I bought two pairs of glasses in Specsavers in Dundalk. The sunglasses the sales woman recommended are Salice 838RW Blue mirror which I purchased. Unfortunately the lenses got scratched and now after several visits to the shop and dealing with different sales people they said they cannot supply the lenses. The lenses clip on. It's a disgrace that Specsavers sell a product and cannot supply spare lenses. The sales staff do not seem to know much about the glasses they are selling.

I initially got 2 pairs of reading glasses, the lens kept falling out from day one. I bought them back, the member of staff just tighten the screw, the lens fell out again..I asked what they could do to fix them, the staff member just shrugged her shoulders. Extremely unprofessional. 2 weeks later my husband ordered 2 more pairs ( against my wishes) using nasty plastic frames. When my husband went in to collect them, the staff member was very snappy and demanding to know if they had texted him. He told them no, he had phoned them. The staff quality, and the quality of the glasses/ lens has fallen hugely over the past few years. Specsavers inn Waterford... AVOID!

My parents were each charged €25 for an OCT scan in the Castlebar store. The issue is that the staff members didn’t explain what the OCT was, and that there was a fee. It states on the website it is optional, however, they were never given the option. I noticed the charge on their receipts and they told me they didn’t ask for a scan, nor were they told that a scan was being performed. When they complained, a staff member said the sight test is €55. It clearly states on the Specsavers website that a standard sight test is up to €30 and that the OCT is an additional scan that can be booked for an extra fee. This is extremely underhand and despicable, bearing in mind that they are charging people money without advising them that it is optional and that it is an additional charge on top of the sight test. They got their money back but please be aware of this underhand sales tactic.

It's become apparent that all Specsavers are not the same. I could not believe how rude and dismissive the staff were to concerns about their service. I will never return and would advise people to use another branch or a different provider. From reading other reviews, which I wish I had in advance, it seems I'm not alone in this opinion. I recommend a review of staffing and enhanced customer training, you should be trying to build a customer base, not trying to extract as much money as you can from each person.

Had an appointment for a hearing test with the Clonmel branch. Kept waiting nearly 30 minutes. The test was carried out on a machine with tangled wires and really appeared pretty outdated compared with the audio booth. selected an aid and made an appointment for the following Saturday. When I rang to cancel I was told there was no such booking. I have had a poor experience with this firm in connection with glasses with inferior lenses and fitting, giving me headaches, subsequently correct by an excellent specialist in Dublin in the past.

All three of us in my family visited Specsavers at Mahon Point Cork City. From entering the premises,to having our eye tests and then selecting our frames to go with our designated lenses. The whole experience was completed in a professional and well managed manner. As a long time specsavers customer, I compliment the staff at Mahon Point for their treatment of myself and my family on the day. Would highly recommend the branch to anyone who is thinking of getting specs in the future. Also the aftercare I received on a subsequent visit was beyond compare in these days of hurried and quick service in retail premises in 2025. Customer Centered Service always is appreciated.

Well i get my glasses about 8 months ago with best lenses they offered with extra protection ,,anti scratch surface,,.
Basically from normal cleaning day to day with wet clothes specially purchase to clean this lens scratches start to be more and more visible from inside of the lens . Outside are fine.
Even at the bottom of lenses apper a big circle of scratches with rainbow colors on it.
I went in to Finglass store to ask what we can do about this and why this is happend if I don't use dand paper to clean my glass .
I whose told I clean them wrong way no warranty on lens they plastic and nothing can be done except replacement on another 305e plus service.
Well definitely bad replay as I didn't go to argue with them just looking for some advice and why this happen to expensive lens what in my opinion they should be much better quality .
Any way get out from shop with felling it's all my fault and nothing can be done just purchase new lens . Then after fiev month probably same thing happen again .
I will go to local optician now and see if there is better service and better quality lens as this one looks like they are expensive crap

I went to collect glasses after being advised they were ready, travelled 70km round trip, when got to store, i was informed glasses were not ready, I wasn't home 60 mins, got text to say they ready. I phoned asking why I was told they ready and weren't when I got to the shop.. asked them to post them out, was advised I would have to pay €10, I refused to paid as I had already been to store, they refused to post them without payment and assistant was very rude on the phone... I would not recommend them to anyone and won't be a returning customer

Tracy in Specsavers, Castle West Shopping Centre, Ballincollig, Cork was absolutely amazing! Super Smart and super helpful! A very chatty, outgoing and down to earth person. Specsavers are so lucky to have her!

