Switchbot calls there remote controller “universal remote,” but it is neither universal nor practical: constant bugs, mandatory hub, no automation, and terrible ergonomics. Just a marketing gimmick to avoid.

Using these products is a constant source of frustration. First, the remote does not work without a hub, which forces an additional purchase and makes the product far more expensive than expected. Even with the hub, the system feels unfinished. Bluetooth devices are poorly supported: some buttons stop working, and devices cannot be included in automation routines. This makes the smart home experience extremely limited and disappointing.

The remote freezes frequently, and its ergonomics are disastrous. The ABCD programmable buttons all display the same icon, with no text to distinguish them, making them confusing and impractical. Worse still, it is impossible to assign a full activity to a single button, such as turning on the TV and the Apple TV at once. Instead, you must manually select one device, perform the action, then repeat with another. This is anything but "universal."

Finally, customer support provides no real solutions. They endlessly redirect users to R&D, which clearly never tests these products in real-life conditions.

Switchbot ultimately sells a remote that is limited, unstable, and misleading. Unlike other brands that deliver true universal remotes with macros and real usability, this one is just a poorly designed gadget disguised as a solution.

After my review, I was contacted by the SwitchBot support team. They first sent me a replacement device, but since it had the same issue, they then offered me a refund for my purchase.
In addition, my feedback was forwarded to the research and development team.
I really appreciate this response and find it very positive.

I now hope that SwitchBot will soon release a firmware update that reliably fixes the existing issues and also takes customer needs into account. That would demonstrate the company’s genuine commitment to improving its products.

I have used various Switchbot devices and their app since there Kickstarter in 2020. All, such as curtain, solar panel, meter, hub have worked as expected with full integration with Alexa. I have used the meter devices for room, outdoor, fridge, freezer and vivarium temperature management and can recommend their devices

Switchbot is easy to make contact with, always very friendly. Products are from high quality!

Ordered an S10 in July when it showed that it would dispatch in 5-7 days, then 5-7 days later, I was told my order was a 'pre-order' but it's not. Then I was told that due to shipping issues that it would be delivered by end of September. Come September, they are now saying mid-October... no prizes for guessing what they'll say in October....

I’m extremely disappointed with SwitchBot. I returned products over a month ago (worth more than £400), and despite countless promises from their support team, I still haven’t received my refund. Every time I contact them, I get vague reassurances and false deadlines that come and go without any action.

They’ve wasted my time, broken trust, and caused huge frustration. I’ve now had no choice but to escalate this to the ombudsman to try and get my money back.

This review is simply a warning to anyone considering buying from SwitchBot: if something goes wrong, don’t expect a straightforward resolution. They’ll string you along and leave you out of pocket.

Update 13/10/2025:

After waiting over two months for my bank and SwitchBot to resolve a chargeback issue, I was told by SwitchBot to cancel the chargeback so they could process my refund directly. I followed their instructions, but the refund has still not been received. There’s been zero communication or update from SwitchBot since.

This level of customer service is unacceptable. I’ll continue updating this review until the refund is issued.

This is a review about Blind tilt. I have had four of them for about two years and they have performed absolutely fantastic. No connection issues, they always perform automations I have set up and I have only charged them once. The included solar panels have kept them charged even in the harsh winter conditions of Finland where the sun might not shine for weeks or atleast not enough for charging. Installation was very easy and they have stayed in place only with the included adhesives, no screws needed. Thanks for the awesome product!

Bought a co2 monitor and it works very well

Switchbot is a great tech company that makes us feel secure at home it the majority of gadgets.

Never had any problem with them and shipping products or easy and breezy.

Definitely something to buy from again.

I’ve been using a few different SwitchBot products over the last few months, and they’ve honestly made day‑to‑day life a lot easier. I started with the SwitchBot Mini Smart Remote back in April and now have three of them set up — one in our main bedroom, one in my daughter’s bedroom, and another in the front room. They’ve been brilliant for controlling our air conditioning units, saving us from constantly reaching for the original remotes.
In June, I added the SwitchBot Water Leak Detector with the sensor cable and their 2K Pan & Tilt Indoor Camera. The camera sits in our front room and I’ve been really impressed with the picture quality , it’s sharp, clear, and perfect for keeping an eye on things when we’re out. The water detector is tucked under the kitchen sink, and while we haven’t had any leaks (thankfully), it gives a lot of peace of mind knowing it’s there as an early warning if anything does go wrong.
Overall, everything has worked reliably so far and the setup was straightforward. Between the remotes, camera, and leak detector, I feel like these have been really solid additions to the house.

