Waste of time

This bank is incompetent and time wasting. They advertise attractive mortgage cashback rates and credit card balance transfer deals, but after wasting hours giving them the documents they asked for, they suddenly decide it's not in "our mutual benefit" to proceed. Translation: the offers are fraudulent and only for "customers" they can predate upon.

Summerland Credit Union not so friendly any longer.

I opened my first banking account with Summerland Credit Union 23 years ago. I liked how the customer service was always friendly and access to support was as quick as a phone call.

I've noticed increasing call wait times and less friendly attitude with their call centre. I've also had trouble with overseas bank transfers being rejected even though I check the information and it being correct. I ended up having to use my other account with CBA and it went through with no problems.

I was hoping Summerland had sorted that out but I had two bounce back transfers. I confirmed the information required both times as provided from their website and through calling customers service to ensure it was correct. I just got an email again from the sender saying the account number is incorrect.

Calling Summerland, I feel like I enter an alternate reality where they say, that's the correct numbers for a wire transfer but then Summerland won't accept the transfer. The customer service person who answered seemed unfriendly and even snarky. When she raised her voice, I asked if I could talk to a supervisor and she told me no and hung up on me.

I was frustrated but not mean in my call asking for assistance to receive my money. I called back and got a friendly customer service person but still jumping through hoops to find out what the problem is.

I have requested a call back from a supervisor to see if I will stay with this bank or move to another provider. I want to support Summerland for not investing in fossil fuels but I can't support a bank with rude customer service.
