Sun Island Tours is predominantly a wholesale tour operator, so we generally work through travel agents rather than directly with the public.
We did try to assist directly and asked twice for the basic details required to quote, including departure date, accommodation standard and some direction on the type of island-hopping package required. Unfortunately, this information was not provided.
Without dates, accommodation standard, budget, must-see destinations or client interests, we are unable to prepare an accurate or meaningful itinerary.

Booked a tour in October 2015 and paid $1000 deposit. Beacause of the war in Iran our flight with Qatar airlines though the middle east our flight was cancelled. In turn we couln't book a flight to Greece. The company would not give us back our deposit. This is grousely unfair as it was any fault of ours.

To clarify a few important points, your booking was made in October 2025 for travel in June 2026, and at the time of your cancellation, the cruise and all land arrangements were still operating as scheduled. Greece remains a safe destination to travel to, and the departure itself has not been cancelled.
While we completely understand the disruption caused by your flight cancellation, this does not automatically cancel the rest of the trip. In these situations, airlines will often provide alternative routing options, and many clients continue with their travel plans via different flight paths.
The amount retained is the standard non-refundable deposit, which is applied in line with both our terms and conditions and those of the cruise operator. The cruise company, who has already been paid, is also applying their own cancellation fees. These deposits cover costs already incurred in securing your booking, including confirmed space with suppliers and the significant work involved in planning and managing the arrangements.
We do appreciate that this was not your intended outcome, and we understand how disappointing it is when travel plans are impacted.

Information and confirmation was received in a timely manner. The pre-tour hotel price was double what I can get myself for the lead in room type which was surprising.

Regarding the pre-tour hotel, our rooms are held and contracted well in advance to ensure availability for our clients. Online dynamic rates can fluctuate and may sometimes appear lower at certain times, but they do not always offer the same availability, conditions or flexibility.

Tour Feedback
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the recent tour experience provided by your company. While I appreciate the opportunity to travel and explore new destinations, several aspects of the tour fell significantly short of expectations.
1. Communication Issues:
We received an email at 12am the evening before our tour, detailing a last-minute change in pick-up time. Throughout the tour, there was a lack of clear communication regarding the itinerary and next steps, leaving us uncertain and unsupported.
2. Transportation Comfort:
Due to insufficient participant numbers, our group of seven was transferred to a minivan. Whilst this was a disclosed things to note, the vehicle was cramped and uncomfortable for the duration of the journey. Although your company advertised an expert bilingual driver, our driver had very limited English, making communication difficult and further impacting our experience.
3. Scheduling and Breaks:
On one occasion, after a lengthy 2.5 hour journey Seville to Granada we immediately commenced a 2.5-hour tour at Alhambra without any opportunity for a break or refreshments, toilet break only was offered. This scheduling oversight was exhausting and did not consider the well-being of your guests.
4. Accommodation Standards:
The Abades Nevada Palace Hotel, which was rated as 4-star accommodation, was exceptionally dirty and run down, falling far below the advertised standard.
5. Guiding and Commentary:
On the last day, we were transferred to a coach with other tour passengers, which improved comfort. Understanding this is another disclosed things of note, the tour guide’s commentary was limited, especially for English-speaking participants, diminishing the overall value of the tour.
Positive Note:
I would like to acknowledge that the local guides were excellent, fluent in both English and Spanish, and greatly enhanced our experience at each destination.
Summary:
Overall, the lack of communication, comfort, and adherence to advertised standards resulted in a disappointing experience. I urge your company to consider these issues to ensure future guests receive the quality of service and care that was promised.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback following your recent Spain tour. Apologies for the delay in replying, but we wanted to ensure that all comments had been carefully reviewed with our Product Manager as well as our local operating partner.
Regarding the late pick-up notification, the change was unfortunately advised to us outside office hours (on 31 Dec) and was communicated to the hotel and by email as soon as we received it. We understand that short-notice changes can be frustrating, even when minor, and we are working with our supplier to improve how these updates are relayed to guests. In this case, the driver was organised by our a transfer company we work with for all pickups.
In relation to the size of the vehicle, this departure operated with 7 passengers in an 8-seat minivan. Our tours are guaranteed to operate from as few as 2 travellers, whereas many traditional coach tours require 15 or more passengers to run. To avoid cancelling departures or increasing prices, smaller groups may travel in a minivan rather than a full coach. We do however appreciate your comments regarding comfort on longer driving days and have asked the operator to review how these journeys are paced and communicated.
We also regret that some commentary was difficult to follow in English at times. While multilingual touring is provided, we have raised your feedback to ensure clearer and more consistent English explanations for international guests.
Your comments regarding the Abades Nevada Palace Hotel were particularly concerning. We have not previously received negative reports for this property, however we take accommodation standards very seriously and have asked our partner to investigate the matter directly with the hotel.
We are pleased to hear that the local destination guides enhanced your experience, and we appreciate you acknowledging them.

Guides made a big effort to maximise our experience by avoiding crowds which we really appreciated. Service is very important to them. Istanbul old town you need mobility & fitness as there is a lot of walking.

During our tour in Malta & Malta
During our tour in Malta, we were given incorrect pick up time by the tour representative. He (Jorge) gave us a later time than that was given to us by Flight centre as a result my wife & I missed the tour to Gozo. Very poor communication from the agents in Slima in Malta as their office was close to the pick up point. With the help of our travel agent we secured a refund.
The tour in Malta is given to different tour operators & there is minimal communication between our day tours. However in Sicily we had one tour guide & it was well organised with Franco & he was excellent. He gave us good information on the site’s history & funny anecdotes. He was able to assist us with our taxi rides to leave Sicily. The last hotel is located too far from the airport costing over €120 to get to the airport.
