I have used Spa Cycles for years and have always recommended them - until this happened. Recently I placed a few items for my touring bicycle in my online basket but needed advice on another item before I could place my order. I telephoned Spa Cycles for advice and have to say I have never been spoken to in such an appalling manner. I won’t mention names but the guy was obviously busy and stressed when he answered the phone and practically proceeded to shout at me as though I was wasting his time - he then hung up the phone.
I will not be using Spa Cycles again.

They seem to have a good selection of products and have been very helpful and friendly when emailed and called. However I have found their response times exceedingly slow.
The first time I'd used them and my first order was made Thursday lunchtime. It was not dispatched until the following Monday evening! This latter order I called first to check stock, mentioning my need for fast delivery. They suggested mentioning on the order notes which I did. That was the Monday. I rang again on the Tues morning. The item was finally dispatched Tuesday evening.
Because of this they won't be my first point of call when buying online again.

Left an enquiry on the Web page and the next day I was telephoned with the information I asked for. First class service again from Spa.

Ordered their own brand nidd saddle for £58,the frame snapped I was told I could send it back and wait 9 months for it to be repaired.buy a brooks from someone else.

I will definitely not buy anything from this company again. I ordered a cassette on the 5th May and selected “next working day delivery” for £5 extra. Next day – nothing arrived. I emailed saying I had paid for next working day delivery and John acknowledged this saying he had removed the charge. However, on that same day (7th May) my account showed the amount, including the £5 for next working day delivery taken, despite me being told the £5 would not be charged. Since then and a number of emails, neither John, or anyone else from this organisation has contacted me or refunded my £5. Clearly the man is dishonest and if he will swindle you out of a fiver for a service not provided, what other dishonesty is he capable of ? I for one don't intend finding out and I will tell everyone I know, not to bother either.

Ordered a Shimano 9 speed cassette on 5th May, which arrived by first class post on the 8th May. Cassette as ordered and service comparable to other reliable parts suppliers.

Sent emails regarding Cancelation of my order twice and still no reply. So the item arrived but Poor customer service & won’t hold my breath for the refund on the returned item .
Waste of the postage & return fees which could have been avoided !

Ordered brakes and came without the noodle. Contacted spacycle and they said it's not included. Showed on picture and description when purchased. They have subsequently added a one-liner to their site saying it's not included. Cached their webpage and was clearly added after I made contact. Screenshot any orders as very disingenuous company. They now won't answer my emails. Don't want to call as they apparently shout and swear at you down the phone. Steer clear.

ABYSMAL...having rang up to ask about a problem with a cassette they sent me, first time the phone was put down on me as I started to speak, I rang back and was met by a totally disinterested, rude, arrogant man called John who told me basically he was too busy and then put the phone down......I WOULD NEVER recommend or use this company again...........they are a disgrace and they do not even deserve the one star

Called to enquire about purchasing a Surly, which they usually stock. After saying hello I was greeted with “yep, hurry up I’m busy” response. When asked about stock was told “it’ll be in when it’s in”. The man that answered the phone was very rude and I hung up. Would not recommend this shop based on this first impression.

The carriage price is extreme

I know this is coming from Yorkshire but this should not be this much

I have not received any dispatch information and yes it does say orders made before 28th of February are not 100% to be delivered before Easter

Bought a custom built bike for £2000 through their online shop. When it arrived one of the gears jammed because they had fitted components that exceeded the derailleurs tooth capacity :
(largest cog – smallest cog) ＋ (largest chainring – smallest chainring) = Required capacity

Failed to take any responsibility for the error. Refused to send me a smaller rear cassette (which I could have fitted) to correct it. Arrogant with no interest in helping. Just told me not to choose that gear when out riding or said I could send it back if I paid over £300 in restocking fees. I'd have been embarrassed if I'd done that to a customer and would have felt obliged to and want to help.

I will now have to pay out of my pocket to fix their mistake or pursue a Section 75 claim with my card company.

Really annoyed with this company. Seen a frame online and asked about the import tax to Germany and they said they wouldn't deliver. Fair enough, so I spend 4 hours trying to find an address to get the frame sent to in the uk and after finding a solution and also being in contact with them they actually put the price up 100 euros on the website. Absolutely disgusting!

I bought pedals. Good price, consistent communication, and quick delivery. Can't ask for much more, really.

Great service yet again ordered parts delivered next day as usual just brilliant have been so pleased with my titanium bike from them

There are people in shops that sell bicycles and there are bicycle people in shops that sell bicycles.

Spa Cycles are the latter, knowledgeable, experienced, customer focused with no sales pressure. Understanding of customer changes of mind and wholly patient.
I purchased via mail order and the bike was sent set up to the dimensions I had from a recent pro bike fit, spot on set up, an excellent product.
I had a small problem post-sale (not their fault at all) and I was offered friendly advice and a solution which worked a treat.
I have since purchased additional kit from them due to the good service I received.
I am very surprised at the other reviews I have read here, I had none of the experiences of those purchasers.
I will never buy another bicycle from anyone else.

Received a Brooks Saddle not in its original packaging and with missing parts.
When complaining, I was offered to return it at my fees.

Very poor service, avoid if you can.

Excellent service. They have been helpful with advice and their mail order service has been fast and efficient. Over the years, I've bought a bike, wheels and various components. Recommended.

I have been in contact with someone called John, at spa cycles. I had asked him about buying a frame through the cycle scheme. I had an absolute torrent of abuse thrown at me down the phone, swearing on about 12% that he gets charged to do it. The man is an absolute disgrace. Wouldn't even listen when I told him the hospital I work at isn't the same as the national cycle scheme, just kept on swearing about it. Absolutely shameful. Avoid at all costs.

I bought a Lindstrands suit from Spa a couple of years ago and I wore it in heavy rain just after lockdown but it leaked. (First time in heavy rain, strangely). Lockdown took it past the warranty period but as their slogan is "If it works in Scandinavia it'll work anywhere" I returned the suit to Nick at Spa and he took it up with Halvaarsons/ Lindstrands, who, apparently, have now been taken over by Duell Bike Centre Oy (another Scandinavian firm). He had to fight for me but it turned out that there was a fault with the suit and lo & behold a brand new Lindstrands suit turned up at Spa. So mega thanks to Nick and also to Richie and John at Duell as they didn't really have to replace another firm's technically out of warranty suit.
Postscript: I stood under a hose in the garden with the suit on yesterday and --- it didn't leak at all. (and yes, the hose was on!!). Lindstrands really are good.
Very happy (and dry) biker.
