I want to thank Preet for organising Nick the engineer to come to our home and remove a faulty Battery for our Solar panels.
Preet has worked hard to arrange for a replacement Battery which is coming on the 9th September.
We appreciate her help in keeping us informed of progress, which is professional and what you expect from a first class company. There is also a suggestion that we may be compensated for the three months when it did not work.

Warning - hard sell.

Similar to the last review on a bad hard sale experience.
I received a letter offering a free review of my solar panel system as they had previously supplied parts to my house (before I owned it). I checked the company out online and decided to email them for more information. I got a call straight away offering a home visit the same week. I questioned the urgency and why they were offering a review. Eventually, I agreed on a visit.
On the day the salesman called to ask to come earlier which I said no to, I was working, he arrived early ringing the bell twice and looking through the window to see I was on a work call. He waited outside until I opened the door a while later.
He looked at the equipment in the loft, took pictures without consent and within five minutes had finished and went into a hard sell which was inappropriate. I was glad when he left and wished I had not responded to the letter.
I hope others will learn from my mistake.

Dear anna,

We did not install the solar panels at your property, we have provided you with a visit to check the pv system and to see if any recommendations could be provided. Upon our visit and taking images to then show you we noticed the inverter had no power being generated again a picture of this can be re-sent to you should you require it. Our advise was to look at a maintenance cover with us which would mean we would diagnose the issue and fix or replace the current inverter. A quote was left with you, we apologise if you felt it was rushed however we noticed an issue and wanted to bring it to your attention as soon as possible.

Received a cold call from a "Private Caller". The caller claimed that he was offering help to recover money for inverter warranty where the installer has ceased trading. Caller would not explain where they had obtained my number or whether they did a TPS check before calling. Caller claimed it was not a cold call as he wasn't selling anything - wrong! When asked the name of his company, he said, "Think Green Partners", based in Hainault.

They know thier onions

When these guys rang about solar battery, I was skeptical having heard these things before. However, the 2 guys who arrived knew their onions. We had a long debate about economics and it turns out to give a potentially better return than a cash ISA.

The installation went well (I wanted the battery outside) and apart from some brick dust, all was neat and tidy.

The only glitch was a misunderstanding about payment. The T&C say payment is due after . . . commissioning. To me that means all functions are tested. TGP think otherwise. However the 10 year guarantee and buying on a credit card should look after that.

And the price was competitive.

Dear bob henry,

We can see you are based in canada, we only operate business within the United Kingdom.

Our members of staff would never be using a gas powered weed wacker as we install solar panels and battery storage systems only not garden maintenance, It seems as though you may have us confused with another company.

Solar and battery install experience

Hi,

I found TGP online after searching as they are local and had a good rating. Along with 3 other Solar providers who came to my home and explained the costs, what I would be getting, how it works, what's covered, the process, the install, after care, customer service etc I picked TGP.

Overall the best option. The reason being because I was going to add a loft extension in 4 months time (installed in 2022) and I wanted to add as many panels to the converted loft roof, run cables in the wall etc. The second stage was to run cables after the kitchen extension was complete (installed in 2023). The soalr panels on the kitchen extension roof was the last part to be installed along with the inverter and battery (was recently installed out May 2024). Having the ability to come out in stages really helped. They even saved me costs by utilising my existing scaffolding and gave me a referral fee due to 2 other recommendations.

It can be quite daunting and almost going into the unknown with solar panels, but TGP broke down exactly how it works, giving real world figures and setting expectations. They helped with the payments and breaking them down into stages of work completed.

They always respond to my calls and whether its questions, support or something else.

Thanks to Hardeep, Liam, John, Charlie and Kayden.

Well done, Think Green Partners

I was stuck. My air source heat pump had a fault.
I had not got around to taking out a maintenance contract.
After numerous phone calls to heating engineers, none were willing to do the work unless I took out a contract with them.
On calling think T G P, they too wanted me to have a contract with them and sent a representative that day, Jeevan, a very pleasant, none pushy person.
When we realised we had missed him, by a few minutes, he was contacted, and headed back to us, although it was late on a Friday, and he had a long journey ahead of him. To me, that is service.
With a very agreeable contract, signed TGP got to work locating the faulty part, which was shown as a code on the operating screen.
I had located a company that sent me a replacement part but, when it was installed through TGP, it too was faulty. I contacted the company that had sent me the faulty replacement par. I was told they could not supply me with another replacement for another month, due to being out of stock.
I informed Preet, who is a member of the customer service team, and the person who I communicated with. I was told to leave it with her and she would try other suppliers. They too seemed to be out of stock or unhelpful. The customer service team worked hard behind the sense on my behalf. I know this because somehow TGP got a company to speed things along, and a replacement part suddenly arrived. Two days later the part was installed and working.
My many thanks to TGP.

