Hired tower scaffolding. Delivery and pick-up went well. One or two components showed sign of wear but it did the job fine and could be erected by one person. Price was good for the project.

I booked a floor scrubber 1 week in advance, they took the money. I heard nothing, had to chase for any updates and then had to cancel as I was told, the day after I had hoped to collect it, that it might be available 4 days later. Poor.

The entire procedure was a shambles.
From opening account to 2 depots cancelling orders and regional managers not responding.
They take the money for the delivery and cancel the order.
Meanwhile a plasterer is waiting for the boards and no one offers any explanations.

Hired a saw with dust extraction as need to cut a hole in the wall, 2 very helpful and friendly staff members at reception George and Mark, Birmingham branch. Had a few issues with the blade I purchased not fitting and the transformer playing up. George was very knowlegable they went out of their way to help. I can't thank them enough for their kind help. I will definitely hire from their again.

Absolutely shocking service.
I went in person to Speedy Hire (Old Kent Road, London) to place an order for a tool to be delivered to my site on Monday. Before even going there, I called several times to make sure the machine was available. I was assured it was.
While in the branch, they gave me a contract with all my details, prices, and delivery confirmed. I was explicitly told the machine was already in the warehouse and ready.
Monday comes — no delivery. I called on Thursday to ask what happened and was told someone (Keith) would check and call me back. Of course, no one did.
I then called again and was casually told they will not be supplying the machine at all. No explanation, no apology, no accountability — after wasting my time, delaying my job, and giving written confirmation.
This is easily some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Completely unreliable and unprofessional. Never again. AVOID!

for my too hire, order was made via HSS, but fulfilled by their partner firm Speedy, who refuses to speak to me! screw your bereaucracy under the name of data protection! companies should be grateful when end customer made the effort to come to solve problem by contacting them directly. I have informed HSS multiple times to remove the tool since the day of initial delivery, for which they told me Speedy was made aware. but tools still lying around on our site, causing huge inconvenience for access. Get your fingers out of pocket, people!
update: i have read your reply below. please don't pretend your sincerity with such non sense template replies. You are only fooling yourselves. customer and the readers of this post are not stupid. saying 'sorry' in public is FREE and making customer to reach out to you again is just sheer laziness!! I already said in my original remark that you refused to deal with me when i trie! if you have half aunce of sincerity, you can locate my order details from your upstream partner HSS and reach out to me directly.

I had written a bad review on speedy hire and with in half an hire I was given a replacement stump grinder the blade was much sharper and was a much bigger and better machine I was able to finish my job got a great amount of work finish and was very please. I would now recommend this company I did my hire through B and Q.

Hired through hss website and paid
They never gave me the item I hired because although they could see that I have paid and booked etc, it was not “authorised” by the company centrally (or at least that was what the guys in Stockport office said)
I went twice, spent endless time in call centre customer service waiting…. Nothing.
Not only I haven’t manage to do the job I wanted to do, I have also lost my money as I am still trying to resolve a refund.
AVOID
Ps: can’t get hold of the team, busy line, waiting for ages on the phone, the guys at the local depo couldn’t get hold of the “central” team and asked me to call them, although I was there in front of them, they could see the payment and the booking and still didn’t supply the equipment hat I hired and paired. Still wait for my money back

Terrible customer service! I hired a floor sander bundle online for 2 days and paid extra for all the required accessories. It was due to be delivered by their Swansea office. We tried to contact them numerous times to confirm delivery time, but no-on answered the phone. Eventually the sander was delivered at 5pm, so a whole day was lost, and none of the accessories were delivered. The driver had grabbed a few things off the shelf as he thought I hadn't ordered them, I appreciate the gesture, but unfortunately they were not what we needed, so I had to order from Amazon. I have tried repeatedly to ask for a refund of the undelivered accessories but despite promises from customer service to get someone to contact me, I have had no communication from anyone at Swansea and they have not refunded the amount I have requested or collected the machines. I would not recommend this company as they are unreliable with poor communication.

Poor communication. None of the communication that was listed in the email happened.
The email said a delivery time would be confirmed. This never happened. Delivery was outside the standard window of 8-10am which would be understandable if there had been clear communcation about this.
The email said on the day of delivery a text message would be sent when the delivery was next on the route. This text message was never received.
On the day our hire ended, no one came to collect nor the day after. We received no communication about this or explanation.
In the end I phoned as I didn't really want a concrete breaker in my kitchen indefinitely and was told collection would be that day. I explained about the complete lack of good communication and received a mumbled apology.
Hired equipment did the job so I gave an extra star for that but the customer service was 1 star only.

The entire hire process has been a catastrophe. When booking the hire agreement with HSS Pro, I was not informed that the equipment would be cross-hired from Speedy Hire in Milton Keynes.
Firstly, I provided strict instructions regarding the delivery time. However, when I called the transport office, the only delivery window offered was between 12pm and 5pm—which I accepted.
Despite this, on Thursday 13th November at 09:30am, I received a call from the delivery driver stating he was outside, MK17 with the scaffolding tower. As no one was available that morning (due to the agreed afternoon slot), the equipment was left outside against the wall.
The off-hire process has been equally stressful. I called on Friday 14th to ask when the items would be collected and clearly explained that the property gates were not functioning properly, meaning someone needed to be present to open them. I was told the collection would take place on Monday 17th, but this did not happen.
I visited the property myself on Wednesday 19th, leaving another job early—resulting in half a day’s lost pay—and drove 45 miles to load part of the equipment into my van and return it to Speedy in Milton Keynes. I made it clear that additional items were still at the property as they did not all fit in my vehicle, and that these needed to be collected. I was assured they would be picked up during the week.
We are now 13 days into the hire period, and these remaining items still have not been collected. I can say with confidence that I will never be using HSS Pro or Speedy Hire again, nor will I recommend them to any tradespeople in the future.

My contractor hired track mats for the work they were doing on my property. All the materials including a toilet were taken within a week of completion. Speedy Hire, despite promises, have just left their materials on my drive for four weeks now. Even when promised a date for pickup they did not arrive with no explanation. Clearly I am just a materials storage location whilst finding another use

Absolutely terrible service from speedy do not not live up to there name my company ordered a battery powered bracker and angle grinder in October and collection date was 17th turned up was made to wait for almost 3 hours was told one is there with no battery or charger and one is in transit. I can't seem to understand how such a big hire company can run so poorly its honestly unbelievable needs sorting out only manged now in November to get the right stuff still being a hassle.
