Money for nothin' and your headache for free
It could be a nice concept, but!
We already got the bike (2019) with a long delay and with a front puncture and inoperative engine. We signaled the bugs, but we were caught in the whole thing and that the assembly was not right. After so many unsuccessful rounds, we wanted to stop buying because that’s not why we paid a bunch of money to argue over a faulty product. It was reported that this was not possible either, no refund.
After some fuss, it was disassembled (motor unit) and it turned out that the speed sensor had been cut off with one of the engine mounting bolts. We repaired it at our own expense, replaced the punctured tire, and then cycled 1,400 miles with it in peace and love. At this point, the Brose engine torque sensor has failed. Luckily, we found a local dealer who helped arrange this with Brose under warranty, of course not for free. The enviolo hub has also started to go in pieces, which we are now replacing, but they are only sending a replacement hub and we need to rebuild the wheel.
When I was young, I enjoyed spending a lot of time on tinkering, mounting so it didn’t cost much. Today, I prefer to pay to get the right service for my money.
In the case of the Triobike, I paid 7 700 € for the same tinkering, and the attitude of the company is a huge disappointment. Legal action is still under consideration, primarily to save prospective buyers.
Brose and enviolo, at least for their part, stand up for the components that come from them. They have 5 stars ...
