Had a test at Specsavers Dundrum. Told prescription would be ready in max 10 days. This seemed long enough already. On tenth day I had to call. Was told by staff they would look into delay. 3 hours later got a call to say glasses would not be ready for another 3 days. That will be 2 weeks since test. I understand delays can happen but got the impression I was only being let know because I had called and two weeks is too long for an expensive service

Eyre Sq, Galway Branch. Absolutely without doubt the Staff, have to mention 2 outstanding personnel, both Stacey & Paul. I've been in for both myself & my Dad (who's nearly 90!) in the past few weeks & these people go above & beyond in terms of excellent customer service. I had a few issues with my new glasses & it's when you go back with a problem to a store & are treated so well, that's where your excellent staff get 110%!
In fairness all staff in Eyre Sq branch are excellent, both friendly & efficient. Can't speak highly enough of Specsavers ⭐️

Was in the tallaght branch today and Vlatka is super helpful . She patiently helped me choose frames. Measured eyes for varifocals and remembered I needed a certain type of varifocal from the last time I was there . She nails it every time .. 10/10 she’s been there for years and certainly knows her job .

I had a very mixed experience with Specsavers. The optometrist was absolutely excellent – professional, thorough, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the experience completely fell apart once I got to the sales staff.
From the first moment, it felt like I was being pushed to spend as much money as possible. I was told I “needed” varifocal lenses even though this was my first pair of glasses and I only require them for reading. There was also a strong push toward their 2-for-1 promotion, which would have cost me nearly €400. I simply don’t understand why I would need two expensive pairs of glasses when I only need basic reading glasses.
What made it worse is that no one mentioned that, as a medical card holder, I am entitled to free glasses and a covered eye test. I was actually charged for the eye test as well.
I decided to go elsewhere for a second opinion, and the difference was shocking. I received the correct prescription and two pairs of glasses completely free, exactly as medical card holders are entitled to.
The optometrist at Specsavers deserves credit, but the sales tactics left a very bad impression. It felt less like healthcare and more like being pressured into unnecessary purchases. I would strongly recommend that medical card holders double-check their entitlements and consider other providers before committing.

Spoke with James in Arklow. Extremely polite and helpful. More companies should train staff on phone etiquette instead of AI.

Appalling customer service! I went to collect a pair of glasses that I wanted replacement lenses for. They weren’t a new prescription so I was very certain that the replacement didn’t feel right. I tried to communicate that politely only to be faced with passive aggression. I didn’t pay over €200 for that kind of service. I was asked to ‘give it a very good go’ for the next week. It’s pretty much impossible when the lenses aren’t correctly aligned to my pupils. I totally get that new prescriptions take a bit of getting used to but that wasn’t the case here. Please educate your staff to be more polite and to listen to customer concerns.

Today was my second occasion to visit Specsavers Maynooth. I was fortunate to be served by the same assistant ( Lauren) on both occasions. She is an advert for friendly, efficient , attentive and professional service . Thank you,
Michael.

Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. When I arrived I was greeted in a friendly manner and didn't have to wait around for the appointment. The Optician was professional and knowledgeable. It's a convenient location with good parking and other shops close by.

Had my eye test and discussed using my old glasses and changing my lenses. Nobody told me there was a risk my glasses might break when putting in the new lenses and that is what happened. Subsequently I wasn't offered a replacement and when I got upset the technician rolled her eyes and lacked any kind of empathy. She didn't even offer me a pair of contacts to be able to drive home! She then told me I had an outstanding bill of €70 that I owed to specsavers, that I hadn't paid. This was in front of staff and customers. She claimed I hadn't paid the full amount the last time I had been in the shop, when I had definitely paid the full amount! After weeks of back and forth with specsavers midleton, they finally sent out a pair of glasses to me in the post. This was the least that could have been done after the embarrassment it caused me,imagine being accused of not paying your bill in front of everyone. And the lack of empathy and accountability for their actions was horrible. Imagine not caring and leaving a customer drive home without their glasses! If you want service that reflects the cheap price go to specsavers. If you actually want to feel like people care and look after your health use a local opticians.

Had a great experience booking my appointment over the phone, Maria led me through everything, explained my options, and went through all I need to know. I called at 5pm on a Sunday and got an appt for 9am the next day. Great customer service!

Was in the Bray branch with my elderly mother as she was thinking of choosing some near glasses, watched as a worker blatantly bullied and shamed a young girl very loudly in front of the entire shop. The girl was trying to book a medical card appointment when the worker did their usual upselling of ‘you should get this scan’ but instead she said ‘you have to get this extra scan’ the girl paused and said that the physical exam will be sufficient, the worker instead of stopping here like a decent person says very loudly ‘it’s only €25’, the girl quietly says she can’t afford it right now and the worker to my shock and the woman next to me even louder says ‘why can’t you afford it, it’s only €25’?!? The girl to be fair to her held to her guns and said no I don’t want it I’m not getting it to which the worker again says ‘you can afford €25, everyone can afford it, it’s only €25’?! Like firstly it’s absolutely not the business of specsavers workers whether someone can afford €25 and secondly the gall to act this way in your place of work very loudly in front of customers?! Even my mum heard and she’s nearly deaf. I was so appalled I took my mother and left to give our custom elsewhere. What a disgrace
Edit to reply to Specsavers below, I do not have any social media, the fact that you do your customer service via that rather than email is astonishing

I had my regular eye exam appointment on March 1, 2026 in Liffey Valley shop, and I received my two pairs of glasses on March 7, 2026. Excellent doctors, excellent support staff. Well-mannered and very kind assistants. I would like to especially mention Robina and Ashraf. Very positive and helpful guys.

Been in cork city branch recently , staff are great and very helpful for the very few that they have left and despite the language barrier at least I thought it was a barrier until someone else explained the new system to me it was just as confusing and dreadful , it's all hidden charges and fees now (no you are not getting your free eye test you still have to pay for it ) and a medical card is useless you'll still end up paying a fortune compared to how it used to be, I get a business needs to make money but it's absolutely terrible what Specsavers have done , what cost only 130 euro for my last visit and prescription glasses the same ones and set up are now over 250 euro , the quality of glasses has gone so downhill it's like temu for glasses , everything is cheap plastic frames like you could buy in a discount shop with a selection of about 4 or 5 metal frames to which only 1 fit (the same as current glasses) now the selection they feel like kids glasses and all plastic ones which does not last , there's no room for wear and tear and they're broken within a few days or weeks as I've had them in the past , glasses don't even have nose pieces anymore they're just bridged which means they're either falling off your face and breaking off the floor or fogging up if you are too warm , you're better off going to an independent or local optician getting better quality glasses at lower prices, Specsavers has taken a deep dive as it does not offer you affordable quality anymore
