Absolutely fantastic experience with The Costume Shop in Portlaoise! 🇮🇪
The selection is massive — costumes for every occasion imaginable, from themed parties to fancy dress events. The quality is excellent, especially for the price point, and everything arrived exactly as described.
The staff go above and beyond — incredibly friendly, helpful, and quick to offer advice on sizing, accessories, or style ideas. Whether ordering online or collecting in person, the whole process is smooth and hassle-free. I also loved the flexible options for delivery or collection, and the fact that they stay open until 8pm during the week is such a bonus for anyone with a busy schedule.

Great customer service, fast shipping
I wasn’t happy with the size and style of my first order. Reordered and accidentally ordered two. long story short the double order came and was perfect I sent back both others and within 3hrs of my tracked return being delivered I had a refund. Great customer service and fast shipping can’t be faulted.

Poor after sales service
Edit- We discovered the ear muffs were also torn BEFORE he wore the costume hince him not being able to wear them as part of the costume so saying that you can’t replace them as they were worn is untrue.
The Soldier/skeleton costume I ordered was the worst I ever had literally fell apart at every seam! When I noticed the knee pads torn I contacted them and they replaced the knee pad. When my son put the costume on for the first time for Halloween we noticed more bits torn and broken. I contacted the company again and they said because it was passed the “14 day” returns they would not help in any way. Nothing about the product being not fit for purpose!! So be careful to check EVERYTHING before this 14 day period! Really unsatisfactory

We’re really sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your costume, especially after looking forward to Halloween. We did replace the knee pads straight away when you first contacted us, and we always want customers to be happy with their purchase.
Unfortunately, once a costume has been worn and used for its intended events, we’re unable to accept it back post Halloween and outside the returns period — this policy is in line with Irish and EU consumer law for seasonal and personal-use items.
Please reach out again via our contact form or “our website” with your order number and photos of the issue so our customer service team can review whether there’s anything further we can do to help or if we can replace further parts of the costume.
