Always fly SunExpress when visiting Turkey
I’ve been travelling regularly for the past 6–7 years and have flown with countless airlines, both major and budget. Without a doubt, my experience with SunExpress stands out as the worst I’ve ever had.
To start with, their online check-in opens 72 hours before departure—but their system conveniently “wasn’t working,” leaving passengers stuck. Instead of resolving the issue, they charged an extra £20 just to check in at the counter. On top of that, the baggage policy felt like a money trap: only 4kg allowed for hand luggage, and an outrageous £83 fee if it went up to 8kg.
Unfortunately, the return flight was even worse. This time, it wasn’t just about poor service or hidden charges—it felt genuinely unsafe. The way the aircraft was being flown was extremely unsettling, to the point where I was seriously concerned for my family and everyone on board. It was chaotic, uncomfortable, and honestly frightening.
Overall, this wasn’t just a bad experience—it was a complete disaster from start to finish. Between the technical failures, excessive charges, and deeply uncomfortable flight experience, I wouldn’t choose this airline again under any circumstances—even if the ticket were free

Overall an ok experience. A few adjustments they may want to look into. Inflight menu states they accept visa and mastercard this was not the case only visa in a physical form was accepted no apple pay and no google pay. Most people on my flight couldnt order food and drinks because of this.
Also the baggage restrictions did not highlight the additional cost of €4 per lb overweight on the return flight. I returned from Antalya to London and was charged €130 for our cases.
Complimentary water on flight would be nice especially when customers are not able to use their mastercards on flight without prior notice being given. I flew 5 hours no drink on a hot plane whilst pregnant.
Otherwise a decent flight. Seating was pleasant and staff were friendly.

This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
Your staff clearly told me I had 20 kg baggage on my flight from Denmark to Izmir, and I checked in my bag based on that. I even confirmed that the same applied for my return.
On my return, I was suddenly told I had no baggage allowance and was forced to pay 80 euros.
This is your mistake, not mine. Your staff gave false information, and I made purchases based on that.
Passing the responsibility to the customer instead of fixing your own error is extremely poor service.
Very disappointing.

The best airline to Antalya! Easy booking, good prices everything is wonderful! We fly every year with sunexpress to Antalya it's like a tradition! Big love to sunexpress and to Turkey ♥️🙏
I often travel by Sunexpress airlines for personal reasons. The flights are always punctual, the personnel are very friendly and polite. Price and quality are outstanding.
It was ok…. But No airco? It was freaking hot in that plane. And the landing was very rough, maybe another pilot who hasn't been flying for very long?
Service was ok… but that was it.

By far the worst airline I’ve experienced and I’m pretty well travelled. Unable to check in online. Was asked to pay £5 to check in at airport despite this but credit card charged £49.99. Again unable to check in for return flight from Antalya. Our travel agent managed to speak to them and they said we were a no show on our outbound journey! Eventually checked in online to be charged and additional £33.78. Their website continually crashing making you restart process several times. Staff at the airport check ins completely incompetent. Some passengers were nearly missing flights due to length of time taking to drop luggage off. Expect to pay more for inflight services but they were ridiculous and took so long some passengers weren’t served. My advice would be pay more for a better airline

Not bad but can be progressed. The food was so cold (ice in it) and not enough. Our seat are in front of the plane, but when we order sandwich, they said it is finished. And it was the dinner time.
But staff was hardworking and aircraft was clean. I will prefer them again

I have flown with SunExpress multiple times, and while there are some positives, there are also consistent issues that should not be ignored.
The aircraft are generally clean, and some of the flight attendants are professional and kind. However, this is not consistent. On several occasions, I encountered cabin crew who appeared distant, unapproachable, or even slightly dismissive. This inconsistency in attitude creates an unpredictable experience and does not reflect a strong service standard.
A more serious concern is the lack of firm rule enforcement during flights. When passengers ignore basic rules, the response from the crew is often too soft or delayed. This leads to unnecessary discomfort and, more importantly, raises concerns about safety culture on board. Clear, consistent enforcement is essential, not optional.
The onboard menu has improved in variety, but it still lacks adequate vegetarian options. For passengers with specific dietary preferences, this means there is effectively nothing to choose from.
The most frustrating part of the experience is the service before landing, particularly on flights to Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The cabin often feels disorganized, rushed, and poorly coordinated. There is a noticeable lack of structure at a time when clarity and control are most needed.
Overall, SunExpress has potential, but the gaps in professionalism, passenger management, and service consistency significantly impact the experience. These are not minor details, they directly affect comfort, trust, and safety perception.

