I’m honestly really upset with how The Gym Group handled my situation — or rather, completely ignored it. I paid upfront for a 12-month membership, but due to medical reasons, I had to stop going shortly after joining. I emailed their customer service asking to pause my membership or get some help, but I never got a single reply. Nothing. Not even an automated response.

In the end, I only went to the gym 8 times in an entire year. That’s a lot of money down the drain, and it feels like they just didn’t care at all. No flexibility, no support, and no refund policy — even when the circumstances were out of my control.

It’s extremely disappointing and disheartening to be treated like this, especially when you reach out in good faith. I would strongly advise others to think twice before signing up, because once they have your money, you’re on your own — even if your situation genuinely changes.

A spotlesly clean gym but some of the people dont knowwhat a gym is for. They should stay at home and do social media

I’m on a fitness journey, and wanted to take part in classes.

The class was very energised and upbeat, the gym instructor was motivating.

I have been a member of a few gyms in the past and can safely say this is the best that I have joined. The gym is always clean and tidy,equipment always clean and accessible which the staff can be seen busily doing when the aren’t taking classes or with clients. Staff are always welcoming and friendly to all members and if any issues arise and reported too them they get them resolved asap. The classes are great and adapted where possible too meet the clients individual needs. I highly recommend Gym Group Orpington

They offer free parking but then invite euro car parks to farm car registrations. Signage in gym regarding parking is contradictory to car park signage which is unlit and difficult to find.

I was fined £60 because of this and the gym was unwilling to help settle the issue with the registration farmers.

I had to quit my membership in order to pay the bill. This works out around 3 months membership. But I probably won’t consider rejoining, unless they fix the signage.

The gym is nice, clean and user friendly however it could benefit from a second smith machine.

I think the gym needs more machines that are useful,
The manager needs to be changed as he thinks he can just walk up to you and tell you what to do just a straight up donut,
Everywhere has rules but the rules of this gym is ridiculous no bags on the floor you can’t make noise hitting heavy weights you can even light spar with no contact & they have a boxing bag the manager is quick to tell people to put weights away that are minority but his counterparts get different treatment he puts the weights back for them which is puzzling to me & people drink out of the fountain provided and this is very unhygienic, the toilets are always dirty poo steins up the sides yes the equipment is always cleaned by gym staff not cleaner's but I stil have to wash my hands before leaving all in all the standards aren’t met in the toilets, there’s a small few trainers who know how to train people whilst others are teaching the wrong form, I recommend Shawn & Dan as they know what there doing not shunning anyone else they have a lady that knows what she’s doing but I don’t know her name & the gym closes frequently other than that it’s an ok gym

Great gym, friendly trainers and management that are willing to help, the free classes are good and can be booked and accesed on the app. Always very clean and all equipment works.

I highly recommend Gym Group Orpington. It's not long been open (since March 2024, if I remember correctly) and it's fantastic. It's got a broad suite of brand-new equipment -- enough to satisfy almost all fitness goals. Like all Gym Group gyms, there's an array of complimentary classes hosted by the gym's trainers. The facilities are clean and well maintained, and the staff are wonderful.

Everything went wrong.
Joined 2 days ago, selected Orpington gym on the app. Went and the door didn't open for the QR code and not when I typed the pin.
Rang the bell. Guy came and took a picture of the error message and send to the manager. Asked me to wait until he speak with the manager. He came back and told me to come back on Monday, that is after 3 more days as the manager will be available.
Customner service phone doesnt work after 5.30pm and not in the weekends.
No manager or responsible person to speak in the evengs or weekends.

Stay away from them. I am going back to the local leisure centre as are more friendly and human.

Not bunch of humans like computers, doesnt even talk in a sensible way, only know yes or no and computer said no.
They have zero human touch.

Clean, spacious gym with enough equipment to go round. Doesn’t feel intimidating and the music choice is pretty good too. Lots of lockers, free parking (make sure you put your reg in the tablet by the doors) and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended!

This gym is amazing. Amazing facility, top equipment and great environment. Nobody willing to help. Recived £500 worth of fine when I was told parking is free. Then I read that I need to register. I could not find place to register my car for parking. Told one of the instructors there and he said don't worry give the reg and it will be sorted. Today I recived fine from euro car park for all the visits so far for which I was told it's free and all done. Surely the company can help it's member who joined the gym knowing it had free car parking.