The comment about double glazing…

The comment about double glazing tactics re equipment dropping by £2,000 after a few phone calls is what happened with my 87yo mother. They called it “staff discount” cost price to them was about £800, mum ‘bought’ it for £2,500! Persuaded mum she needed hybrid inverter to replace the “fire risk” old inverter. Of course they had to persuade to buy the hybrid inverter so that it worked with the batteries they were determined to sell her! The Lux Software they provide is just a minefield! No information about how to get the most efficiency from the very expensive equipment. HIES trading body, are toothless to try and remedy our complaints. Purely a tick box exercise for compliance calls.
AVOID!

Good Afternoon Ivan,

We are disappointed and somewhat surprised to read your review. We emailed a quote for a battery, for your mother’s system, directly to your email account, the very next day you then placed an order for this additional battery system even though you are now saying your initial dealings with us were not satisfactory.

Yes, we did have some issues with your mother’s installation, which we resolved, and you had a follow up telephone conversation with us during which you praised the work of the technician who had just carried out the work to put everything right.

We had a protracted exchange of emails where we answered a variety of questions from you and it wasn’t until 6 months into this email conversation that you first mentioned the fact that your mother had been told her old invertor was a ‘fire risk’ and that is what prompted her to purchase a new one, something that we strongly refute. You also requested a refund of 75% of the purchase price which we were not prepared to do

At our suggestion you then went to HIES, an industry known independent dispute resolution company, as you were still unhappy. HIES, who upon seeing the evidence, decided to close your case.

Great Improvement

Delighted to report a great improvement to the service provided by TGP. Excellent response from the office and good service from the field operative. Special thanks to Preeta and Eden. I will continue to use TGP for the upkeep of my solar energy setup.

Refund issues after contract cancelled

I was 'cold called' about my solar panels. Jake the engineer came on 23 March 2024 and was very polite and gave me a price for a new inverter and a price for insurance. He phoned the office and suddenly the price dropped by £2000. I signed the contract and paid the deposit. At that stage I said it was like double glazing used to be with the price dropping when they phoned the office. Over night I had second thoughts and the following day notified Think Green Partners that I was cancelling the contract. The contract says deposits are refunded within 14 days. I've waited 14 days and still had no refund. I've now been told it's 14 working days, not 14 days. I will wait and trust I will be refunded and suggested that paperwork that customers receive state '14 working days'.

Update. On the 13th working day I was contacted to say I was refunded. It took a couple of days for Visa to process but I have been refunded as promised.

I have since been contacted by Think Green Energy asking me to remove this review as 'it's factually incorrect'. I cancelled on 23 March & was refunded on 12 April.

During all of this I was initially very impressed with how I was spoken to, but in later phonecalls I had someone talking constantly, not letting me speak and had them shout at me amongst other things that they were 'a 26 year old woman'. Not sure how that's relevant and I didn't need to know that. They then hung up on me.

Thank you for your feedback however the information in this review is inaccurate as the refund was processed within the 14 working day period and it was explained to you that there was a bank holiday within that period (bank holidays are not working days) Most businesses would not count weekends as days within a refund period either. I can confirm the refund was processed within our contractual agreement and the sale was cancelled.

When our inverter packed in

When our inverter packed in, this was when we contacted TGP to see if they could help which was great and very helpful. The downside is that we ended up spending the same amount and more for that than the old system cost, so the chances of breaking even are practically 0, but at least the system is working now. Could not use the original "company" as they are not operating now.

I got there in the end

My experience with think green partners was a bit stressful on my part,my inverter was showing a fault so I rang customer service and spoke to a nice young lady who was asking about my system, I'm no good at technology so I haven't a clue what the components are, so she asked me to take pictures and send them through WhatsApp, again I am not familiar about putting a new number on WhatsApp but tried and ended up with a local electrician replying to me, I assumed who was working for think green but he wasn't, don't ask me how that happened but he resolved the issue, it cost me£30 but I'm just glad my system is up and running again. Thank you for your patience customer service. Thank you for your generosity

First Class service throughout

Presentation was professional and informative. Communication to arrange Installation was prompt. Technicians were excellent: courteous, tidy, patient, communicative, skilled. What impressed the most about both technicians was their teamwork when needing to decide on an alternative location for the charger and batteries. The planned location close to the inverter in the loft was too small. They consulted us about alternatives and, without drama, resolved the problem and proceeded with the install with minimum disruption. As the public facing front of Think Green Partners, the consultant and both technicians should be commended for the quality of their work and their excellent interpersonal skills.

Very efficient and pleasant.

TGP's rep, Amar, was extremely helpful and courteous. The battery was fitted the next day. At our age, we shall probably not see the full benefit of the battery, we hope that we are doing a little bit to resist climate change.

One small complaint - although outside TGP's control - is the App they recommend for monitoring the function of the battery. It gets only 2 stars (as confirmed by other users) although monitoring on the PC is simple.
