Disappointed. Ordered an Oak handrail which arrived damaged with a significant chip..

I ordered a single handrail part first and it was excellent quality.
I have now ordered a full handrail and balustrade set of parts and they are brilliant quality.
The service was excellent. one part was incorrect so they despatched a replacement and collected the errant part without any quibble.
overall i would happily recommend Stairparts Direct to anyone looking to refurbish a stair case.

I rang this company yesterday feeling quite frustrated having spoken to several timber merchants to establish if I really NEEDED ungrooved base rails and handrails for a glass, instead of spindle, staircase. No one at four outlets could give me a definitive answer. I rang Stairpartsonline and a young lady answered, so I asked politely (I hoped) if she could put me through to someone who knows about joinery as I also wanted to establish how to attach a new newel post to a floor that has not had a newel attached previously. I expected her to put me through to someone, however, she proceeded to explain, thoroughly and precisely how this could be done, giving me the link to a product that is made for the job, so that I could see it used, on Youtube. Being a female in the industry (and blonde) is something that one gets used to NOT being given great credibility initially - and I appreciated the unflustered and straighforward way that this young lady handled my question - it is a real thumbs up for great advice. I shall be buying all the stairparts from them as soon as I can find a joiner to proceed with my half started and utterly wrecked staircase.
Continued: I DID buy all the stairparts that I needed to fit my glass panelled staircase from stairpartsonline. On the joiner`s instructions, though I didn`t think from the previous drawing that I would need TWO newel posts at the top of the stairs, he instructed me to get two - I travelled from Mansfield to Sheffield to fetch them before they even opened the doors on Monday morning - within half an hour of getting back he said he didn`t need two newels after all - so I rang and asked if I could take one back - another 40 mile trip - they were, as usual, really fab to deal with and credited the sum straight back into my account. It is a great company to deal with and the quality I used, Hemlock instead of oak, now that it is stained and matt varnished, you could not tell it is NOT oak, at 2/3 of the price.

Excellent service. In my opinion you can only really tell how good a company is when things go wrong. I ordered some glass staircase parts and unfortunately one got broke in transit. How it got broke is a mystery because the packaging was excellent. One phone call and a quick email and photo of the damaged part and I received a replacement the next day. You cant ask for any better than that. 5 stars!!