Worst experience, do not book with sun express! I’ve never left a review before, but this experience has been the worst I've ever had.
Me and my boyfriend were to fly to Turkey and arrived at the airport 3 hours early. The line for bag drop off only opened 2 hours before, but the line was longer than I had ever seen. There were only 3 counters open (2 regular, 1 priority) so the line went incredibly slow. We had asked twice if we couldn’t do self drop off, since we had checked in online and our flight would leave soon, but that wasn’t possible for our fight. After 1,5 hours of waiting in line, we were told at the counter that we weren’t able to drop off our bags anymore, because boarding had already started. They said they called from the counter that people from our flight must go to the priority line. However, in an overly crowded line, that was impossible to hear. They didn’t announce through the speakers, on the boards or walk past the line to announce properly. They had no compassion, didn’t tell us what to do, just told us we were too late and should have paid more attention. They said we had to rebook a flight and get out the line. So after 2,5 hours of waiting, we had to book a hotel for the night and another flight, which cost us an additional EUR600, and our first day off our holiday. After contacting SunExpress, they’ve done nothing with this information, but say we had to contact our touroperator.
On the way back, we checked in online, but they said that was only a reservation, not a full check in, so we had to pay extra at the counter. Super unfriendly people.
Extremely disappointed with this airline, would discourage anyone who wants to book a flight with them.

I have been flying with SunExpress for 12 years, twice a year, from Bodrum to Munich and back.
Most of the time I had huge problems with the online booking, BUT:
Apparently, they have fixed the issues, because this time the booking was absolutely smooth and painless!
´THANKS for listening to our complaints and solving them!
This was my first initial experience with Sunexpress. I had not heard of company before. This is a basic airline, which acts accordingly. The check- in process was easy & smooth, I had pre-check online prior. Staff were great and assisted myself and special need child. Overall experience not bad at all!
QUITE A CUMBERSOME EXPERIENCE JUST TO CHECK IN! NOT SURE HOW THE REST OF THE JOURNEY WILL BE.

We booked a return flight back for the wrong month. Firstly their website is awful and jumped from July (the correct month) to September ( the wrong month). When trying to change it through my account online it errored. We called the Customer service rep who said we would have to pay £200+ to change it. The initial incorrect flight was £99 each. The correct flight was ~£63. Now the terms and conditions state if the flight is less then the original then you will still pay the larger of the two fares plus 50€, if it was higher then you would pay the difference plus 50€. In the end we did it online, but we’re still charged £179 when the most we should have paid was 100€? A) we couldn’t change the flight as it errored. B) the rep said it was going to cost £200+ to amend C) we had to cancel the return flight and rebook as this was our only option - costing us way more. There was no way we could amend it as per the T&Cs

Have been booking with sunexpress for a few years, two / three times a year and have never had any problems with them, staff are always friendly, plane's are comfortable, easy to book on app
The site looks stable. The booking was done in 5 minuter. The price fit with my travel period. We have for years very good experience with Sunexpress. In the past there was a problem (wrong name on the ticket, ticket useless) that was solved on management level. Very good
I bought a ticket on 19 April. I was told that the credit card transaction fell apart and my money was sent back to be received in 3 days. I did receive it, however 38.95 Euro was missing. My bank in Turkey confirmed in written that the said amount was cut by Sunexpress. They dont know why. I wish to receive the said amount back (BTW: I had to buy the same ticket on your TR hotline on 24 April). I was told to apply via your internet site. Nothing is available or working there. Please return to me via mail Best regards
