Very poor experience

Very poor experience. We previously have dined here and have recommended. We'll never go back after the last 2 experiences over a 3 week period. 1st time maybe a one off but as its local to us we brushed it off. 2nd time they lost a customer for life and we'll share those experiences so people go to other local venues which have lovely attitudes and food. Dreadful policies and nonchalant attitudes. Don't waste your valuable time.

My wife and I regularly visit spuds and…

My wife and I regularly visit spuds and berries as they are very accommodating to all. My wife is a vegetarian (I’m not ) and they’ve made a different risotto for her to her liking, My steak was fabulous.
Always a pleasure dining with you.

The staff in the restaurant and shop are friendly and helpful, we recently had Covid and after a phone call to them a bag of groceries was made up for us to collect.
THANKS

Probably The Best Sunday Lunch in The North

We paid a last minute visit to Spud & Berries today (20/02/2022) arriving just 15 minutes before service was due to end. The place was still absolutely packed but they were still able to quickly prepare a table for us and we were served with a beautiful meal. A sign of a truly good restaurant is one that serves food at the end of service that is just as good and just as fresh as at the beginning and this was certainly the case here. The meat was tender and juicy and the vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection as if they had just been prepared. Bearing in mind how busy they must have been, the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant and despite it being at he end of their shift still took the time to make sure that we were ok and spent some time chatting to us. Nothing overbearing just perfect customer service. This is in my opinion the best Sunday lunch that you can get (and I've eaten a few 🙂) and you don't have to wash up afterwards. It is also excellent value for money. Many thanks

Avoid this business. New management abuse customers for giving feedback

This is for the venue at Hull road, Hemingbrough, YO8 6EL
(Near Selby for the locals)

I recently visited this business for lunch after viewing their Facebook page. The service is okay, nothing to write home about, the cleanliness isn’t great, but the main issue I found was the food and their response to customer feedback. They are extremely rude and refuse to take feedback. I sent them a polite PRIVATE message on their facebook page after my experience. I had found the meal to be rather salty, but figured it may likely be that item, and thought I wouldn’t have it again. Fair enough. I had purchased a lasagne “ready meal” their “chef” makes on site to take home to enjoy with the kids. It was not enjoyed. It was packed with salt rendering it inedible. The kids couldn’t eat it, nor could i. Only way to describe the sensation in my mouth is “salt burn”.
I merely sent a message to give them feedback on my experience so perhaps they are able to look in to this and hopefully make improvements. I didn’t complain, I didn’t ask for anything in return other than for them to take my feedback in to consideration. The response I received was rude and I was basically accused of being a keyboard warrior for not going in to complain and they accused me of wanting money. I never mentioned money, discounts or refunds in my message. They considered the case closed. They blocked me from being able to send a response. Now, I’m glad I didn’t go in as I’m sure I would have been faced with quite a negative confrontation given the nature of the message I received. I certainly wouldn’t risk my kids witnessing them kick off because they can’t take a little feedback from a customer. I had hoped to return in the future to see if they took it on board (I would only give it one more try) but I certainly won’t be wasting my time, energy or money on this place. It is under new management and frankly it’s shocking. This place used to be amazing many moons ago and people raved about their food. I had noticed before going that they had turned off their reviews on Facebook around a month prior which I thought was odd at the time but now I know why. If I can figure out how to add photos I will post the screenshots with this review.
To add, I am autistic and I also suffer from anxiety. I do not drive either. Going back to this place just to give feedback isn’t feasible for me but I didn’t realise sending a private message would warrant such an attack on a person giving private feedback on their experience. They have lost what could have been a valuable customer and many more. Many people have shared their experiences with me since and said the same in regards to food being just awful. It’s not a good place to take your kids if you have any standards. I’m glad I didn’t say anything about my meal at the time I was there as the response I would have received in front of the kids would be surely extremely negative, unless they are in fact keyboard warriors who abuse customers for giving feedback
