Rented a 6M work platform I have no way…

Rented a 6M work platform I have no way to pick up so I paid for delivery when finished phoned up for them to collect it to find out I have to pay for them to collect as well I was furious nobody had explained this as would have looked elsewhere

Equipment was in well maintained…

Equipment was in well maintained condition. Delivery drivers both very helpful.

Despite delivery being late afternoon on day 1 and equipment being off hired 1st thing on day 8, eight whole days hire was charged.

Delivery / collection charges expensive £25 each way despite depot being 4 miles from site

We are happy to hear the equipment was in order and our delivery drivers were helpful. However, it is disappointing to hear you were not fully satisfied due to being charged for a full day hire despite the kit being delivered late and also, the transport costs.

I can confirm the matter will be investigated with the relevant parties.

In terms of transport costs, unfortunately we do have standard charges despite the distance and for access equipment that charge is £25. Collection charges will always match the delivery cost which I understand you find this expensive. I will use this as feedback to the relevant department.

Poor experience

Poor experience. Delivered a broken wacker plate, then replaced it with one without fuel. Still tried to charge me for the missing fuel. They even took money out of my deposit for the collection even though I had chosen this on the website which they then denied.
Hiding charges from customers is the reason for my compliant. The additional charge was not clear otherwise I would have paid it rather than trying to lift heavy machinery into the boot of a car.

I have had 2 missed calls that I was unable to pick up as I was in meetings at work. I assume that is what you call a resolution or your branch has misled you.

I can confirm that all collection charges will always match the delivery fee regardless. The charge will not be listed when you order (in case you wished to return to the Depot for free) but there is a notification to advise all customers of this on the checkout page.

Let down by Speedyhire Heathrow

I recently hired a ladder from the Heathrow branch of Speedy Hire, due to collect it on Thursday, 21st November. On 17th November, I emailed the branch to ask if it would be possible to extend the hire and collect the ladder on 20th November instead. I received a response from "Gary" confirming this was fine.

Based on this confirmation, I arranged for a crew to start work at a nearby hotel at 6pm on the 20th. The ladder was essential for rigging at a charity ball, an event I volunteer as an AV lead for.

I arrived at the depot at 4pm on the 20th after driving down from Glasgow, only to be informed that the ladder had been seen in the warehouse but was hired out to someone else. There was no suitable alternative available. I was told Acton had one in stock, and they could send a driver to collect it. I explained that the crew was scheduled to begin at 6pm, and without the ladder, no work could take place. I also asked if it could be delivered to the venue directly to save time. I left believing this was understood and that Speedy would resolve the issue promptly.

By 8pm, the ladder still hadn’t arrived. I tried phoning the branch repeatedly between 8pm and 9pm, but nobody answered. Finally, at 9pm, I got through to someone who informed me that the driver had only just left to collect the ladder from Acton and that I likely wouldn’t receive it before 10pm. This left me with no choice but to send the crew home, paying them their full agreed rate for the 6pm-10pm call time despite no work being done.

The ladder finally arrived at 10:45pm—far too late to salvage the situation. I then had to hire additional crew and pay for the same team to return the next morning to catch up on the hours lost. These extra costs had to be taken out of the funds raised for the charity event, which was deeply upsetting given the purpose of the event.

This entire experience was extremely disappointing. Despite clear communication and confirmation ahead of time, the failure to deliver as promised caused significant disruption, wasted time, and unnecessary financial loss. I will not be using Speedy Hire again and cannot recommend them to anyone needing reliable service.

York branch shocking

2 bad experiences at the York branch

1.Hired a small breaker from them they gave me sds drill with no breaker option I didn’t realise until I got it back to site

2 different occasion they supplied me with a breaker with chisel bits that didn’t fit the gun they supplied me !

Faulty equipment and terrible communication

Faulty tile lifter delivered which caused delays on site whilst it was swapped out.

Collection dates and contact names ignored. Collection attempted on days that weren't specified and when people weren't on site.

Depot does not answer phone, return calls or reply to emails so cannot speak to a human being to arrange a collection at an appropriate time.

Not impressed at all with the service and will avoid using going forward.

I hired a percussion drill and drill…

I hired a percussion drill and drill bit. The shop did not have a selection of sizes of drill bits available. The drill was 110v and the transformer hire, reqd was not intuitive on the online hire pages. The deposit was immediately taken as was the payment, however, a number of days passed before the deposit was repaid into my account.

Upon further investigation, the depot has informed us that you had placed the order on a Saturday when we are not open, we operate Monday - Friday. any orders that are placed between this period will be actioned Monday morning, when you place the order it is not a binding contract until the supplying depot has confirmed when they can deliver the item, you would have been made aware of this on your email.
they have also informed us that when you turned up to collect the item the depot had advised that this was not in stock and explained the procedure, it was relayed back to the depot that the item was not suitable for the job you where doing and was then cancelled. the refund was immediately processed but as standard the refund process does take 3 working days to return to your bank.

We hope that you are satisfied with this resolution. please accept our apologies if this was not the resolution you would have liked

Efficient friendly service

When I arrived the gear was neatly laid out ready and the staff really supported my needs with flexible return timing. Return was quick and easy helped by the good parking arrangement. One minor improvement could be made with a sign visible from the road to help customers with trailers make the turn.
