Poor service and a worthless used car warranty.

I feel let down by both Station garage and Skoda. The used warranty’s appear not to be worth having.

In September I contacted station garage about a used car that was advertised. After what can only be described as a very poor sales experience I was going to simply go elsewhere. This original issues was resolved in parts but only after the owners intervened after these issues raised to management.
Upon delivery a few minor issues were noted but these were just forgive until water was found in one of the rear lights. I had to communicate this matter and after a long process, even having a damaged replacement light sent. This issue was eventually resolved but only by having to accept a used light from another car and me then finding someone to fit the part at my own expense.
Now 50 days into ownership a further water damaged light is noticed on the same area. This was flagged to the garage but I’m told that my 2 year extended warranty doesn’t cover this. The garage have declined to help and Skoda uk are unwilling to offer any goodwill to try and resolve this matter. This now leaves me with a car covered by the used car warranty, just out of manufacture warranty, but me with a bill likely to cost over £200 including fitting.
To add insult the garage have dragged this matter out making me wait over a week for any response to my questions initially raised.
I feel let down by station garage and Skoda. The used car warranty appears to have a number of get out clauses. My 2017 Fabia never had any of these issues and I should have either kept that or bought privately given the poor experience I’ve had. Unfortunately I can’t recommend neither the garage or Skoda at this point

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. My car was taken as it was a nominated garage from the RAC due to needing gear linkages replacing. I collected the car after payment and within half an hour of driving (on and A road) I was completely unable to select third or fifth gears. I needed to detour for safety reasons by which time I was unable to put the car into any gears. The garage arranged for the car to be collected and told me the part they supplied was faulty they agreed to fix it but I would need to go without my car for the weekend as the part was not available. The car was dropped off the following Monday and as soon as I drove the car I was unable to get into fifth gear so again needed to return the car. Shoddy service and having since spoke to a few mechanics in the area have been told I’ve also been completely ripped off !! AVOID!!!

A good recommendation

We were recommended by a friend to visit Station Garage to discuss the possible purchase of a Skoda. The salesman Russell spent a lot of time with us discussing alternative models and the advantages of an automatic car. We test drove a manual and an automatic car and decided on the automatic. Russell located a 1 year old low milage car which met all of our requirements.
We would thoroughly recommend Station Garage.

I have been using this Garage for my…

I have been using this Garage for my car M.O.T plus repairs for over 3 years. I can't say I have had a great experience. Last year my advisory was a drive shaft boot severely deteriorated, I telephoned a few months later. Although I was told by a member of staff that it's not that important and it can wait until the next M.O.T to get it replaced, My partner said that it is important, so I booked it in and had it replaced in Feb 2025.
I have just had this year's M.O.T in June 2025, only 3 months later it failed on exactly the same drive shaft that I paid for to have replaced. As per usual they were short staffed, due to sickness and being over booked. I left my car all day with the garage and if it wasn't for my partner noticing that it was the same cv shaft that was replaced a few months before, I would have never known. When I queried this, they replied, "oh yes you have had it done". They responded by saying that it must have been a faulty replacement in the first place.

My point is, if they had checked on the system that it was replaced a few months prior then they would have not quoted me a final bill.
Thankfully my Partner had realised that this was not correct, otherwise I would have paid twice in 3 months for a previously replaced part.
They did not apologise for this or for having my car all day, in there defence the receptionist just said, it's just a small rubber replacement. If they had checked in the first place and that the first replacement was okay, then this would not have happened. Customer service is not great, organisation is not good either, it is manick and over busy.
They are a no cutomer time garage and a nice apology would have gone a long way, no aplology or thorough explanation with given. I am truly suprised that this has happened, they would have happily charged me twice in one year. I won't be returning and I will go else where

Great customer service

My Skoda Kamiq recently was serviced by Station Garage. When collecting the vehicle I noticed a crack in the windscreen. Geoff and his team were extremely helpful, replacing the windscreen under their insurance and provided a courtesy car while the work was undertaken. Nice to see a dealership that still cares about customer service!

Absolute joke of a garage

Absolute joke of a garage, had the car for 9’weeks last year and problem kept reoccurring. Won’t accept calls from me and this went on for 10’days until I put a post on social media, by this time the car was in another garage. I have pictures of work done last year and it’s absolutely shocking now being told they’re not liable I am as the car had no oil in it which has caused the rest of the problems, issue they allegedly resolved last year. Spent over £2500 in 3 weeks on a car which is now on way to the scrap heap, the car was bought originally when the owner had Riverview in South Shields and he’s still denying any liability. Honest please stay well clear or you’ll end up worse off just by visiting this garage. I also don’t no why it’s coming up anonymous as he’ll know it’s me which I’m not bothered about. I have however been told today if I blacken his name on social media I will face the wrath and any charges he presses I will be responsible for.. work that one out as I’m lost. If I could post pictures I would but it won’t allow me to.

Disappointing

I didn’t want to have to address this, but I was told I couldn’t use my car until the work was completed.
Even if i didnt want them To do the job. They still want to charge me 200 £ plus vat for “the checking ” I’m very unhappy with how much they’re charging—it’s more than three times the actual price. I consulted with two other mechanics who said the job would take around 20 min and cost max £150. Yet, this place is charging me over £600! I feel this is extremely overpriced for the work .
It feels like they assumed we were young and didn’t know much about cars, so they thought they could charge us anything. I’m really disappointed by how they took advantage of us.

Air conditioning ( V70) failed

Air conditioning ( V70) failed - Halfords said I had a leak, and my usual independent thought the same, when I booked a future appointment.

I thought I would try this specialist - told to bring it in later that day: tested no leak - fixed for £90 within the hour - just a low level.

Very impressive, friendly service (if it fails will update 😀)

Excellent customer service

Over the years, quite a few, I may add :) I have had dealings with local garages and dealerships for repair, service etc... with mixed levels of satisfaction.
Unfortunately (in the nicest possible way) I recently had my car uplifted and delivered to Station Garage, due to a fault light on my vehicle and it being in limp mode.
I had spoken to Station Garage prior to it being uplifted and was given sound advice by the service manager. Both the manager and Sarah were extremely helpful, beyond the level I would have either anticipated or expected- Thank you!
Now the vehicle is a Mitsubishi which have withdrawn the sale of vehicles in the UK a couple of years ago, which means that EV technicians are a rarity.
They somehow managed, despite the immense demand on them, received the vehicle and within 2 days contacted me (prior to the booked appointment for repair) messaged me to say it was ready for collection.
Overall I have never had an experience with a garage that was so positive. There are many companies that could learn a thing or two from this excellent company. Again another big thank you!
