The ukekele is lovely and well set up so happy with it. Only disappointed because I had ordered a deluxe f8d no 29 and was sent the standard no. 29 in error and of course it haf already gone to someone else. Still a little sad when I see a photo of a delux. Refunded the difference in price but the deluxe price was a no brainer. Still I love my new kala f8.

Recently I purchased ( or acquired as I like to say) my third Ukulele from the Southern Ukulele Store in Bournemouth. I could not be happier. Alex and the team are top notch when it comes to customer service and helping you find the best ukulele that works for you. This most recent purchase came a bit with a leap of faith, as I asked Alex which he would prefer since I could not make the trip across the pond to play it myself. I walked into the Southern Ukulele Store and was greated by three absolute studs! The atmosphere is pungent with sexual chemistry. Oh and they have great ukuleles too.

I purchased a Kala 20th Anniversary Koa Baritone on 16th October 2025 and asked for it to be dispatched on 21st October, the instrument was sent on the correct date with a strap button installed as requested. After making a small change due to personal preference I was able to play the instrument straight out of the box. The set up was excellent and made it very easy to play and quite simply exemplified why buying from a reputable dealer is a much better experience.

I can’t fault SUS and heartily recommend them to anyone looking for an instrument well prepared and presented.

First rate across the board.

I recently purchased a Flight Carabao Lite Baritone, Mango.

I received prompt proper replies to every question I asked, and there were a few.

The uke was delivered incredibly fast! Three days from the store to the West Coast of Canada! Wow.

I had a couple of post purchase concerns, which were dealt with by Alex, quickly and professionally.

I'm very happy with the uke, and especially the service!

All in all, a very good experience.

Not just a great selectio

I've just received a Kala 20th Anniversary Deluxe Koa soprano ukelele from SUS. The uke was promptly posted, well and securely packaged and, when it arrived, extremely well set up.

Service and communication was impeccable and SUS deserves its reputation as one of the best ukulele stores in the world.

Went in to buy a tenor ukulele after haunting the website and the reviews for ages. Nothing compares to trying in person though. Magnificent range to choose from, great guidance to stay within price range and even a blind hearing test on other ukes. But otherwise I was allowed to just sit and try my way through every ukulele I wanted without feeling overheard or pressured for time.

What is really outstanding to me though is their dedication to good set up. Making sure the frets are even, the bridge grooves are not too large and that the strings match the body resonance mean I think I'm a much better player now as rattles buzzes and hums are almost eliminated and barre chords sound better.

Came away with two kala nightowl revelator tenors not one as they were so wonderful.

As an addict of the differing sounds of ukulele, Southern is my go to store with the various reviews and sound sessions by Alex making it a comprehensive service - and the back up from Romeo when you ring - it's IMO unbeatable - god knows what it will cost me when I finally get to visit 🫣.