The motion sensor is an excellent product, very durable build quality and consistent in its usage. I advice anyone who uses switchbot products to install at least 1 hub, this allows you to not only use the product further away from your router but also allows interconnectivity to home assistent / homey.
The motion sensor can be set to different sensivity levels, which works well. The setup interface is very user friendly.
I have been using this motion sensor for over a year now and it has not failed once.

I've used Switchbot devices for a number of years now. I started with their basic meters in various rooms so I could track if the house was getting too humid or not, then they released the meter plus which gave the same data but on a nice big, easily readable screen so great in the kitchen, living room.
They then upgraded their hub, I got offered a good deal & upgraded this which freeded up a plug socket as it's just USB powered. They have released another hub since but I can't justify that & holding out for the coming AI hub.
The switchbot kit integrates great with Home Assistant and the data from their meters can trigger automations throughout the house, like turning up radiators in the kids rooms if the temperatures drop, even changing the colour of lights depending on the humidity level outside to easily see if it's worth hanging the clothes outside to dry or not.

Great smart home gadgets that allow you to do all sorts of fun things. I have several products from SwitchBot that I use with the Home Assistant integration around my house. My most recent addition is the Bot. It’s basically a remote button pusher which is super handy for automating things that don’t have smarts built in. I bought it to allow me to toggle the under cabinet lighting in my kitchen on and off. The lighting is handy, but it’s an older low voltage system that would otherwise require me to replace it or do a bunch of soldering to automate. Enter the Bot which just allows me to stick this little device to the existing power switch to toggle it on and off! Now I can have the lighting come on automatically when one of my motion sensors detects someone at the counter. No more need to hit the button while in the middle of cooking! I’ll definitely be getting more Switch Bot gadgets in the future.

What a fantastic company and What a brilliant product. I purchased a k10 vacuum cleaning robot. Its small size is perfect for my house. Its never failed us. We also have a pet name for it.

Amazing company and amazing tech I have many smart gadgets from them one of the latest the blind tilt and wow game changer everyone I. The house loves it and guest love it too when seen in action setting schedules is super easy and it adjusts with the light outside which is perfect for sunrise and sunset. If you haven't tried their products you should amazing .

The lock pro is solid product. It’s got great battery life via the rechargeable batteries. They last around six months for me. The physical quality is also great. No faults or issues in over a year.

The apps ux needs improvement. It’s dated. Also the lock pro should come with the rechargeable batteries as standard rather than being an optional extra.

The SwitchBot S10 is a feature-rich robot vacuum/mop with dual stations: one for auto-emptying dust and one for fresh/dirty water, plus a self-cleaning roller mop and optional direct water hookup. Cleaning performance and mapping are strong once set up.

My first unit had issues right out of the box: repeated “roller mop stuck” errors, occasional “water filling abnormal” alerts, and difficulty docking. Support responded quickly, shipping a replacement and pushing a firmware update. Within about two weeks those problems were resolved, and the S10 has run reliably since.

Pros: excellent hard-floor cleaning, hands-off water refills and mop drying, and a solid app with smart mapping.
Cons: still a bit loud on max suction, corners aren’t spotless, and setup requires care.

Bottom line: after an initial hiccup and quick support fix, the S10 delivers impressive automation and low maintenance for everyday vacuuming and mopping.

SwitchBot clearly made my life easier. I use it everyday to control my electric window shutters and it works perfectly. I also have one bot on my computer to remotely power it on so I can easily access my pc remotely without leaving it always on.

Been using the switchbot hub 3 now for a couple of months and so far it's working flawlessy. It acts as a central hub for not only switchbot products but also other third party companies that support matter. This usefull hub isn't just a hub but also an alarm clock a bridge to other matters products including switchbot of course . It works alongside other switchbot products smoothly like the smart locks cameras and any other product from switchbot. Easy to set up and alot of fun making my other smart matter products work alongside switchbot . For example I can toggle my Phillips hue lights on and off via the hub 3 with some clever switchbot software .I would highly recommend switchbot products as reliable easy to use and seamless . Definitely worth getting the hub 3
