Bought a few cars from trade centre Rochdale and I must say the most recent purchase was made so simple. Jack greeted me at the door and helped me find the perfect car for my needs. Managed to get a fantastic deal on the car and my PX. Whole process was easy start to finish.

All the staff were really lovely and helpful, however I don't see how you can advertise drive away in an hour, choosing the car was the quickest bit of the day. I was paying cash so there was no finance to arrange. Once I'd paid for the car we waited an hour and a half for everything to be sorted. My daughter was able to sort out my insurance while we waited, and we weren't the only ones waiting. There seemed to be a lot of salesmen but not enough finishers. I am however delighted with the car and the deal I got.

Do not buy dangerous cars
Dear The Trade Centre Rochdale,
I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding the Kia Sportage we purchased from your Rochdale branch on 5th June 2026.
Since taking ownership of the vehicle, we have experienced serious issues which raise concerns about the condition, reliability, and roadworthiness of the car.
The first major issue occurred shortly after purchase when driving the vehicle uphill. The car suddenly became severely restricted and would not rev beyond approximately 1,500–2,000 RPM, even when manually selecting a lower gear (including second gear). The vehicle was effectively unable to accelerate properly.
This behaviour is consistent with the vehicle entering a limp mode/safety protection mode, where the ECU limits engine power to prevent further damage to the engine or transmission. This is not a normal driving characteristic and indicates there may be an underlying mechanical fault requiring investigation.
We have also reviewed the vehicle’s MOT history and noticed recurring major failures appearing year after year, followed by passes. This raises concerns that the underlying faults may not have been properly resolved and that the vehicle may have existing issues which were not made clear to us at the point of sale.
On Friday 19th June 2026, we drove the vehicle back to Rochdale and requested that the issue be investigated. The initial customer service experience was extremely disappointing. We were effectively told that the car was “the car” and that if we wanted it looked at, we would have to leave it for weeks for assessment, leaving us without transport.
Eventually, after speaking with someone who was willing to help, a courtesy vehicle was arranged. However, this vehicle was not comparable to the Kia Sportage we purchased and was significantly smaller. Given our circumstances, we accepted this because we needed transport.
Unfortunately, when we collected the courtesy vehicle, it was dirty and had a strong cigarette smoke smell. We are non-smokers, and due to the current warm weather the smell is extremely unpleasant. We have children, and we are not comfortable putting them in a vehicle in this condition.
The aftersales experience has been extremely poor. Since leaving the vehicle with you on Friday, we have received no meaningful updates, no progress reports, and no clear communication about what is happening. We currently have a £550 monthly finance payment for a vehicle that is sitting at your showroom and unusable.
This situation is causing significant stress and disruption, including putting our jobs and daily commitments at risk due to the lack of reliable transport.
We purchased this vehicle expecting a safe, reliable car and a reasonable standard of customer service. Instead, we feel completely ignored.
Since this point we have been told there is a fault on the catalytic converter and new one was order and was due in 30th June. We have had zero communication.
We require urgent action:
* A full investigation into the fault with the Kia Sportage.
* A clear written update on the diagnosis and repair plan.
* A suitable replacement vehicle if this car is found to have significant faults.
* A resolution that reflects our rights as consumers, including the option of exchanging the vehicle if appropriate.
We would appreciate this being escalated urgently. We do not want this situation to continue unnecessarily, but we need The Trade Centre to take responsibility and resolve this properly.
Please respond within 48 hours with an update and proposed resolution.