It is three months since I collected my glasses. Over that period the screws have become loose leading to the lenses coming out. Each time I put them back in and tightened the screws however this has lead to damage to the screw heads. One lens is continuously moving around in the frame. I went for the dearer frames this time round in the hope of avoiding this problem because I had experienced the same when I got the cheaper frames at Specsavers previously. Unfortunately the problem persists. Loose screws and lenses popping out don't discriminate between cheap or dear frames. It is a pity because the in-store service was very good. Off putting really. (In response to the reply from Specsavers I don't have an online presence on Facebook, X or Instagram. I will look at alternative optician options next time around. It is good to shop around).
It just struck me that some people reading this review may wonder what the difference is between the dearer frames and various add ons and the cheaper options. After some discounts etc were taken into consideration I paid just under €500, which included Tailor-made varifocal lenses. Paying that also qualified me for a golden ticket which would be useful if I wanted another pair of glasses at a later date within six months. I did also get a pair of prescription sunglasses for that price. Tommy Hilfiger, and there was no problem with them at all. The sunglasses are exceptional.

i attended for my appointment the optician was very nice and extremely thorough, the staff are very nice my only issue is with the product, when i went to collect my glasses, the lense of the sunglasses were broken so i couldnt take them with me as they had to be re ordered,i took home 2 pairs one for reading and one for distance, that evening i checked my distance glasses and there was a chip in the lense so i had to go back again the next day, the man i dealt with was very nice and re ordered them again.
I spent over €300 euros on glasses and im still waiting a week later for my order to be completed, so now im using my old glasses which have a different lense strength and the new reading glasses which are totally different, so my eyes are constantly trying to re adjust when i change them over which carnt be good for your eyes.

Got my eyes tested today in an independent opticians and prescription was same as Specsavers the previous year. When the glasses that Specsavers were checked it was discovered that the right lense was not matching the prescription by a large amount. So happy now that I have moved opticians. Avoid Specsavers, ignore the big advertisements

UPDATE Thursday 24.04
1 Glassess collected on 19.04, 2nd pair of glasses ready today - Thursday 24.04 Almost a Month since my visit.
Specsaver - no need for me to DM you, you simply cannot look after your customers. If you are overwhelmed with the workload, hire more staff and definitely improve communication as no apologies were sent from your store to apologies for 2 weeks delay!
Glasses were due on the 12th of April, to date no sign of them and no update from Specsavers.
Communication appalling. Rang them Thursday to see would they have my glasses on Saturday the 12th as wanted to book my daughter for an eye test. I was told they don't know and there is plenty of free appointments if needed. Saturday the 12th, rang them at lunch. I was told that if glasses arrived they will text me. Of course no text, no glasses. Monday 14th still no glasses and no updates from them, not even mention apologies. There is plenty of local opticians that would be greatfull for your service as these people obviously aren't. Avoid, and support your local business.
With these guys you will pay 100s€ for your glasses and you will be left waiting for weeks.

My wife broke the frame of her glasses. She went to specsavers portlaoise to see if they had the same frame in stock and transfer the glass from the old frame into the new frame. The first person told her that they had them in stock but it would be a week before they could get them. A second person then told her that they had no records of her and that they did not give her the glasses that she had with her. Then a third person came to see what the problem was. He went and checked the records and verified that they had supplied the glasses and was able to sort out the problem and transfer the lenses into a new frame.

avoid if at all possible, from the moment i walked in the door I was being coerced to purchase additional products and services. everything was an Extra. Go and support a local optician

Useless Company ,They should tell you before you spend your money, that you will have to wait 2 WEEKS before your glasses are ready.... if i had of known that before i spent €100s i would have went elsewhere😡😡😡😡😡, i wouldnt even give 1star..... DO NOT BUY HERE, There are much better opticians out there where you can get your glasses a day or 2 later...
