Structural Engineering LTD 

I accidentally emailed questions to UK Structural Systems Ltd. based in Glasgow instead of one local to me.

They still took the time to respond to my queries even though they are 360+ miles from me and I'm clearly not going to buy a UB from them.

Engineering profession is very important and challenging as it requires risk taking.

Chris was great, very quick and easy. We needed a structural engineer to calculate RSJ size and integration. Whole process including receiving the calcs and sizes in half a day. Impressed and recommend!

Chris provided a quick turnaround in reviewing the property we were about to buy and gave us all the reassurances we needed to proceed. They were very helpful and prompt whenever they emailed or rang, an excellent service all round.

Chris has been extremely helpful and professional. I was about to complete a purchase and under immense time pressure, but the bank has insisted on having an investigative report done on a crack in the property before fund can be released. Chris managed to book in a site visit and got the report done that very next day. He worked until mid night to complete the report.

We initially engaged Chris and Helena for a small project to remove an internal structural wall and install a new steel to open-up a reception/dining area. This small project expanded over the life of the project to a much more involved internal refurbishment, including:

- Creating new office space, including installation of pocket-doors;

- Removing existing log-burning stove and chimney, installation of supporting steel frame and installation of a tunnel fireplace and flue within new chimney column, ensuring compliance with fire-supplier's specifications and the house's structural requirements;

- Replacing ceilings and installing new lighting throughout;

- Repairing / re-plastering a significant portion of the property;

- New staircase with custom glass-balustrades;

- New boiler and Nest heating system;

- Underfloor heating in certain areas; and

- Re-decoration throughout, including tiling, painting etc.

From inception through to completion, Chris and Helena worked tirelessly to undertake the works and/or engage and project-manage the building, including all trades and sub-contractors, and advising on scope, costs etc.

Aside from ensuring the delivery of the works to the highest quality, Chris and Helena were incredibly patient (particularly with the multiple “just one more thing” requests), proactive and adapted the timetable and approach on numerous occasions to ensure the works were delivered efficiently and with the minimum of stress and hassle caused to us.

We cannot fault Chris or Helena in their attention to detail and sound guidance throughout the project, could not have done it without them and would not hesitate in recommending them for whatever project you may be considering.

An excellent team! Helena was so prompt in making the arrangements for Chris, the structural engineer to inspect the problems with our property. They were both very friendly, knowledgeable and always made themselves available. We always felt like were were in good hands. We had queries and had to go back and forth and we have to say they were always thorough with their responses. They are also well connected in the industry and recommended builders and architects. After a site visit Helena often followed up with a phone call just to check how things went and to ensure we were satisfied. Excellent customer service! We would highly recommend them.
