My girlfriend and I recently went through our first ever house purchase and, as first-time buyers, we were completely clueless when it came to choosing a conveyancing solicitor. Our estate agent recommended Taylor Rose, and in particular Harley Sommer, Consultant Conveyancer, having worked with him on a number of recent cases.

I have to say, Harley made the entire experience incredibly seamless.

From the initial requests for information right through to completion, everything felt effortless during what could otherwise have been a very stressful process. Harley's communication was exceptional – emails were often answered within minutes and phone calls almost immediately. He was always professional, approachable and genuinely happy to help.

Being first-time buyers, we naturally had plenty of questions along the way, both big and small. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble for Harley, and he took the time to explain things clearly and guide us through every stage of the process.

Throughout the purchase, my girlfriend and I regularly commented on how impressed we were with the speed at which Harley dealt with everything. We were already saying before we'd even completed that we would be recommending him to our friends when the time comes for them to buy their first homes.

My purchase completed a few days late after the legal completion date. This incurred additional costs both from the seller and from Taylor Rose. But part of the delay was a crucial email that Taylor Rose missed for 2 weeks despite several chasers. The attitude when I mentioned this was very defensive and childish.
They also have a bunch of additional costs that are not easy to grasp when they send you the initial invoice and you realise at the end.
It's a big firm and some work is done by juniors and the work feels very script based without advice or critical thinking, overall a lot of people get involved and it doesn't feel you are well taken care of.

Basically, the 5 star review is down to Atshaam our appointed solicitor. When we initially started with Taylor Rose, we sent everything to their portal prior to going on holiday only to find they kept asking for things they already had. Then our sale got handed to Atshaam and it was a breath of fresh air, a solicitor we could talk to, easy to get hold of, responsive to requests and friendly. Thank you.

We had the pleasure of being assisted by Clare Blandford throughout our sale.

Our chain was long and quite complex, involving a leasehold property as well as a change of solicitor by one of the parties along the way. Clare did an extraordinary job of keeping everyone aligned, from the bottom of the chain right through to the top.

She kept us continuously updated and, whenever things became uncertain, she was always there to provide clear advice on the best steps to take next. Her communication was excellent throughout, and we always felt that she had a clear overview of what was happening across the entire chain.

Taylor Rose are probably the most useless solicitors I have ever worked with. Poor communication, shoddy service, unbelievably unhelpful. I received an email stating to call if if I have any questions or need help filling out the SDLT form. I call a d they said to fill it out to the best of my ability because they cannot help. Mickey Mouse operation. Do not use.

Mitchell was great to work with and always contactable throughout the whole process, even working on my case when he was unwell as a commitment to getting my property sale through in good time. I would thoroughly recommend Mitchell to anyone looking for a good conveyancer.

After nearly two years of trying to sell our house we had experienced exactly the type of issues so commonly complained about with conveyancing solicitors - lack of communication, poor understanding of the specifics of our situation, apathy and arrogance, inconsistency with staff involved and a seemingly determined reluctance to answer the phone.. ever. That was until Victoria from Taylor Rose got involved following a recommendation from a mortgage broker. She quickly developed a thorough understanding of the issues we had been having with an inept management company that were affecting the title of our property and got it resolved in a matter of a couple of weeks.. something our previous solicitor never achieved. Not only that, she was accessible and personable throughout the whole process, answered the phone every time I called and happily talked through the issues with me to help me develop an understanding of what was going on. She made it all seem so easy compared to what had been a long, drawn out and seemingly endless journey previously. I honestly cannot recommend her enough.

Excellent service from both Humza and Chirag. They moved very quickly on my sale as requested. Communication excellent.
I also used them to buy a property. Again they moved as fast as they could. Very helpful and friendly.

A solicitor firm which endorses dirty purchase techniques such as allowing their clients to request huge sums of money off sale prices a week before exchange. Unresponsive, and hire freelance solicitors with whom they have no control over. Often being out of office with no out of office signature and no one else on the team managing their work if they are out of office. Avoid at all costs.

Taylor Rose handled our conveyancing/mortgage matter from April 2026, and knew from day one that a Deed of Variation was needed for a Rent Charge on the title. Despite this, the solicitors for our management company weren't approached until early July, and weren't even sent the title until roughly two weeks before completion was due. The draft deed wasn't approved until 20 July.

Throughout, despite countless calls, emails and portal messages from us and our mortgage broker, we were repeatedly told everything was on track for a 1 July completion. It wasn't. We ended up missing our mortgage rate deadline, incurring extra interest costs on two payments at a variable rate, and were also presented with a shortfall figure roughly double what it should have been (only caught by our broker).

Our entire mortgage that we'd agreed with the bank also expired and they initially refused to extend the deadline. Eventually, after a lot of work by our broker, they gave us a short extension which allowed us to complete. If they hadn't extended, it would likely have cost us around £10,000+ in costs over the mortgage term.

No apologies, no ownership of the issues. We're waiting for accountability and reimbursement for costs that should never have arisen.
